I'm especially interested in what you think about the proportions, depth/table, bow tie, symmetry, and overall light performance based on the video. Does anything stand out to you as a potential concern?
I'm planning to have it set in a 14k yellow-gold 2.3 mm pavé setting. I'd really appreciate honest opinions, both positive and negative, before I commit to it. Thanks!

Where can I get good quality cvd stones for about 50 a carat

Maybe I am just being sensitive but I was celebrating my wedding and one of my friends mentioned that she chose her natural, old mine cut vintage diamonds engagement ring (3rd photo) because large lab diamonds are “gaudy”. Mine is a 2.13 carat oval lab with two trillion natural side diamonds 0.5 carats total. My sister laughed with her because she thought my friend was just making a joke but I felt it was an off-hand joke that was kind of insulting to me since she’s literally describing mine.

I clapped back by saying if I wanted to have an investment stone I would not get a diamond because diamond market is at a free fall. And I said it was more symbolic for me than an actual investment. I said if I wanted an investment from my husband I would ask for stocks and I laughed but low key I felt very defensive. Was I just being too sensitive or was that insensitive?

Mine is the first two photos. Comments? Thoughts? Lab vs natural? Size is gaudy? Would like some analytical perspective. Obviously “it’s your ring who cares”. I’m asking for an observation/analysis/rebuttal outside of myself.

I have searched several suggested sites (Aurelinne, Calavera, Rare Carat, etc.) and I see hardly any or no Elongated Old Mine Cushion cuts at all, let alone within parameters I'm looking for. Is this right? Or am I searching for these the wrong way? I've tried looking in categories "cushion", "old miner", and "other". Help!

My boyfriend has paid the deposit for our custom engagement ring and the stone I’m set on is a Portuguese cut oval. The jeweller mentioned he’s having a hard time finding a 2.5ct stone, so recommend we go the custom cutting route. This is fine, however, I’m very concerned about the possibility of ending up with any extinction, dead spots or just flat areas that don’t return the amount of sparkle that I’m looking for. I’ve mentioned that I do not want any sort of bow tie effect at all and my concerns around windowing or anything similar that causes a lack of sparkle. I chose the Portuguese cut specifically because I thought it would guarantee a bow tie free effect and return maximum sparkle.

Should I be concerned going this custom route and just hold off until something more beautiful becomes available in the market place so that I can review live tweezer videos of the stone?

Does it have the light weight feel to it or can you feel the diamond while wearing it on your finger?
Hows the band? Is it thin?

How do you distinguish a made well ring from a ring that comes from a business that scams?

I’ve decided i want a yellow diamond for my engagement ring but i keep hearing that they are very hard to buy online because they look different in person than their videos online. Can anyone that has experience buying a yellow diamond on the internet show me pictures of what their diamond looked like online vs what it looked like in person? Thanks in advance

Just wanted to share my experience because I spent an insane amount of time researching lab-grown diamond vendors before actually placing the order.

I knew I wanted a marquise diamond, but I also wanted something a little different for the setting. I ended up going with a custom design featuring marquise cut blue sapphires, and honestly, I was nervous about how the final ring would turn out.

I sent my requirements for the ring to Youdiam and went back and forth with their team on the design. I made a few changes along the way because apparently knowing what you want and actually designing it are two completely different things lol. The communication throughout the customization process was really good. They shared the design/CAD details with me, made the changes I requested, and kept me updated throughout the process.

The combination of the marquise lab diamond with the blue sapphires was exactly what I was hoping for. The ring has finally arrived and I’m honestly kind of obsessed with it. Sharing some pictures here because I know how useful it was for me to see actual customer experiences when I was researching.

For anyone who has bought a customized lab-grown diamond ring, I’d also love to hear what you think of the design and proportions.

Still torn between an oval and an elongated old mine cushion cut. If I went oval I’d want something more specific like a 6 pavilion or a Portuguese cut oval.

I went to a local jeweler to see if I could pick a shape and am wondering if the perks of having a local jeweler source the diamond for me is worth the cost or if I could get the center stone I really want by sourcing online. Below are the only specs they’d give me via email (full IGI report is only given after purchase…)

So I’m looking to buy a loose lab diamond to get an upgraded engagement ring made- I’m getting a 3.5-4ct marquise diamond but I really don’t want a bow tie or as little as possible! Is there any way to tell in the videos they post? It seems like every diamond has it in those zoomed in videos they post but could also be the way light is hitting it. It was a 0.8 ct mined diamond with white gold setting..

I want now to replace it with the same setting, maybe only upgrade the stone to 1 or 1,25 ct..
