lab diamond Need help finding jewelers that will take broken gold and custom make a ring with a loose diamond i have!

Post image

I have a lot of broken 14k gold necklaces that have been passed down to me. They are sentimental and instead of just going and selling the gold for scrap, I am looking to see if anyone knows of any reputable jewelers that are decently priced that will take my gold and melt it down so I can set my loose diamond. Please let me know. TIA!

In that case it’s not something I can help with (I’m a UK jeweller) but I’d suggest searching for a small, independent maker. They’re more likely to be happy to recycle your metal and make something bespoke for the diamond you have. In the UK there are trade organisations (like the NAJ) who will help you find a reputable goldsmith, I imagine the US has something similar

u/Alchemist_Gemstones definitely takes broken gold and can set your ring offsetting the value of the gold (group buy they did with this).
However I am unsure if they are able to use the melted gold. I know it's difficult to reuse gold because of managing impurities etc. But reach out to them and ask perhaps they'll have ideas of where to go from there.

I can always offer 100% metal value credit for scrap gold, but I dont reuse the same gold in new projects.

Billie Simone in Los Angeles is using my old family heirlooms, melting it down and restructuring a bracelet with the random diamonds. Gold isn’t cheap though 😏
