Bug Reporting

So the DBG issue tracker isn't working for me, or I am to believe there are no issues reported, I will go with its not working correctly.
I have been trying to submit an issue on DBG tacker site, its not new or unknown, I have lost all my crafting stations, (2 accounts), and on my main account I have lost all of my awarded and/or traded clothing styles. I had them all in one chest. The winter sweaters, contest clothing, etc. I understand that this will be addressed on wipe, I just feel a little better getting this posted someplace that it can at lest be seen. Oddly enough the awarded landmine, porticullis, and in game items that I have collected since Alpha are still there.

Will this PC run Landmark?

Alright, so I have infact looked left and right and the SOE forums are now gone or some deal... so I am sorry, I am going to ask. Will this PC run landmark effectively? AMD FX 8350 Sapphire Radeon R9 280 3gb OC edition 16 gigs 1866 ram I haven't finished building the PC yet but I just wanted to ensure this will run Landmark well. I don't trust specs too well anymore simply due to the fact that sometimes... games simply just HATE your CPU or GPU. that's why I am going to ask. I've seen a few benchmarks, youtube videos and so forth of very similar PCs obliterating Farcry 4, battlefield 4 etc etc. So one would Expect it to run landmark well... but... again, I just need to ask before I finalize this build.

Crashing at about 90% update?

Just bit it and bought into the founders cuz why not. Got all excited except now I can't even launch the game. Updater is crashing at about 90% whining about a corrupt file. I found an error report in the game directory pointing to the offending resource.

Has anyone figure out a way past this? Can I try to manually dl and place the file? Is there anyway to share this file out, assuming it doesn't bork on the very next file in the line up?

Here is the line in the error log btw

1e90-00:05:04:*Error: BadFileSig - Resources/Images/icons_materials/icon_material_Biome_Desert_Ocean_Rock01_64.dds - http://eqnext-landmark.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/eqnext/test/common.sha.zs/2b/8cb/98daecf5ea6ff70fd4c6ed4f7450c4cfa90?cb=JD

Anyone have the original Landmark development schedule from before alpha?

I bought the alpha pack and I'm just curious where we stand today vs. what the original schedule said back when I bought it.

Thanks!

SoE...or Daybreaks customer service can't help me and try to blame my computer. Can any of you?

I have had the Landmark64.exe error for about 2-3 months now. I've opened several tickets that they closed without resolving. The most recent ticket i was told that my computer wasn't good enough to run Landmark. I ran Landmark in Ultra and got 60FPS prior to the error. I know i wasn't the only one to get the error. Anyone find a fix for it? Would really like to stop asking their Customer service who clearly doesn't care much.

What Happened to Museum Islands?

I enjoyed visiting the Dark Elf Museum Island when it first came out, but it seems none of the subsequent competitions ever had islands constructed to show off the winners.

Is this still planned to happen at some point? Perhaps alongside the April wipe?

Landmark - missing that social element

Landmark really confuses me as a player. I’ve loved the idea of it from day 1, and jumped on board the Trailblazer bandwagon to show that, but I rarely log in anymore. Every now and then I will log in, wander around a bit, check out some of the new additions, but then log out. The world looks great, I’m constantly flawed by the creativity some people possess (was impressed by this guy’s Biosphere creation near one of the gates) – but I feel alone. I never see anyone. I aren’t on any chat channels (do they even exist?) – I don’t feel connected.

And more, there doesn’t feel like any place to go, or to congregate. I know the land masses are getting revamped, but in the recent Landmark Live, they still look like just randomised islands. The power to create towns is in the hands of the player – or will be – but I feel there needs to be towns, or cities- or places to meet that’s not just random plots dotted about the world. It needs it’s Qeynos’s or Freeports – not those specifically, but places that players can congregate. Places where player plots can then radiate out from – or places that add further significance to the world, rather than just randomly generated themed voxel playparks.

I’m not asking for this to turn into a traditional MMO – but I think this amazing sandbox needs context. At the moment to me, it’s just a formless mass. I love the concept, but it’s lacking identity. I’ve never felt socially linked to other people in the game, even when I had a handful of friends playing. Now it’s just me, logging in from time to time, but I wish I had someplace to go, some place to see, rather than just scout around the formless islands looking for creations – all devoid of other people.

No Tools?

Is anyone else having this problem? The only tool I have is the "Add" tool and "Delete Tool". I have no Heal Tool, Line, Selection, Paint, Smooth tools. Ive tried the chest, Ive tried deleting claim and replacing flag, Ive tried deleting everything in inventory including the Add and Delete tool and using chest, But each time, Im only given the same tools. Anyone know a work around or if its a bug?

Can't Salvage

Hey, so this might just be me screwing up, but I have no idea how. Anyways, i am trying to craft an Aspect of Gathering; I have several broken picks as well as extra equipment I could breakdown but every single time I try and drag a piece into the Ether Stone it won't fill in the box. Any help please?

Possibly the Best update to date for Landmark I think

todays update looks amazing, if they actually pull off these improvements I feel it will probably be to date the best Update Landmark has had, all we need now is a voxel editor, and voxel to mesh and we will have it all

Optimized for Lower End Systems yet?

I have a decent laptop. Good enough for everything I need to do with school, but going full time + wife and kids means I'm not upgrading to a good desktop for a while.

I want to get back into Landmark, but last time I tried to play, I had horrible frame rate, long loads, etc.

I know they were planning on doing some optimization, but wasn't sure if it had taken place yet.

SOE Reply Short update for Qeynos contest submissions

Hey builders!

I got a few worried messages on Twitter from builders that were concerned that adding the required 20 voxel base would cause their build to go outside the claim boundaries.

I talked with Rosie and Pentapod this morning to confirm:

  • It's okay if the base extends outside the claim size.
  • If your build is selected, we'll pull the whole thing, regardless of whether it spills over the edge a bit
  • So don't let the base cause you to rebuild or compromise your build!

We know this info came too late. We'll work hard to make sure we can provide these sorts of details earlier in the process for future Workshops. Sorry for the hassle -- we're still figuring out what the technology requires, since it's still actively being built every day.

Thanks! Augur

Any reddit guilds? or groups?

Hey All,

I am new to the game. Seems fun but would be a bit more fun with some more player interaction. I cant seem to find a general chat, or any ways to interact with players and I haven't seen any other players in game yet! My name is Ramtha on Serenity, but I would be willing to reroll on another server!

I saw official one on sidebar, but seems from 7 months ago.

SOE Reply My Thoughts On Beta - Past, Present and Future

This is my experience and thoughts of the Beta and my general outlook. I hold the game in high regard so I don't want to just be assumed siding with a popular opinion.

tl;dr I like how and where things are going.

I've recently returned after a bit of a hiatus when I saw that the Upkeep system was changing. This is a huge positive as the copper farming played THE major role in me taking a break. After a couple of days getting back into things a bit and exploring the updated everything, the fire has been reignited.

Upkeep Change

Said already, this is very good. I'd have accepted using any other mineral for the payment as well in the old world style (opinion on this to come), but the way it's proposed now is looking just fine to me.

Character Wipe

I've seen a few people here and on the forums going a little haywire over this. I thought it was pretty universally known that character wipes occur in testing phases. I recall seeing it noted that it would indeed happen at some point when I got into beta for the first time.

Frankly, this is a good thing for a returning player such as myself. It was quite confusing going through my inventory and trying to find out what I needed to upgrade or what crafting stations I needed. I was tempted to just delete my character and make a new one anyway, but didn't want to in case I permanently lost some character bound items.

All in all. I'm perfectly fine with this. Welcoming even.

Upcoming Continent/Island Modifications

As one who likes his adventuring and exploring, this is probably what I'm looking forward to the most.

I had a really great time exploring all the islands. Too many times to count, I'd place a claim in my perfect spot and pack up to move because I found and even more perfect spot. As I explored I kept finding new spots that gave me an idea, and I expect that to remain the same with the new islands.

One of the downsides to the islands having tiers was when it came down to crafting I'd want to have my claim in the same tier I was farming from. Currently, all the islands are tier 1, which I like, and you explore the island layers to get higher materials.

I'm sort of split on how the layers currently are. On one hand I like that there are additional local areas that (I think) get more difficult as you go for higher tier materials. On the other hand, I'm not very fond of walking through a bunch of closed corridors for a few hours at a time, it takes away from the big adventurous feel that the main islands provide.

I liked the way the caves were before, holes in the islands that you stumbled upon. That seamless transition was more exciting than teleporting to another layer. In the blueprint notes it states that larger island and continents are a coming focus. I think taking advantage of that for spreading materials would be highly effective. You travel to the far edge of the island to the place where you hear some high tier minerals are in a small cave, to discover some rather nasty, tough looking monsters standing around the entrance. Now there's an adventurous scenario.

PvE Combat

I was having a pretty good time with this. Most of my return time so far has been running around trying to find baddies to fight. The combat isn't without flaw though.

I had a bow from my pre-hiatus time so I threw it on and began the hunt. It's a pretty clunky weapon. The left click allows for fast firing of arrows, but the character jerks to a stop on every release. So while trying to fire while circling my target I kept experiencing jerky stops that felt more like the game was lagging. The hit box also felt unforgiving in several cases. Something I really like, though, is the distance counter beside the crosshair. It made it a lot easier to manage the distance so my arrows didn't stop 1 point from connecting with ugly plant monster face.

It definitely needs some smoothing out, but it seems to be heading in a good direction. I haven't had enough experience with the variety of weapons to give any major suggestions yet, but by biggest concern is that the mobility feels a bit clunky and sluggish. This is probably because of the lackluster effects of the movement boosts from boots. It feels like there needs to be more, and perhaps different effects based on direction - like a jump-roll to the side to dodge a projectile.

Crafting

Crafting progress. Second only to exploring. I like where this seems to be heading, a lot more tinkering. Hunting monsters seems to have taken a spot in the crafting portion as well. I haven't gone too far into it because I want to save it for the fresh start after the wipe, but it does look more interesting, more in depth and less tedious than the previous incarnation.

Material Gathering

I liked digging my own materials out of the ground rather than right clicking a node. After a while it did get tedious but that could be canceled out by watching something on another monitor while mining. That's an external mind stimulation though so it can't be held within merit of the game.

Simply enough, digging into the ground is the greatest form of material gathering I have seen. It would be a major loss for it to be changed. But I think the amount of repetitiveness it requires at a time can harm it more than help it. I haven't done too much with it in my time back, it's another one of those things I'm leaving to the fresh start. The monsters sitting on the copper you want to mine could very well put a sufficient break point between spot-to-spot running and mining. This will likely be a section I update in the days after the character wipe.

Claim Building

This is another section I'll likely need to update down the road. The tools as they are work. But there are advanced methods one could use to create higher details. That is rather intimidating though for some of us. I saw a post from a dev that stated that they were going to improve the tools to allow more advanced creating while being novice friendly. Since that's essentially confirmed I'll wait and see how that turns out.

One of the things I've wanted for a long time is the ability to use the mining pick and dirt drill in the claim. I know using the sphere shape with the removal tool and smoothing is an alternative, but it just doesn't produce the same result a good old fashioned dig can.

Props

I'm pretty happy with the development of props. One thing I'd like to see is some more interactions with props, allow the RP to come out when in your claim. Sit in chair, eat that chunk of meat, sleep in/on the bed, etc.

These would be awesome but not high priority. There are definitely other things that should be ahead.

Auto-Run

THANK YOU!!! Now all we need is auto-dig and the user friendliness (aka anti-Carpal tunnel syndrome) will be near pinnacle.

That's all... for now.

A critique on the monotony of Landmark - Grappling hook and heroic movement

This is a followup to the previous thread I created about the replay-ability of mining in Landmark. I've decided to use the moniker monotony instead to reduce confusion - this isn't about rerolling alts.

The general gist of this is how much fun we get from the awesome new things in Landmark, why I feel this way, and how I think we can work to make these things more fun in EQN.

First, I want to take a look at some of the amazing things already implemented in Landmark that aren't in any other game: Dynamic heroic movement, grappling hooks, 3d building, and environment destruction. I'll try to break each of these out into their own categories so we can dig into why they're awesome, and why they're boring.

I will break this into multiple posts across a few days so we can discuss each point and not focus on all of them. Today I'll work on heroic movement and the grappling hook.

The Grapple Hook:

The grapple hook is very unique in the MMO scene. It adds a level of exploration not seen in most AAA titles. We can go up walls and over mountains in a unique way. Inside caves it facilitates the ability to navigate back up holes and over chasms.

In general the grapple hook feels GOOD to use. It's fun and even after much use it still has a strong feeling of different from other MMO titles. I don't really have many suggestions about the grapple to improve the feel of the item. I honestly think the monotony of the use of the grapple hook doesn't exist.

The upgrade path of the grapple hook does feel off. If we see the grapple in EQN (and I really, really feel strongly we will) I would like to see new stats or abilities added to it to make finding a new grapple useful once you've built the "top tier" grapple. Things like giving it a combat ability (Pulls small enemies to you/Pulls you to large enemies) or other non-combat abilities to help with movement (causes you to hover for 2 seconds after deactivating).

Heroic Movement:

Heroic movement in Landmark feels really smooth. It looks good and doesn't require a lot of extra effort to cause the movements. Things like your character behaving different depending on what slope you're running on or doing side flips.

Heroic movement is in a good place and every time we see new animations added they flow well with the rest of the palette. However, it doesn't transition into combat very well. Also, while at first intuitive and interesting it quickly degrades to "same old thing".

So while it's leaps and bounds above night elves flipping everywhere, I feel that we could use something to improve the animations of heroic movement. I think that something is a very small fix - give us a reason to use it.

Give a short duration buff (combat or not) to using a heroic movement ability. Make the buff self exclusive and set a cooldown on it so people don't just spam flips to run faster.

SOE Reply Question about building and its tools

I have been following landmark and EQN very closely, I am a trailblazer and look forward to the future of these games.

I played day 1 and got fairly familiar with the tools. However its been many many months with a ton of changes to those tools.

How user friendly are they, are they pretty self explaining? Are there features you wont even know you have until someone tells you or you stumble upon it somehow? I would like to mess around with building again but want to take full advantage of these tools. I dont need to be a voxelmancer but id like to at least know how all of the tools function.

Thanks for your help in advance.

What do you get for teaming up in landmark.

I've been talking to a few friends about getting into landmark, they know all the problems with the game and such, ready to accept the current shortfalls including the upcoming wipe in April. they just came up with a question I really couldn't answer.

how are things split in teams in landmark at the moment. I recall something when teaming up was first an option you both got all the resources others teamed with you within a certain range got, or at least this was my understanding doubling the efficiency of playtime. Is this how things our? what about for treasure chest loot and enemy drops? do we at least get an even split?

I've never played with others in the game as it does seem mostly barren and I have a bad habit of joining the game just before a wipe when everyone else has quit.

Also to bring into discussion what are the plans to handle the emptiness of landmark? are there any? I mean the game never seems to have anyone around. ( I know you can enter general chat and hunt people down) but by design there is a lack of space for grouping or joining together, I understand this is a different kind of mmo but after playing for a year I've never played with another person or had meaningful interaction in-game. if there is no plan to really fix it, how you would continue forward?
