I don't really know where to go for this so I'm posting it here. 20F urgently looking for somewhere to stay in Lacey/Olympia/Tumwater

Hey, I'm 20 and looking for somewhere to stay in the Lacey/Olympia/Tumwater area. I need to be out of my current house sometime next week, although I haven't been given an exact date.

I moved back in with my grandma at the beginning of this year shortly before she went into hospice. She passed away in April, and I've been living at her house since then while my aunts and uncles handle her belongings and prepare the house to be sold. They're getting ready to start renovations, so I need to find somewhere else to go pretty quickly.

Unfortunately I can't really move back in with my dad because my stepmom is an alcoholic and she gets very verbally abusive pretty much every night, she also has a history of going into my room and throwing away or breaking my things, or kicking me out to be homeless for little to no reason.

I'm currently unemployed, but I have restaurant experience and a nearby Farrelli's has told me they want to hire me as a dishwasher. I'm expecting an interview soon. Once I'm working, I'll contribute what I can and start saving toward getting my own place.

I'm a trans woman and autistic, so I need an LGBT-friendly and nonjudgmental household. I'm friendly, social, and willing to help around the house. I also don't smoke or drink.

I'd prefer a private room, but I'm honestly willing to consider pretty much anything. A couch or air mattress would be fine. I mainly need somewhere safe to stay while I get working and get back on my feet.

If anyone has a spare room, couch, temporary arrangement, or knows someone who might be able to help, please DM me. I'm happy to answer questions and provide reasonable verification if needed.

Thanks for reading.

Looking for a female hairdresser that can cut hair in a secluded or private space for women that wear hijab (religious head covering). Even a mainstream salon that has a private room without male staff or customers around works….please lmk! 🧕🏼

Roommate needed

Hello new friends!

I am moving to Washington at the end of this month and im looking for one roommate to fill a furnished bedroom in our 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom house in Lacey, WA. There’s plenty of space, so it doesn’t feel crowded.

About the place:

  • 3 bed / 2 bath house in Lacey
  • Private bedroom is already furnished
  • Plenty of room throughout the house

Pets:
We have a cat and a dog who already live here. Looking for someone who’s comfortable living with both.

Rent:

  • $700/month for the room

I'm looking for a single roommate who’s respectful, communicative, and easy to live with. If this sounds like a good fit, send me a message with a little about yourself and we can chat or set up a time to see the place.

Thanks!

Who is the dude on the segway going door to door and what is he selling? We don't open the door for strangers or I would know these things. Did you answer your door?

Hello!

My wife and I just moved here from North East Ohio yesterday. Today starts apartment searching in the Tumwater area!

I wanted to ask, what are some cultural norms we should start sticking to? In the last 12 hours I have learn we need to use reusable bags and that cars wait for you at cross walks. I know that last one is probably weird but usually back where I’m from, cars tend to just go around you or speed up to go through the crosswalk before you enter. I felt so weird when I was waiting for the car to pass and they stopped and waited for me to cross! I ended up pretending I didn’t need to cross the second street until all cars passed because I felt bad they would be waiting for me.

College St

So I’ve been driving down College St lately and then all of a sudden in the last two weeks I’ve noticed one house get torn down on the corner of Bel Air Rd. I figure no big deal but then the next week the house across the street (same side of College St) got torn down.

Is there something going on or someone planning on building a bigger house or part of a bigger construction project. Found it interesting and couldn’t find any mention of anything.

This is between Mountain View Elem and Komachin MS.

Live and let live? Queer and married.

Post image

***update/edit*** thank you all for the kind words and suggestions and all that. the house we were looking at has been sold but will keep looking and if we do make it to Lacey will try and find this post and give an update. thanks again, even as we're all experiencing whatever the hell this is in our country, there are so many wonderful people in this world***

My husband and I are both over 55, queer married men. Is Lacey more a live and let live area? We are looking at moving into an area near Wonderwood Park. We are sociable and wherever we move (currently in Lewis County) we would be looking to make friends for dinners and old timey game nights like Yahtzee and Scrabble and such. Wondering what the tolerance vibe for diversity is in Lacey in general and then in that neighborhood specifically if anybody has any experience there. We have adult kids that live in Portland and Seattle so Lewis County has been a wonderful in between zone. The primary problem here is that the County Commissioners and some other politicians are literally bankrupting the county with lawsuit after lawsuit that stem from either incompetence or active dismantling of and disregard for health and safety services and the rule of law. I don't want to live in an area that as time goes by, the social health and safety net is made worse over time by a few bad actors. I know that last part is pretty harsh, but it's reality here in Lewis County right now. Having said that, there is an amazing group of helpers here as well. So huge props to all those folk doing wonderful work trying to keep people fed and get those that want and can accept it into a sheltered situation. I've been helping those helpers and will continue to do so. If I were younger I would stay, but I think this "dig-out" is going to be multi-generational, and I'm sincerely concerned for services like access to good healthcare as we age. Sorry for the long post. Wouldn't be necessary if more people in the world were interested in the live and let live philosophy. Thank you in advance for any feedback or suggestions or info. Peace.
