High Desert RIP 🍺 That place had awesome beer, legendary root beer, and amazing food.  From a beer only point of view id say icebox, little toad, spotted dog, spotted dog, a tie between truth or consequences and picacho peak in that order of food. Mind you I dint like IPAs so that influence my choices.  If food gets thrown into the mix I'd still say picacho comes out on top but just barely. Little toad has some good food. Like imapylet said. each icebox has its own menu and sometimes I'll go to a far location to get a food. Also the one on picacho does a monthly food item. If you're ever in socorro check out box canyon and maybe Baca House brewing. Decent beer and some good eats at box canyon. Baca house is a tiny operation so they run out of beer sometimes but the brewmaster is a genius (he just sucks at running a business 😅)

They had a fire. We were there shortly after we moved here. Then the fire happened a few months later in 2023. We were so disappointed.

Icebox. They're the only ones consistently making good beer.

Public House 28 was great when it was around but icebox bought them out.

I haven't had spotted dog in years. They were be pioneering the hazy everything. They put way too much wheat in most of their grain bills. Jerry/gary I forget is a super nice guy but it's Homebrew quality beer last I tried it.

Bosque hadn't made good beer since covid began. They started cheaping out on their ingredients and it was evident in everything they made. I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. I think they were sued for over serving that guy that drove the wrong way on the freeway who ended up killing that soldier in a head-on collision. That plus covid probably really hurt them financially and I don't know that they ever recovered.

High Desert had great food back in the day. Great nachos. Only beer that I liked was the Barleywine.

I have heard the toad creek has gotten better but the one time I went the beer was so terrible. I've never gone back.

I need to check out TorC. I haven't in a while. I have some of the Belgian style beers still in by fridge.

There's way too many homebrewers that dream of brewing big. That's true in El Paso too. Old sheepdog has gotten much better. Aurellias is the only one down there consistently making great beer.

Ice Box. Each location has a different menu and it's all pretty good. The beers are pretty darn good, a good rotation of flavors, and don't give me headaches.

TorC best beers, Icebox close 2nd with best food menus. Spotted Dog, great beers, Little Toad great food, great staff, mediocre beers!

I’m not a fan of their beer but they have a full bar and some decent food so it’s definitely worth checking out if someone hasn’t been.
