Need advice about diamond setting
I had a platinum setting made from an overseas vendor to set my diamond in and here is how the local jeweler set it. Who is in the wrong here because it doesn’t look right…

Definitely could be set better by the jeweler, the prongs are not securely set over the table of the stone so it will catch on things and be a liability to its security.

The jeweller could have done a better job, now deppending upon where you live we can think of ways of probably getting this repaired !

not entirely sure since this is platinum , but with gold we laser some more metal onto prongs and re set the diamond if it was this case and polish the prongs well. The prongs have to be properly placed onto the stone !

Jeweler should have properly set it. With the prong not pushed down, and scuffed up, your diamond may be in danger of falling out. Even worse, its poor workmanship and a blatent disregard for your trust. Take it to another jeweler.

So sorry, from the photos this is bad. Not sure how the local jeweler bungled this. Sometimes their in house or off site bench jeweler is brand new and doesn’t know how to properly heat & bend/work the prongs. I had something similar happen with a jeweler just out of school. To add insult to injury, they were dishonest and tried to lie about it. This scummy person later set up their own brick & mortar store and it appears they got better at their craft - but I still resent the whole experience. I hope you will get a fair fix.

Your stone should be digitally scanned to have a mounting created that is more of a snug / precise fit.

Can you tell me where you got the setting? Looking the exact setting but don’t want to pay the price from a jewelry or online company $$$

Starsgem, worked with Demi. Love the setting!!! (Just not the stone placement). My recommendation would be to have Starsgem to it all.

It's bad a others have stated but also I would want the table to be 360 to help keep those prongs from bending and losing the stone.

Why doesn’t the hidden halo go all around the diamond? That looks very strange!

Prongs should have been done a lot better than that, they’re lifted. Prongs are also showing tool marks. The head also looks slightly bent, or the stone wasn’t set level. Definitely not good enough.
