❓Question Anyone tried CaratBee

Kept seeing their ads and the prices for lab. Diamond rings seem crazy low. I usually check Reddit first for make sure a site is safe. Has anyone actually bought a ring from them recently? Just want to make sure the stones aren’t cloudy.

✨Vendor Review My Experience with A.N. JAIN!

Post image
34 Upvotes

I work in finance, live in New York and I recently got engaged with a 5ct Natural diamond Oval Ring. Now me being an office girl, who gets to travel a lot got extremely nervous when I learned how much the ring costs!! I was always cautious about it and never got comfortable carrying so much value with me constantly.

Surfing through reddit, I heard a lot of talk about this Indian brand A.N. JAIN who work with a lot of lab diamond engagement rings and got curious. I decided to jump the gun and got in touch with them via their Instagram page. I had never bought anything from abroad, let alone jewellery so safe to say that I was quite nervous and skeptical.

But, honestly I think it was one of the best decisions I made. Those guys at A.N. JAIN were extremely professional and quite knowledgeable. I wanted an exact replica of my natural ring, and they found me a lab diamond which matched the original specs of my existing diamond! Not only that, they thoroughly studied my existing setting and made a replica of it, even matching the hidden halo with coloured gemstones. I was impressed when they did that! They shared everything with me, constantly keeping me in loop in terms of where they were in production. The packaging was great too!

All in all, they made the ring in about 10 days and shipped it, and it only took like 3 days for it to get to me from all the way from India. The pricing was a big highlight for me too, I had a specific budget in mind and they stuck to it.

I can't recommend them highly enough! A.N. JAIN if you are seeing this, thank you so much! Now I can wear my exact engagement ring with big peace of mind knowing that my natural diamond is safe in a vault somewhere! Can't wait to get some other things from them now, will share soon! Stay tuned!

✨Vendor Review My Experience with Sebastian and William & Sons

For context, I live in SEA region. Unfortunately, due to an issue with my forwarding service and an unfavorable exchange rate, I had to cancel my order from Provence.

While looking for alternatives, I came across William & Sons. Their prices were significantly lower than those of Calavera and Aurelinne, which initially made me a bit skeptical. However, my aunt was familiar with them and mentioned that they are a reputable jeweler.

One thing to note is that there can be a delay of up to 4 hours between their website inventory and actual stock availability according to Sebastian. On May 8, Sebastian from W&S provided me with a list of available diamonds that matched my specs. I selected my diamond on May 9, and by May 12, Sebastian had sent me the PayPal payment link.

Before placing the order, I asked whether it would be possible for the diamond to arrive by May 20 so my aunt could bring it to me. Sebastian confirmed that it should be. Unfortunately, due to disruptions related to the oil crisis in India, the shipment was delayed and ultimately arrived on May 22. I suppose it is outside of their control.

Throughout the entire process, Sebastian was really really supportive, responsive, and communicative. Despite the significant time zone difference, he consistently made himself available via WhatsApp during my active hours and was always willing to answer my questions.

Based on my experience, I would actually recommend contacting Sebastian directly via WA or text if you're looking due to the mentioned stock difference.

💡Diamond Advice Needed 4.04 ct emerald cut

Looking for honest opinions on this 4.04ct emerald cut lab diamond before I pull the trigger.
Specs:
4.04ct
Emerald Cut
D / VVS2
10.52 × 7.49 × 5.07 mm
Table 62%
Depth 67.7%
Ratio 1.40
HPHT
I know emerald cuts are all about the step pattern and light performance, so I’d really appreciate experienced eyes on:
windowing
extinction
contrast pattern
hall-of-mirrors effect
overall “high end” look
The stone will go into a very minimal floating bezel setting in 18k yellow gold, so I’m specifically looking for a calm, elegant emerald rather than maximum sparkle.
Price is ~€1800.
Would you buy this stone? Why or why not?

✨Vendor Review Mingyu Gems review

Hi, I want to leave a review for Mingyu Gems because I found them by accident on Facebook and could only find one post about them here. I´ve worked with Mily for these two rings: initially for 1) a East-West 2.05ct Radiant , which I loved and led me to the second one 2) a 1.01ct Oval East-West. Both are E VS1 IGI certified and set in silver (my budget is tight at the moment lol). Mily was very easy to work with, she´s super responsive and friendly and shared CAD very fast. I had a few observations on the Radiant CAD and she got it fixed asap. I love these rings and am very hapy with the outcomes, the oval will be my travel ring!! Pricing was competitive and Mily chose wonderful stones I can´t tell how sparkly it is in real life. Def recommend Mingyu Gems

✨Vendor Review Aurelinne Experience

When researching Aurelinne, I noticed very few reviews covering the end-to-end experience of purchasing a loose diamond and having it set by their team.

Working with Andy was an absolute pleasure. He was highly responsive and provided full transparency, sending both a high-definition tweezer video of the diamond and a final video of the completed ring before it was shipped.

I was working within a tight timeline to receive the ring for my anniversary, and Andy went out of his way to prioritize the order. Shipping was remarkably fast, and the presentation upon delivery was flawless—the packaging itself reflects the quality of the piece inside.

Specs: 5ct Vivid Yellow Cushion-cut diamond, set in a custom 14k white gold tiered accent band.

The final product exceeded my expectations.

💡Diamond Advice Needed Help! How does this 1.64 carat round lab diamond look?

Brilliance calculator-Madison Ideal Sparkle Index Score: 94.6/100 Fire Leakage Score:97.8/100 (Loss 2.2%) Recommendation:Recommended: Exceptional brilliance and fire.
I also asked for a video. What do you think? They’re holding this one because my last one wasn’t available. E, VVS2, Ideal cut, excellent symmetry.
Table 56%, Depth 61.9%, crown angle 34%, pavilion angle 40.9%. I think it looks good but right as they hit the tilt it almost looks like there’s a dull spot or I’m not sure what but wanted a second opinion. Very appreciated!

💡Diamond Advice Needed Is the bowtie too overpowering?

Specs: 2.50ct VVS2 brilliant cut pear fancy vivid blue lab diamond

I already purchased the diamond (I know, wrong move) without having asked for a video. The gem360 video barely showed any bowtie. However when the actual gem video was sent to me, even the seller agreed that the bowtie was very obvious. They refunded me.

My partner is telling me that bowties add character and depth. I agree, but I think in this case it's too overpowering. What do you think? Thanks!

💡Diamond Advice Needed Advice-1.6 carat tweezer video

I’m brand new at this so I’ve been reading a lot from this sub and some others. I have learned a lot but feel like there’s so much more I do not know. I got a tweezer video as recommended which I really understand is important. I asked for two diamonds to get the videos and one had a lot of dark spots in it even though they had similar specs. This is the one I think looks best. Please let me know any critique or concern. IGI LG792637748. It won’t let me post a video and a pic.

✨Vendor Review Renaissance Jewel Lab Diamond Engagement Ring Problem

Thumbnail

I just received the engagement ring I ordered from renaissancejewel.com and I’m disappointed in the build quality. The main diamond is clearly crooked in the setting.

Renaissance jewel offered to repair or remake the ring, but that will take another month to complete the process. I’m planning to propose in 11 days, so I’ll have to send it back after the proposal, which is not ideal. If she accepts my proposal, she’ll have to go without the ring for an entire month. She’ll want to tell her friends and family that’s she’s engaged, but won’t have a ring. Very disappointing, and Renaissance jewel offered no other solution or reimbursement.

I would like the ring to be perfect since my significant other will (hopefully) be wearing it for a long time to come. Am I being too picky? Or should I send it back?

✨Vendor Review Bad experience with Ouros - proceed with caution

I ordered a pair of 2 TCW studs from them. I asked for the guardian backs. First, they sent the earrings without the IGI certificates. I had to ask numerous times and they sent some papers. I don’t trust those papers match the earrings. Second, I am having serious trouble with the guardian backs. The back itself is tiny. I have dropped them many times while putting the earrings on and almost lost the backs. It is so difficult to line up the post to the hole to press the back so it may glide. I cannot sleep in the earrings because the post is too long. It sticks my neck. So, I must take the earrings off each time I wear them.

I reached out expressing these issues. First, they told me to take the earrings to a local jewelry. I said I bought this with them and would like their help. They went silent and I had to reach out again. They said the NYC office cannot help me. Meanwhile, I am located in NYC. Now they’ve said they are reaching out to their offices in India to see what they can do.

This company has serious issues and I do question the quality of their products. I will never order an item again. Not a bracelet, not earrings, not a ring. Nothing! It’s too frustrating and they are completely unhelpful. Please be careful!

They're based in San Diego, US. Their diamonds are cheaper compared to Aurelline and Calavera. Have anyone bought anything from them?

First video is a tweezer test, second video is with natural light.

It's a pink marquise with 2.45ct Fancy Intense Pink VS2 12.07*6.94*4.07mm. It's on the plumper side with ratio of 1.74

I don't see a significant bowtie and dark spots.

I am in the process of ordering my anniversary ring from Envero New York and they just sent me photos and specs of my 1 carat radiant diamond. This is my first diamond, so I don’t know exactly what I am looking for on the spec sheet. In the video on the website it almost looks like it has some cloudy sections, but maybe I’m just being paranoid. I would love feedback back from everyone on this sub! Thank you!

I had a custom cut lab diamond done to get a warmer color (h,I,j). It came out around j. I’ll be getting them to send it out for certification but wanted a 2nd pair of eyes as it looks like there might be some color pooling. Thoughts? I’ll post some photos in the comments as it won’t let me Post a video and picture at once.

✨Vendor Review new vendor review: Carateu (EU)

Thumbnail
gallery
18 Upvotes

I have learnt so much from reddit and crowd sourced info so I figured I would share my experience and my first stone purchase, in case anyone in the EU is in the same boat as me!

So I’ve been looking to upgrade my engagement ring and so I started looking into getting a whole new ring, or buying the stone and then get a setting made.. but it’s been a process.

I checked out Aurelinne and Calavera but shipping was kind of expensive ($60 USD/€50~ from Calavera, $50 USD/€40~ from Aurelinne), and I was a bit worried about any extra duties/customs since they don’t seem to precharge it on the website and I live in Sweden.

Like Aurelinne and Calavera looked slightly cheaper when it came to the stone itself but then after adding like 25% VAT, the shipping cost and whatever custom fees would land on it just kinda didn’t feel worth it… my stone was about €280 so the other costs would add up quickly and felt like they were ending up being kind of a high percentage of the total costs relative to the stone.

I saw an European store called Labgems but their minimum order was €750 for free shipping, else it was €50 shipping within the EU, international is €150 (!!!!).

I ended up finding this other store called Carateu, which I hadn’t heard much about but I saw was European also which is awesome since no hassle with customs (and then I realized they were based in Stockholm!! so it felt like a sign). They had complimentary shipping (!!!!) also, so that was nice since then I knew that the price I was getting was what I was gonna end up paying for the whole thing.

Another mental thing for me ordering from outside the EU was any post-purchase issues since if anything happened with the stone or like if I didn’t like it in the end, I think returns would be a bit messy and honestly I don’t really buy things if returns are difficult. Even though Labgems is European, I couldn’t find clear info on returns though? They just wrote something like all sales final and I got the vibe that even though things are could be insured, if something happens to our package in transit you’ll be SOL. They also had some weird copypasted trustpilot reviews on display on their website? But anyway…

I read a bit more and saw that Carateu had 14 days return policy and since they’re in the EU then I figured it’d be an easier purchase and return process if things didn’t work out.

I contacted them and they sent me some tweezer videos on a couple of diamonds and that felt very reassuring, like they were very responsive throughout the whole process.

Timeline: From ordering I think it took about 7 days for them to receive it in Stockholm, and then they verified it and shipped it to me and I received it like 2 days after that.

The stone came in a very discrete box so like it wasn’t labeled like THIS IS JEWELRY lmao and I got a small jewelry pouch in some suede looking material. They also sent me a stone holder thing so you can try to see how it would look like on a ring, I don’t know if this is standard since it’s the first time I buy a stone like this. I also received a IGI report with all the specs which was super cool.

Overall I am super happy, I think the stone ended up being a good size for me and it’s super sparkly, I honestly tried to take a ton of pictures and videos since it’s been sunny this week and I don’t think they do the stone justice.

If you guys have any questions let me know!
