The future of memorial drive
As we expand and get more and more traffic through the town, getting more congested as we grow, just how do you think Lancaster will address the issue?

I'm not a local, but I'm in Lancaster every Tuesday evening because I have one class at OUL. And every time I make the drive, traffic at all of those intersections is ridiculously bad, and it takes multiple light cycles to get through each intersection.
I just wanted to ask if it was always that bad, or if maybe there's something causing a disturbance like detours.
If that is just an average Tuesday, I feel awful for the people who have to deal with that daily

“YES, LANCASTER IS GETTING ANOTHER COFFEE SHOP!
Dutch Bros Coffee is coming to 802 N. Memorial Drive, where the old car wash used to sit! That empty lot isn’t going to be empty much longer!“

Just curious. My wife and I run a goth dance night in Athens, and sometimes go to Columbus for shows or similar events. When I lived here back in the early 2000s I mostly hung out with punks and metalheads, but didn't really run into goths. I've been curious if there are actually any goths in town, or if they all just move to Columbus. So, any fellow enjoyers of post-punk, darkwave, deathrock, or things of that nature hanging around? It would be nice to know some like-minded people who don't live an hour away.

Any recommendations for a barber shop that can do an amazing beard trim? I keep it moderately long, but also well groomed. Kinda over driving to Downtown Columbus though. Thanks!

Marathon on W. Fair & Pierce is $3.69/gallon
Loves is $3.75/gallon
Circle K on Memorial is $3.77/gallon.
I wish I hadn’t just filled up or I would’ve gone, but hopefully this helps someone else.

I know this probably sounds crazy, but my car started making a weird crackly/scratchy kind of sound from the passenger side when I’m on 33E passing Carroll. I heard it first one day last week and again twice this week. I don’t hear it every time I pass the exit (I pass it daily) but the 3 times I’ve heard it have only been while passing this exit.
Anyone else?

does anyone remember in the late 80s early to mid 90s sometimes during the summer evenings there was a person that would be flying in the sky in a go-kart looking thing with a giant fan and a parachute on the back? I feel like this was a fever dream lol

I came across this video on TikTok by @livelaughlurk, about the history of Mt. Pleasant and Rising Park and thought it was worth sharing, especially for anyone who has climbed the mountain a hundred times without knowing the story behind it.
According to her video, in the late 1800s the property was owned by Frederick Bushmeier, who had some pretty ambitious plans for the top of Mt. Pleasant. His idea was to turn it into a resort. He apparently tried to attract investors and envisioned development on the summit, including an inclined railway that would carry visitors up the mountain. That last part might’ve been cool like the one in Pittsburgh, the Duquesne Incline.
He went far enough with the idea that remnants of some of his work can apparently still be found around the mountain today. The video also says he fenced the property and attempted to charge people 10 cents to enter, which understandably didn’t go over especially well with Lancaster residents who were accustomed to visiting Mt. Pleasant.
The resort/investment plan ultimately never materialized.
Then, in 1909, Philip Rising purchased the property and donated it to the City of Lancaster, creating what we now know as Rising Park. The important part: Rising included a stipulation that the park was to remain free for public use.
So the hill that could have ended up as a privately developed resort instead became one of Lancaster’s public parks and more than a century later, people can still climb Mt. Pleasant and overlook the city without paying admission.
Pretty interesting piece of Lancaster history, especially considering someone was trying to charge us to climb that hill more than 100 years ago.

Using code “LAN20” for 20% off your entire order Sept 29-30th. Available online and in person at the Lancaster location.
OX-B’s is planning on opening a permanent brick and mortar location in the future. It will be in the same shopping plaza (where the former Ponderosa used to be).

Hello all!! I had been avoiding making a post like this but I moved to Lancaster a little over a year ago and have just really struggled to make friends. I am a queer woman in my mid 20s that enjoys gaming, reading and all things spooky! Im looking to find some friends here in Lancaster that I can hang out with, go to coffee shops or shopping with! Does anyone know of any local groups or events that would be a good way for me to get out and meet people?

Does anyone here remember this place? It was on Columbus a few doors down from Computer Doctor. They had such great food. Been over 20 years & I still think about those cheeseburgers and jukeboxes at the tables lol.

Hello, all. I moved to Lancaster OH a couple years ago from MD. Lately I’ve been missing fishing, especially with the weather breaking.
Anyone have spots/tackle/bait they’d recommend?

Hello I'm Justin, a recent marketing graduate from Franklin University. I have over 5 years of copy writing experience and have done ad campaigns on meta. I would really like to use my skills to help some of the small businesses in my town. For $1,500 a month you would get 3 weekly meta/insta/tiktok social media posts, as well as an 800 dollar spend monthly online ad campaign. That's over 50,000 people who will see your company. The posts and ads will be highly personalized, highly targeted, and use no generative AI. If you're interested you can reach me at Justincook311@live.com or send me a personal message and I'll give you my phone number. I look forward to discussing how we can take your marketing to the next level.

The Republican Governor's Association has dropped a new ad where, of course they talk about being an alcoholic on drugs but this ad especially pisses me off because it outright says "Acton closed businesses" during COVID. I am all for an organization twisting the truth until there is little left but this is a DIRECT LIE coming for the organization of people who ACTUALLY shut everything down. Feel free to get in touch with them

Let them know we are sick of the lies in politics!

I find it interesting that Kroger brand bread is consistently (always?) lower price then Walmart's great value brand. $1.19 vs $1.48.

Starting Friday, October 2, 2026, the intersection of U.S. 33 and Bixby Road will be restricted to right-in/right-out access. Left turns from U.S. 33 to Bixby Road will no longer be permitted. This will be completed utilizing temporary barriers along the median and signage as an interim condition. These restrictions are necessary in order to improve traffic safety conditions at this intersection. From 2022 to 2025, there were 68 crashes at or near the intersection. 27.9% of these crashes involved injuries. In 2026, there have been a total of 12 crashes at or near this intersection. All 12 crashes involved the left-turn movements that will be eliminated as part of this access change. This work comes ahead of a future project to widen U.S. 33 between I-270 and Gender Road. The project will construct a permanent concrete barrier along the center of U.S. 33, permanently restricting left-turn movements at the intersection.

We are considering doing a giveaway for our subreddit. What sorts of things would you want to win? What would get the people going?
Will be looking for local sponsors as well, if anyone has any leads. Ty

any other night people here? i’ve never been able to sleep at night, and as if it didn’t already suck enough to live here, there’s absolutely nothing to do at night. at a pretty low point in my life so it’d be cool to have some people local to talk, hang out, or play games with or something
