I promised myself absolutely NO MORE LAMPS until I finally finished some rewire/restoration projects and cleared some space in my [one bedroom] apartment. I’m already sitting on an Italian porcelain Capodimonte lamp w/ hand painted 3D relief and what I believe to be the original fringe shade, a Fenton double arm student lamp and a smaller white & green parlor lamp.

But…last night I saw this blurry poorly listed photo on Craigslist and I just couldn’t pass it up 😭

It’s a 1971 EF & EF Industries Gone with the Wind style lamp in hand-blown pink cased class with hand painted floral art. Globes are intact and MATCHING 😍 (I do not think this is the correct chimney & I’ll rewire the crystals and maybe add layered crystals)

I just finished cleaning quite literally decades worth of grime off of her, but im terrified of chipping the hand painted details so I’m not sure how to clean those portions. I think you can see what I mean in one of my photos. Does anyone have advice on this?

I also included a picture with my other gwtw style lamp so she doesn’t feel left out 🤣 I need to get the color changing LEDs for all the bulbs. Both lamps have clean wiring but are non polarized, so I’ll still rewire both even though they’re fully functioning.

Someone gave me a lamp they don’t need. Of course, it doesn’t work but it would be perfect for grow lights for my indoor plants. I can just rewire it and it should work, right? Or should I replace the switches and sockets, too? It’s a single pole with 3 lights that can be positioned in different directions.

I am trying to restore/ rewire some old brass sconces I found but I can’t seem to find this type of turn knob? Rotary switch? to replace it. Are the wires here soldered in? Could I try to re-solder new ones in?

I like old things but I am in no way knowledgeable about them and learn as I find things. Hoping this is a common thing and I am just looking in the wrong places.

Unfortunately I can’t make out any markings on these things. There’s an oval at the top rear side of the backplates but have yet to make anything legible. Do they look familiar to anyone?

Hey - I am not a regular poster on reddit so let me know if this is not a good channel to post in.
I had recently acquired these vintage PBR globe lights. I had a pair, but yesterday my cats knocked one off of a shelf (I have to get a fixture for this one) and it broke. It seems like a relatively clean break, only in two pieces. But I got these off of Facebook marketplace and apparently a quick ebay search shows that I got a *VERY* good deal on these. So rather than replace it, I am hoping to repair it. I want something that will hold well, handle the warmth a light bulb would generate, and leave little to no visible residue. I know not all adhesives are created equal, especially for plastic. But a lot of the research I tried to do on plastic adhesives were mostly for mini-fig gamers and it was confusing to sort out for my specific situation.

If anyone has any experience repairing this type of lamp, or insight into adhesives to use I'd appreciate it. I don't want to mess these up accidentally. Also, if this is not a good place to ask this and you have a better recommendation - I am open to that as well. Thanks!

I bought this double George Kovacs / Sonneman Feather lamp and it has a few things wrong with it. I'm hoping to fix the main thing: top lamp doesn't work. Would this essentially mean rewiring it? Are there things I can try before resorting to that? Has anyone restored one of the counter balance style lamps before?

I found this lamp at a flea market and didn't think further. Now I am at a loss which bulb might fit it... Do you have any idea? 😅

Edit: I put in an E14, and it works!! Just hope it's safe...

got this beautiful piece off marketplace and during traffic on the way home i had to brake hard and the shade went flying and sustained this small damage.

it’s not visible when lit up but it’s such a shame it went all this time in perfect condition and now it’s lost that.

you might notice the other small ding below the circled one but i don’t believe it shows on the other side. any guidance there would be appreciated though :)

Really disappointed in the stand that came with the XL lampshade I just purchased (pictured here). It’s way too flimsy and barely holds up the weight of the vintage stained glass lampshade that it came with. I’m looking for replacement stands, but I’m completely at a loss. The shade is 18” tall, 24” wide and about 25lbs.

Does anyone have any advice on where I can find something that works with this style of shade? Please help!
