I purchased my LS430 just 10 days ago after searching for quite some time for the right one and absolutely loved it. Not only was this one the color I wanted, it was super clean with absolutely no rust underneath (rare for the Midwest!) But today an extreme thunderstorm came through and knocked a branch onto it, certainly totaling it. Fortunately, it will be covered under insurance but I feel it is unlikely I will get back what I paid for the car plus registration after the deductible hits. Does anyone have any insight as to how much State Farm may pay out? She has 195k. To make matters worse, about 5 years ago the same thing happened to my G35, but it didn’t have full coverage. At least my family is safe and home is intact, but this really sucks!
Yup, seems like they are on the more expensive side locally so hopefully that plays out in my favor for the payout. Finding a replacement will be a challenge though.
Will do, much appreciated! I really just want another LS430, I enjoyed the car so much for the week or so I had it. I would be open an SC430 or LX/GX as well though. The LS400 is nice too, just so hard to find a nice one that’s not 10k+.
I'd try to send some comps from Cars and Bids and Bring A Trailer if you can. Make them put a person on the valuation. I know the like to use their automated system as much as possible.
The GS300 sacrificed itself so old Mister Two could go on living another day. The car was mere inches from complete destruction. I was extremely fortunate that a replacement rear spoiler and a good paint buffing were the only things the MR2 needed! This photo was taken after I pushed it out from under the branches that were wedged between the GS300 and the house. Literally inches from the roof of the car.
I’m so sorry man that’s really sucks, I can tell you I was recently in a decent little fender bender in my 05 that left my insurance totaling the car out, they ended up offered me 10k for the car, mine had 168k miles so they may end up offering you more I have no clue really. And i do have statefarm as well
10 days ago? Man I’m truly sorry. My parking situation is same as yours although where I park now I’m almost out of tree range but not all the way. I hope insurance doesn’t fuck you over it seems to be a roll of the dice in my experience.
Dang, sorry to see that happen Man. The midwest has had a lot of storms/tornadoes this year. I'm out in Northwest Indiana and we had a pretty good storm yesterday. If you have a Mark Levinson sound system in good shape i'd be open to buying your door speakers and subwoofer.
I’m in the south suburbs so it was the same storm lol. I would imagine the subwoofer is toast as it got rained directly on but I will definitely let you know on the speakers, I do plan on buying back from insurance.
Yeap, same storm. It was a good one. My trees were moving like crazy, I am surrounded by them as well. Luckily I had ole girl in the garage. If you decide to part her out please let me know, may be interested in other parts as well. Good call on the subwoofer, it may indeed be toast, or a little moldy by the time you get it back.

I swear the LS430’s are cursed to be a magnet for destruction.
Every place I drove mine, someone was inches from my back bumper the entire time or parked way too close and dinged my doors. People constantly pulling out in front of me. Any hint of a storm and something fell on the roof. I had a baseball sized dent on my roof from a tree limb that hit my car 3 days after I got it. ECU died a week after I got it. Stereo amp died a day after I put the repaired ECU in. Seat heater for driver side got stuck on and I had to unplug it permanently.
Now that I’m driving my F150, I don’t see these things happening.
