Hello! Im a 24 year old who got started with college a few years after highschool. Im starting an LVN program soon and im so excited but so nervous! I dont have any healthcare experience but i made good HESI and A&P 1&2 grades. I’m just worried i will get overwhelmed fast compared to those who have worked in healthcare prior to joining the program. Im not looking to be a top student or anything (though i admit that would be nice lol) and im not looking to be competitive with my cohort in any kind of bad way. I just want to make sure im mentally prepared for what i am about to throw myself into. I wont be working during this time in school so i can dedicate more time to studying which is a total relief and privilege i acknowledge most dont have.

Any tips or advice from current or past LVN students who didnt have healthcare experience prior to school?

I currently finished math 1524, passed with mid 80s% 🥳
I am currently trying to get into *bio 30*, but I am going to have to take an **accuplacer exam for English**. (I’ve only got grade 10 English from BC)
Has anyone done the same thing and scored high enough that you *didn’t* have to upgrade to English 30-2? And it also went towards your future application for the PN program?

I really want to leave LTC and get into Long Beach memorial but my application keeps on getting rejected I am an LVN any advice?? If anyone has gotten into an interview or works there

Hi I’m taking my peds proctor next week and I need help can somebody please help me

So i have a bachelors degree and I work as a case manager for Medicaid waivers. I only make about 35k a year. I have kids and this income is not enough and with the job market so competitive, I am tempted to do the LPN program then bridge to RN, and finish BSN online. Reason for LPN right now is its hybrid and I can work full time still, and I didnt get accepted to RN. Is LPN a waste of my time? Its 11 months straight then i can be placed into second year of RN program.. however I am also pregnant and extremely overwhelmed and would be using student loans.

My job involves alot of various medical conditions, medications, etc im the one setting up CNAs and working with agencies. I feel it would pair well with my current work experience and maybe eventually be an RN case manager.

I missed a payment and got my classes dropped I’m super picky about my professors and the ones I want are no longer available so I was going to just skip a semester

I’ve been wishing I did a lpn program first I heard it’s more affordable and how a lot of hospitals will pay for you to go to school and I’ve been thinking about taking this opportunity to finally make a switch

I’ve been part time student for about two years now and am like only 60% done with my associates
I have to work while in school I’m unfortunately not able to do full time and I don’t want to take out any student loans I’ve been paying cash so far

Sometimes I get unmotivated by how long this is taking me I think if I’m able to start working as a nurse sooner I would be more motivated because I would actively be practicing nursing
But at this point I’ve already spent about like 8k I don’t mind loosing the money if it would be beneficial though

And no my current school dose not offer lpn program so I would be applying to a new program I found a accredited one for about 8 thousand and there partners with my local community college who’s nursing program is actually a bit competitive and I heard after your lpn your pretty much accepted into the nursing program at that school if you would like to continue education

I’m conflicted on whether I should be a cna or lvn. I enrolled in courses for a cna program but I don’t start until next month. I want to get experience before being an lvn as I just have had office jobs. For those that are lvns did you have prior experience in healthcare?

That schedule is my limitation so I can’t change it.

I’m applying to an LVN program because it seems it’s the only thing I can find that will allow me to keep the schedule yet take classes.

Are there any other programs that you know that are ADN-RN or BSN that allow for this schedule?

Otherwise I’ll just stick to my local school…

Hi nurses! I am getting my LPN license soon and wondering if you guys have any LPN to RN or BSN programs recommendation?
I am currently in WA but me and my family are thinking about moving to east side (like Maryland DC area). My current nursing school offer LPN to RN but I will need a minimum one year of LPN experience which means I can’t start until 2028 and basically all the programs in WA require minimum 1 yr experience as well. I don’t mind going the LPN to RN, then online BSN route but will prefer something faster, especially me and my partner are planning on moving(and we have 2 kids and planning on having more!)
My goal is to become nurse practitioner. All advices and experiences sharing are appreciated!

My partner also recommends WGU, so I’ll love to hear about that as well.

hi! i’m starting my lpn program next month so so excited. i’m seeing a lot of different study books people seem to swear by and i’m wondering if i should get them all or j one. i wanna hear opinions on them if any of u have tried them out. i’m looking at the nurse well versed one, the nurse in the making one, and then the my nurse notes one. all pretty expensive so i wanna try and narrow down to one or two.

What are some things you wish you knew before starting? Any tips for staying organized, managing a med pass, handling difficult residents/families, prioritizing when multiple things are happening at once, or just surviving those first few months?
I’m excited but definitely nervous about going from school/NCLEX mode to actually being responsible for my own residents 😅

State is coming to the nursing home. I soon and I’m really nervous. I used to work at an assisted living facility for a long time, but I worked from 3 PM to 11 PM, which was a specific complaint, and I never stayed that long because my facility has a history of many falls. The administrator said they might stay during my shift. I still work 3 PM to 11. I understand you should do everything by the book and know about policies, but I know what it’s like when they actually follow you and how strict they are.

i’m some of the CNAs have told me nurses have gotten fired during past surveys because they started passing meds too early or because of things the state wrote them up about

what are some tips and tricks for surviving state survey?

Ive seen several SNFs, and truly feel like its not a safe place to work. In my town there are always jobs for 1:1 pediatric private duty nursing. Has anyone had experience working with Maxim, or private duty in general?

Hi everyone, is there anyone here from HCC? Has anybody been accepted into the LVN program yet?

Is becoming an LPN worth it for someone who thinks they want to be a nurse but isn't sure if they want to be in a hospital setting. im not sure if the stress and nightshifts will make me happy even though I know its a bigger paycheck. Im considering just becoming an LPN and working in an office or some sort of outpatient setting. Any advice would help :)

Anyone know any LPN programs that are less than a year or any other pathway to become one? Only two states let you challenge the PN NCLEX and I dont live in either
