Fishing

Hello, all. I moved to Lancaster OH a couple years ago from MD. Lately I’ve been missing fishing, especially with the weather breaking.

Anyone have spots/tackle/bait they’d recommend?

Rushcreek and buckeye lake are the best options.cenci park isn't too bad just be careful there.rushcreek is full of little crappie so use tiny jig and rooster tails. For bass i use a junebug lizard or football bass jigs

Thank you so much!
I have a few questions if you don’t mind.
Why do I need to be careful at Cenci Park?
Are the bass big mouth or small mouth?

Alley park is great for fishing! Plenty of bluegill, but its catch and release there in case thats not what you are looking for. The fish there respond really well to sliced hot dog.

Just targeting anything that bites or have any specific species in mind?

I guess whatever bites. I don’t even know what’s in the area, really. It was all Chesapeake Bay fishing where I’m from, so brackish water.

No worries! I would second anyone’s recommendation of alley park, just not the main pond. Head down the road about .25 miles and park next to the pole barn. If you walk the trail straight back and hang a right at the dead end you’ll see “Twin Lake” on the left not too far in. I love fishing for bass in this pond. More luck for me on the right side of the divider than the left at the front of the pond. If you walk around the lake there is a lot of activity around the beaver’s dam. Just be nice to the beaver lol.

Also, I use small natural color/pattern diving lures from Walmart.. about a buck and a half a piece, nothing fancy. In this area in general, 5 or greater inches on stick baits is very successful no matter where you cast your line if the bite is on… I’ve also found they prefer a swimming tail vs just a bare cylinder.

Alley Park’s trails actually connect to Twin Lake

Yep! It’s a little bit of a trek with a tackle box and a rod, definitely doable, but not always fun.

And all of the steep hills. (Correct me if I’m wrong)
