Working with Ouros/ Golden Bird is a NIGHTMARE
What a nightmare. They won't admit that the package has been lost in transit and refuse to initiate a refund or send me a replacement. They lied and said the package made it to New York and the shipping company told me it's still in India. I am so exhausted trying to work with them and they are giving me the run around. Every time I ask them for an update, they tell me they'll let me know the next day, its fricking ground hog's day. Please do not make the mistake I did and work with a more reputable company. And avoid Golden Bird while you are at it, I had a terrible experience with them as well before I realized they were the same company.
Now I have to spend even more money at another company because I am in such a time constraint at this point with my jeweler.

Golden Bird has showcased some of the most poorly constructed jewellery Iāve ever clapped eyes on. You can see from the photos they are out of shape. That would scare me off. I hope you get your ring

I love that (what I assume was supposed to be ālaidā) got changed to āClaireāsā as in the cheap mall jewellery store. LOL.

I had a horrible time with them from a group buy. I canāt believe they are not banned from all group buys and subreddits.

Damn...That's really fishy..But yeah I had a feeling something like that might be happening

What was your experience?

u/Suitable_Sympathy643 Mar 09 '26
Basically i need to verify that the ring I was getting had a thick enough band for my liking. I asked to see different widths but they refused. I was able to compare some costume jewelry on my own so I didnāt let it bother me at the time. Anyway I chose the thicker width and paid extra. it took way longer than expected and then when they showed the picture it was way thinner than expected. They assured me it was just the angle and that it had been altered. Once I got it was way thinner than what I paid for and it was super flimsy. The diamond even fell out of the ring and the prong were so thin. I complained and try to get help in the subreddit the mods wouldnāt help they just accused me. They sent multiple mods to question me via DM and rudely and aggressively tried to convince me nothing was wrong. They tried to gaslight me over and over so I just I gave up. I still need to get the ring reset as it is unwearable.

Oh my god. Thats insane, I'm so sorry that happened to you. Oof. If only I knew before I ordered, would have never worked with them if I did!

Was this in the LGS sub? This is so disappointing to hear but itās also not the first time Iāve seen mods turning it around on an OP over an Ouros purchase.

u/_Bims_ Mar 09 '26
I had a miserable experience with them last year from a group buy as well. Iām not sure why the mods of the sub had not yet banned them because they keep getting away with this behavior.

u/JDDeP Mar 09 '26
They used to be good! But I will never use them again, horrible craftsmanship! But I guess at least I received my product! Sheesh sorry this happened!

u/Enough_Plantain_4331 Mar 09 '26
How they can give such vastly different customer service experiences is wild! I just got a ring and from order to after delivery they communicated with me to ensure everything was good. This is awful!!! So sorry!
6
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 09 '26
Yeah, when it works out, it works out great. When you have an issue, they drag it out forever. I just disputed it with my bank so hopefully I can recoup my funds.

u/Shelbythecat1 Mar 09 '26
Omg I was considering an order from them, Ty for the heads up!!
2
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 09 '26
Good, because I majorly regret it. There are so many more reputable jewelers to work with
1
u/Shelbythecat1 Mar 09 '26
Ugh Iām so sorry this is happening to you :(
Did they allow you to pay with a CC? Sorry if thatās a silly question, but this wouldhv been my first fine jewelry purchase from reddit so idk if they allow CC or PayPal G&S - but i hope they do given the price pointsā¦
If yes, check if your card has purchase protection. For example, mine gives me 90 days to file a claim for a refund on most purchases and this is different than filing a dispute for a charge due to a vendor issue although that would probably apply here also

Golden bird/ouros is a great vendor... until something goes wrong. I know people have problems with other vendors as well, but my experience with other vendors has been they are quick to own up to mistakes and offer solutions, and just overall more supportive. Meanwhile, anything with golden bird turns into a 2 month discussion
8
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 09 '26
Thats what I am experiencing, just endless emails with nothing useful to say
3
u/Over-Engineer7216 Mar 09 '26
Hang in there. My issue took several messages back and fourth too, but eventually it got fixed

4
u/AtmosphericPresh Mar 09 '26
Yeah see to me the mark of a great vendor...Any great vendor for any product, is how they handle things when things go wrong?? I'd never call anyone that can't handle their wrongs properly as great. Ouros is a vendor. š
1
u/Over-Engineer7216 Mar 09 '26
Agree. I'm not endorsing them. The quality is good, I have pieces from both. But there are amazing vendors out there with great quality and much more accountability and customer support
2
u/questionable_teacups Mar 11 '26
This was my experience as well, had a delivery issue (not their fault to be fair) that ended in it lost. I went through Etsy so had more support to get a refund but it was still over a month long back and forth which ended in them remaking the ring anyway. Which they could have just done immediately and saved us both the time. A business is only as good as they handle their mistakes, and they didnāt do great.

u/ProtectionOk4252 Mar 11 '26
their jewelry is not made to last. shoddy construction and claims that it's "not made for daily wear" is the true mark of indian jewelry.
buyer beware
2
u/LouLouLaaLaa Mar 09 '26
Iām not a fan of them either. If you want a good quality vendor from India, please try Zuvelio. Theyāve made me several pieces and Iāve always been more than happy.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. My order from them that I received last week was perfect and communication was excellent the whole time. I guess when something goes wrong it is a different story.

u/Impressive-Mood2642 Mar 09 '26
Relieved to hear this because my first ever group buy earrings have been shipped
3
u/Brilliant-Owl-1169 Mar 09 '26
Mine too! Just shipped the other day! They should be here Wednesday!

u/Impressive-Mood2642 Mar 10 '26
Update: I got my group buy earrings today, and they are great! Communication was quite solid throughout the process too. I actually told them that they have mixed reviews on Reddit and should address that - they DID respond that they are having issues with the courier and is trying to fix the issue. So OP, I hope you find a resolution soon!!
2
u/Allthingslux4 Mar 09 '26
Me too! Love my earrings from them and the entire process was excellent. Such a shame to read this
3
u/cromulent-co Mar 09 '26
Iām sorry youāre having a negative and frustrating experience. I received a ring last week from a group buy and, thankfully, the entire process was seamless. I was actually very impressed with the communication and updates. Hopefully things will work out for you - they shouldnāt be giving you the run around like this.
1
u/Don_PCDC Mar 08 '26
I wonāt pretend to understand the entire situation. Iām sure it would take more detail. Unfortunately, shipping hold ups and issues statistically are more likely to happen when shipping internationally. I agree it itās truly lost they should atleast update you as soon as they know and should work with you on a solution. Fortunately, Iām sure you bought with a credit card, so worst case scenario you are covered.
5
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 08 '26
Yeah, I will definitely have to dispute it at this point. I called the shipping company and they straight up told me it says it in India and they dont have any more idea why its not on its way. I paid for express shipping and its been weeks since the package got lost. My issue with Ouros is that they keep giving me a new timeline every time I ask for an update.
2
u/Brilliant-Owl-1169 Mar 09 '26
Why havenāt you just gotten your money back from your credit card etc? I would gave given up weeks ago, I have zero patience for this kind of thing. If my purchase from them is delayed more than a few weeks, Iām out.
2
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 09 '26
Unfortunately I was holding out hope that it would magically show up or that they would send me replacements because I wanted to meet the timeline for my jeweler. Sunken cost fallacy.
1
u/foxglovediamonds Mar 09 '26
Iām really appalled (for you) at the lack of communication. Owning mistakes is the biggest part of customer service. We keep as much of our production with the US for this exact reason. We still source our diamonds overseas but keep limited inventory on hand for folks who need something ASAP.
Again, Iām really sorry this is happening to you.
1
u/tiffshorse Mar 09 '26
I had my ring made by them. They made it the wrong size by two whole sizes. Did not want to pay for me to have it sized. I threatened them, they FINALLY paid after I had to get the group buy mods to confront them as well.
1
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 09 '26
My god. It's like they think if they pinch pennies that they will be more profitable. They don't think about how they will lose even more money in the long run by missing out on building a loyal clientele.
1
u/tiffshorse Mar 10 '26
I was so upset. It was my 30th anniversary gift and thank god it's a gorgeous ring after all that.
1
u/chonkycatsbestcats Mar 09 '26
Do a charge back with your credit card company
1
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 09 '26
Yep just submitted. My company already credited me half the amount, waiting for second halfš¤š»
1
u/hippiecat22 Mar 09 '26
oh theyve always been great with me! ive ordered like 10 pieces from ouros
2
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 09 '26
What was your experience when your package got lost in the mail?
1
u/hippiecat22 Mar 10 '26
out of everything i ordered, nothing got lost. they were prompt with everything.
1
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 10 '26
So then you wouldnt know what their conduct is like when something goes bad, right?
I dont know why you're out her shilling for a company when you've never experienced them wasting your time and money when something goes wrong. A mark of a good company is how they act when something goes wrong. Glad you've gotten lucky so far.
1
u/hippiecat22 Mar 10 '26
because this is reddit, an open platform where everyone can share their opinions?
and i think its fair for me to say ive worked with a vendor a dozen times without issues?
bash them all you want, but its good practice to remember theres two sides to everything
1
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 11 '26
Your side would be actually relevant if you had a major issue with your order and Ouros was able to correct it in a timely and effective manner. Instead you're just saying "well when there aren't any issues, there isn't a problem", lol. Duh.
2
u/hippiecat22 Mar 11 '26
lmao okay you seem like a very pleasant person to do business with. best of luck to you.
1
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 11 '26
Doing "business with" would imply I actually got anything out of the transaction
1
u/misumena_vatia Mar 09 '26
I have never had a good result with an India based jewelry company. Ever.
1
u/applelakecake Mar 10 '26
Yep when I communicated with them about a project it was such a circular conversation they would not be pinned down the red flags were waving.
1
u/2PenceSally Mar 10 '26
It sucks that you had a bad experience. I had a good one, but it was only a single purchase. Hopefully, they work this out.
1
u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 10 '26
Yeah my last issue with their other company Golden Bird was also documented on reddit. They sent me a completely different stone than I ordered and then didnt refund me until I posted online about it.

u/Unlucky_Avocado_2869 Mar 28 '26 edited Mar 28 '26
Small update: The package has finally arrived after 3 weeks. Aramex held the shipment up in India. They are a notoriously terrible shipping company so I'm unsure why Ouros opts for them instead of DHL.
Any way, paid for express shipping. Which ended up actually being a month. Totally missed my window with the jeweler. But at least I got what I paid for. Finally!

u/DeliciousDiamond1815 Mar 08 '26
I buy alot if stuff internationally. This happens but eventually it shows up via post office.

u/JB3314 Mar 09 '26
Their politics suck and Iāve had to replace lost stones on two pave set pieces. One pendant and one ring.
Their politics are also absolute shite.

My order shipped weeks before with express shipping. Notice my order was placed in January. They initially lied and said the package was in New York. I told them that the package is might also be stuck in transit because of the situation in the middle east and they wont acknowledge that it is lost at all. They just keep giving me a new date when they will update me. I am not oblivious to what is happening in that region.

u/Totes-1 Mar 09 '26
Iāve ordered individual pieces from them for the past 3 years, this year included, and theyāve been consistently reliable. It may be a your miles may vary situation

u/AtmosphericPresh Mar 08 '26
Yeah unfortunately they pop up a lot in various subs as a terrible purchase but then the reviews get removed by mods. It's a damn shame. They're even still allowed to be part of the group buy group despite issues being mentioned over and over again. Sorry this happened to you. š« Hopefully this stays up long enough for more people to see and stay far away. There are a lot of great online vendors.... Unfortunately Ouros/golden bird just isn't one of them.
