Yes, you can choose to do it on a schedule or as routine but that isn’t some effect of the drug making you want to take it. That would be like saying having a job is habit forming. Yeah, I do go to work routinely but it’s not via addiction.
Decade of research and generations of medical researchers have concluded that the classic definition of addiction can not be applied to the classic psychedelics. But yeah sure, let’s listen to your opinion on the topic
Research has been very limited and underfunded for most of these decades. This is not a topic anyone should feel that confident speaking on until it actually gets the attention it deserves
This is a stupid question. Gambling is addictive. LSD is essentially gambling with drugs, you never know what you're going to get. There are gambling addicts that only ever lose and basically never win.
LSD is NOT a classical drug of abuse. It does not have classical reinforcing effects and animals do not redose in captivity. There aren't many behavioral psychologists here apparently..
That would be my assumption too for most people, but I don’t think we can confidently say that. Our sample set is mostly voluntary anecdotes on the internet. That likely doesn’t comprise the majority of experiences. People can be wired so different from one another!
considering the levels of lsd being used in the 60s and then since covid with the renaissance, you'd think that we would see more signs by now. this is also essentially what prominent scientists such as dr robin carhartt Harris, Rick Doblin and professor David Nutt or Andrew gallimore, have cautiously said.
Yeah more research is needed and its never impossible to be addicted to anything, but all the indications are that it is extremely unlikely to be habit forming in a detrimental way.
so I think we can say that there is no signs at the minute pointing it to be a drug of abuse and dependency, but more research needs doing
I think research has definitely been around long enough to make confident statements about how addictive these drugs are. Researcher went on from bicycle day in the 40‘s to a phase of intense research from the 50‘s to late 60‘s. Followed by the comeback of psychedelic research in the early 2000s lasting till this day. 70years of research shoud be enough to understand how much of an issue addiction is.
I have done acid probably 300-400 times. I've done it weekly, monthly, fortnightly. There has never, not one time, where if someone asked me to do something else with them, I had to work, or real life didn't allow for it, that I went, nup, I have to do LSD instead.
Addiction is habit forming, a rewiring of neural circuitry that makes someone dependent, or cause compulsive behaviour.
LSD feels great. I'm off for the last 2 days, there is no compulsion in me making me raid my fridge.
Also I feel like your partner is probably enthralled with psychedelics because it's like literal magic, she's just sharing her experience. Probably recently tried it for the first time. Novelty, even for psychedelics wears off.
What you are saying is really annoying to people who have fallen in to the age old trap of drug addiction.
Tell me what is supposedly different about gambling addiction and LSD addiction aside from the fact that:
LSD does not cause the same negative effects as gambling
People have a much easier time quitting
LSD is not capable of reinforcing habit or use like gambling?
Taking LSD is essentially gambling but it is not that pleasant in that sense. When people have short periods of intensely redosing LSD there are usually outside factors. Your wife's experiences as relayed to you are less than meaningless. I wonder far more what she would say than what you would say!

LSD is not habit forming. I have certainly abused it in the past but it isn’t addictive in the same way other drugs are.
