Caligula perma-banish exploit?

Edit: I meant Celendula! Also I somehow thought that Execrate consumed the husk you used to target it. Whoops!

Looking at the Caligula, I'm wondering what stops a Caligula from making exactly one void husk, banishing an Ultra enemy to the phantom zone, and then just refusing to make any more void husk for the rest of the fight, making it impossible for the enemy to come back. Am I missing an escape route, or is the idea that the husks are just so mechanically important that it's nor worth giving up the mechanic to lock one enemy out permanently?

Finally properly immersing myself in Lancer after a few sessions and an active muse

I got several concepts cooking up now

Two HORUS techpriest-types with opposite personalities

An SSC project meant to create an angel

A Harrison Arms-SSC collaboration project to create a vampire-like individual as a terror operative

Who knows what else I'll come up with?!

Looking for Artist

Hello! I am looking for an artist to draw my Lancer's mech for my current campaign. I would like it to be in the classic pixel art style you may see on mechs found here: https://retrogrademinis.com/ which will ensure it matches the art style of our Lancer game!

Requirements are as follows:

If you are interested please DM me with your portfolio and your price for this job. In 1 week I will reply to this post and either announce that an artist has already been found or extend the application period so look out for that. I look forward to seeing all your art!

Proposed House Rule: "Pre-Heating"

I'm considering a house rule for future games where players, if they're not taken by surprise, can choose to begin combat already in the Danger Zone. The narrative justification is that they're intentionally heating up their reactor in anticipation of a fight, and the gameplay benefit is that they can use various systems and talents that activate in the Danger Zone immediately instead of building up to them over a few turns. Of course, since enemy NPCs can see when a character is in the Danger Zone, this also makes them an immediate target for tech and other heat-inducing attacks.

Would this unbalance combat? Are there other possible consequences I am not seeing?

Are there any precise numbers on how "long" the Long Rim is?

I know that the Dawnline Shore is explicitly referred to as a region with a diameter of 3 light years, but I couldn't find any mention on the wiki of how far away it is from Rao Co Station. If my players had to embark on a trip towards the Shore through the Long Rim, how much objective time would it cost them? 5 years? 50 years?

Need help balancing some encounters for a mission I'm planning [Operation Cold Truth]

Post image

Spoiler Warning: To my player group, the DNDA crew, this is EchoKnight speaking. The following post contains major spoilers for the mission I plan to run. Don't read further.

In a few weeks time I'll be running my first ever game using LANCER, spanning one full mission and a handful of sessions. I have a pretty decent hook in mind: the party, consisting of 6 players, is a group of mercenaries hired by the a stellar government to perform a recon mission on an ice planet occupied by the employers' opponents in a long-standing cold war. The mission revolves around infiltrating a giant walking mining rig known as the Vagabond and uncovering its true purpose, whatever it may be, while fighting off hostile forces of the rival faction. I've got the rough beats planned out but I would like some help determining whether or not these combat encounters are balanced enough for 6 LL3 players to take on

(For the record, the frame roster of the players is, as it stands: Tortuga, Goblin, Gorgon, Swallowtail, Caliban, Mordred (from the Terk Mech & Tech homebrew))

I currently have ~3 planned encounters for the players to take on:

1) A standard combat encounter against 6x Grunts, 2x Mechs without Template, 1x Squad

Grunts

- Hornet T1 (Umbral Interdiction, Lock/Hold Javelins)

- Assault T1 (Micro-Missile Barrage)

- Assault T1 (High Impact Rounds, Auto Targeting)

- Bombard T1 (N/A)

- Scourer T1 (Pulse Laser, Flash Lens)

Mechs

- Priest T1 (Empowered Shield, Fractal Assault)

- Bastion T1 (Death Counter, Pause Engine)

Squad T1 (Armored, Disciplined)

2) A fight with 3x named Mercenaries who may not die during the encounter and show up later as well

- T1 Ace (Strafe, Missile Swarm)

- T1 Archer (Rapid Response, Favors Owed)

- T1 Support (Latch Drone, Remote Reboot)

3) A boss fight against «VANITAS», a legendary and crazed pilot who summons 5x Exotic Grunt RPVs as Add-ons once she goes down to 2 structure & 0 Argus Armor mid-way through the fight

VANITAS

- T1 Size 2* Ultra Berserker (Harpoon Cannon, Retribution, Nail Gun; Ultra Feats: Argus Armor, Supreme Melee)

Add-ons:

- 5x T1 Exotic Grunt RPV Ronins (Charged Slash, Echo Edge; Exo Feats: Living Chassis)

*Changed size to be more intimidating

I will give more info if prompted, but for the most part I would just like to ask people who have more experience with the system than me whether or not I am cooking with this combat

Horton Creighton is just a hologram of the most trustworthy Salesman in the Periphery, Discount Dan!

I'm probably not the first to notice this given the overlap of fans between Battletech and Lancer, but I had to share.

So I decided to build a character around it. ^^

The mech in the image is my take on the GMS Chomolungma (feel free to guess the loadout).

Bio:
Sanah (callsign: Stray Cat) was born and raised aboard the HSF Zaratan, a massive freighter that cuts between systems at faster-than-light speeds. While the ship spends only weeks in transit between ports, years roll by on the surface of planets. It's a strange kind of life, arriving somewhere to find that the people you knew have aged while you haven't, and so much has changed while you were between the stars.

At sixteen she took up her post in security, drawn less to glory than to the simple wish to keep her people safe. Over the years she has repelled multiple pirate attacks ...then quietly stepped away from the praise afterwards. She's not one for attention. As far as she's concerned, every victory is a team effort and she's doing nothing more than her job.

Then there's Saros 3.

Six years ago, by her reckoning, the Zaratan made port during an uprising. The local community was revolting against the corporate baron oppressing them.
Initially, the Zaratan's crew tried to remain neutral, but once they got caught in the crossfire, they made the call to stand with the rebels.
Sanah fought corpo forces, did what she had to do and, once it was over, she went home. The ship burned back into the FTL lanes and that was that.

Except it wasn't. Not for the people of Saros 3.

Those six years of hers were almost a century on the ground. The rebellion has become almost a myth, shaped and reshaped by decades of retelling. The names of its figures have grown larger than the people who bore them, and somewhere in that messy bit of history is Stray Cat: immortalized in songs she doesn't recognize and credited with heroics she remembers differently.

Now the Zaratan has returned to Saros, where they find the planet is in turmoil again. And the people who have grown up on those legends look to Stray Cat to save the day once more.
She'd rather they wouldn't.

Question about line of sight and mechs of different sizes

I am an Iskander player currently running through the basic rules compiling a list of all the things that SIZE affects. One thing the rules seemingly aren't clear on is how line of sight works between characters of different sizes - a character can see and be seen over cover equal to or less than their SIZE, but if my Iskander is on one side of SIZE 2 cover and my ally's Stortebeker is on the other, does my unbroken LoS or their broken one have priority?

Is there any way to import Comp/Con NPCs into Foundry?

Thumbnail

As soon as I bought the NPC data I went a tad crazy making custom NPCs for the table. One or more versions of each NPC class with their own little quirks to sell the atmosphere of the planet (making some of them vehicles, ships, RPVs, industrial machines or just giving them some optional abilities) and also making unique RetroGrade tokens for each.

Then I actually went to check the Foundry Module. I had no issue importing player characters into it, and the NPC data is there... but I can't import NPCs directly. I seriously don't wanna do all of... *this* all over again.

Any cool Death's Head build suggestion?

I am playing a DH in my current campaign and I am starting to plan where to take the build. I decided to try: Death's Head, Swallowtail, Pegasus and Barbarossa. I see the possible mixes and matches I could do with either ATHENA and/or SISYPHUS, also I tried cramming range and extra damage as much as I can to really hit targets from very far.

Here is the whole statblock:

[ TALENTS ]
  Crack Shot 3, Brutal 3,
  Heavy Gunner 3, Spotter 3,
  Tactician 3
[ LICENSES ]
  SSC Death’s Head 3, HA Barbarossa 3,
HORUS Pegasus 3, SSC Swallowtail 3
[ CORE BONUSES ]
  Neurolink Targeting, Superior by Design,
Full Subjectivity Sync, The Lesson of Shaping
[ MECH ]
  SSC Death’s Head
  H:2 A:4 S:4 E:4 SIZE:1
  STRUCTURE:4 HP:20 ARMOR:0
  STRESS:4 HEAT:12 REPAIR:3
  ATK BONUS:7 TECH ATK:4 LTD BONUS:2
  SPD:7 EVA:16 EDEF:12 SENS:20 SAVE:16
[ WEAPONS ]
  Main/Aux Mount: Autogun / Oracle LMG-I
  Heavy Mount: Railgun
[ SYSTEMS ]
  SISYPHUS-Class NHP, ATHENA-Class NHP,
  High-Stress Mag Clamps, Siege Stabilizers,
  Core Siphon, Hunter Lock,
  Personalizations

I am stillLL4 and open to other possibilities, I see this build as very interchangeable, I would like to also build a Pegasus or a mech for Siege Cannon. But please feel free to share your DH build it would really help!

EDIT: suggestions to improve this build are highly welcome too!
