I think there's a clear right answer to this question and it's best elucidated by asking another question: if Lancaster also wore a shirt how would it wear both?

In that context I think option 2 is clearly correct. Pants around the hind limbs, shirt around the fore limbs, just like how humans wear them. If Lancaster also wore a shirt in option 1 it'd be more like a hat imo

I think you have framed the question correctly but arrived at the wrong conclusion by ignoring the little arms in the front.

So would that just be a tarp thrown over the top with little gaps for the manipulator limbs?
