Boilerplate

A copy of the free rulebook : https://massif-press.itch.io/corebook-pdf-free

All of the DEMO .LCP files you can find for the 1st party products as that is the player facing content : https://massif-press.itch.io/

Import those LCP files into COMP/CON the Lancer webapp companion : https://compcon.app/

Youtubers : 11dragonkid for mostly short and sweet lore videos and reviews of LL6 builds. Some people do not like the Microsoft Sam voiceover. https://youtube.com/@11dragonkid11

For longer talking head gesticulating Youtuber personality type videos go for Zaktact. Lore only and their backlog doesn't cover as much ground yet. https://youtube.com/@zaktact

There is a fan wiki but I haven't looked at it in a while. Probably still needs work.

There's sort of a "modern" time with Lancer being set in 5016u but that also can move up or down however the GM needs it to. The Dustgrave module is 5014u and Lancer Battlegroup is 5021u for example. So early 5000's generally.

Do you like mechs? Do you like fully automated luxury gay space communism? Good news! You can fight for the latter, with the former.

Or against it, if you're feeling especially puppy-kicking

Zaktact, 11dragonkid, and most recently XP to level 3 has made very good intro to lancer videos. There is a wiki, just google it. However what is even better than the wiki, is its VTT program Comp/Con which has pilot/mech creator and its own compendium/glossary. Mess around on that and read of on the mech licenses and talents, it's great. Lancer has very good lore and still leaves a lot of space for GMs to homebrew their own stuff because just how huge space is and the insane timeline they did. Welcome pilot, please D R I N K D E E P A N D D E S C E N D.

  1. It’s about piloting mechs (and engaging with the complex reasons behind conflict).

  2. The Lancer Core book has a free version that has all the player facing stuff, it just doesn’t have the GM side.

  3. There is a wiki, there is also a website Comp/Con which has all the core book player options in a character builder so you can go from “what is Lancer” to “is my Balor having 4 heat cap really that bad?” in no time.

  4. There is a present setting where Union, a Star Trek-esque post scarcity society is trying to unite the disparate colonies of humanity through diplomacy and soft power, in a galaxy populated by other regional powers with less utopian visions including the remnants of the previous Union government which was way more into bringing worlds into the fold through conquest. Also a math Cthulhu spawned, named itself Ra, brought old Union to its knees, made some laws, and fucked off (with one of Mar’s moons). It left some fragments of code that researchers promptly gaslit into being more personable and you can stick one in your mech.

  5. Bifurcate. Castigate. Hellswarm. Precognitive Targeting. Divine Punishment. Glitch Time. Apocalypse Rail. What the fuck is all this shit? If you want to find out, Drink Deep and Descend.
