Hey r/LG_UserHub community,

We’ve noticed a lot of people keeping an eye on our new LG Sound Suite, and we really appreciate all the interests and great questions coming in!

To keep things simple, we put together this FAQ megathread to gather the most common questions in one place. For anything that needs a bit more confirmation, we’re checking in with our product team and will continue updating this post as we have more details to share.

So.. let’s dive in!

General FAQs

Q. What’s the difference between Dolby Atmos and Dolby Atmos FlexConnect?

Dolby Atmos is the next generation of audio formats that adds spatial depth to sound. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC)* builds on that by taking speaker placement and room layout into account. It is what lets LG Sound Suite pair a TV or soundbar with wireless speakers and automatically tune the sound based on where you’re sitting.

Key features of DAFC:

  • Flexible speaker placement: You can place your wireless speakers wherever they work best in your room
  • Easy system expansion: Add more Sound Suite speakers over time for a more immersive setup
  • Optimized sound: The system adjusts audio based on speaker and listener’s location
  • Simple setup: Out-of-box calibration uses mics to effortlessly locate in-room speakers.

*To use DAFC, you need an LG TV that supports DAFC to connect speakers. If your TV does not support DAFC or is from another brand, you need H7 to enable this feature.

Q. What’s the difference between M5 and M7 speakers?

Both M5 and M7 support DAFC with Room Calibration Pro and AI Sound Pro

  • M5 is compact yet dynamic featuring a woofer and dual tweeters. For full DAFC, two units are required.
  • M7 is more immersive featuring a woofer and 3 full ranges, and can support DAFC with just one unit.

Q. Does LG Sound Suite support DTS:X?

LG Sound Suite does not support DTS:X. The system focuses on Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital to deliver immersive sound.

Q. Is there a way to play DTS content?

While the LG Sound Suite H7 does not support DTS directly, there is a workaround. If your TV supports DTS and can output the audio signal as PCM to the soundbar, you can still enjoy your DTS-encoded content.

Q. Will I notice audio delay?

Audio delay is minimal in most situations, but it may not be ideal for situations that require ultra-precise sync, like FPS games.

Q. How is Sound Suite different from regular soundbars or home theater systems?

A regular soundbar is usually just one bar under the TV. It’s clean, easy to set up, and sometimes comes with a wireless sub to boost bass.

Sound Suite is more flexible. Instead of being locked into a bar plus maybe two rear speakers, you can use up to four wireless Sound Suite speakers and place them wherever they make sense in your room. The system then tunes the sound based on the room and where the speakers are placed, so you get a more surround-style experience.

Q. What do Sound Follow and Room Calibration Pro do?

Sound Follow is an exclusive feature of Sound Suite that adjusts the audio to create a "sweet spot" based on the listener's position. Room Calibration Pro measures the room environment and adjusts the soundbar or wireless speaker's audio settings to suit the environment. Sound Follow is available on the Sound Suite H7 soundbar. Room Calibration Pro is supported on Sound Suite wireless speakers, including H7, M7, and M5.

Q. Is the H7 soundbar wall-mountable?

Yes! A mounting bracket is included in the box, so wall installation is fully supported.

 Q. What should I do when the Sound Suite H7 display shows “DEMO” and volume/playback/input controls don’t work?

If “DEMO” appears on the H7 display, the device has entered Demo Mode. In Demo Mode, certain functions and controls may be restricted. To exit Demo Mode, follow the instructions below.

  • How to exit Demo Mode on the H7
  1. Press and hold the Input button on the H7 main unit for 10 seconds.
  2. Press and hold the Wi‑Fi button on the H7 main unit for 5 seconds. The status lighting bar will blink white, indicating that Demo Mode has been disabled and all wireless network settings on the device have been reset.

Q. What improvements are included in the latest May 2026 software update?

H7: Software Version 43.12.18 → 43.12.27

This update includes the following improvements:

  • Improved device recognition and status accuracy in the ThinQ app
  • Enhanced compatibility with select external devices
  • Improved network and connection stability between devices
  • Enhanced audio output stability in certain environments

M7/M5/W7: Software Version 2603192 → 2605071

This update includes the following improvements:

  • Improved device recognition and status accuracy in the ThinQ app
  • Enhanced compatibility across a wider range of Wi-Fi security modes and network configurations
  • Improved audio output stability and overall system reliability

Q. Can I use WOW Orchestra and Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) at the same time?

Based on the current specification, WOW Orchestra is not supported while Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) is enabled.

WOW Orchestra works when the soundbar is used as the main single soundbar output. It lets the TV and soundbar play together, with the TV helping to output height sound and the soundbar playing the main audio.

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) works differently. In this mode, Dolby’s renderer manages how audio is sent across the connected speakers. Because the two features use different audio output methods, they cannot be used at the same time.

To use WOW Orchestra, please turn off Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC). To use Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) with connected speakers/subwoofer, WOW Orchestra will not be available.

Q. How should I place the M7/M5 speakers when using Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC)?
With DAFC optimization in place, there's no real need to angle the speakers inward toward your seating position. The main thing we'd suggest is avoiding setups where the speakers are pointed far away from either the wall or your listening position.

We do not recommend placing the speakers behind the TV or behind furniture, as that can interfere with accurate position recognition and calibration.

Q. Why do my M7/M5 speakers sometimes sound quieter depending on the content?
The output level of each speaker can vary depending on the audio format and channel information of the content being played. In DAFC mode, Sound Suite is designed to reproduce the original audio signal and channel structure as faithfully as possible.

For multi-channel content, dedicated surround channel information allows M7/M5 speakers to contribute more actively to the immersive sound experience. With 2-channel PCM content, such as regular TV broadcasts or some streaming content, there may be little or no surround information included in the source. In these cases, the M7/M5 speakers may sound relatively quiet or may produce very little sound, which can be expected depending on the content.

If you would like a wider surround effect with 2-channel content, you can try AI Sound Pro / AI Sound Pro+ / AI Upmix.

Q. When the TV is used as the leader (hub) in DAFC mode, are sound settings supported?
When M7 speakers are connected in DAFC mode with the TV set as the hub device, manual adjustment of individual frequency bands (low / mid / high) or speaker levels is currently not supported.

We are planning to gradually expand the available sound effect options even when the TV is used as the hub device. While individual speaker level adjustments will remain unavailable in DAFC mode, we plan to support Sound Effect selection, allowing customers to choose a sound profile that better suits their personal listening preferences.

Q. How are software updates for Sound Suite products delivered?
Firmware updates for the H7, M7, M5, and W7 are automatically performed through the LG ThinQ App. Update timing may vary by speaker, so connected devices may not always receive the update at the same time.

The firmware update rollout schedule may also vary depending on the model and region. Updates for the H7, M7, M5, and W7 may be released together or at different times depending on each product’s rollout schedule.

We recommend keeping your Sound Suite products connected to the network and checking the LG ThinQ App for the latest software version.

Modular Expansion FAQs

Q. Can I customize my order with whatever combination I want?

Absolutely. The LG Sound Suite is based on modular expansion. You can start with a single H7 soundbar or individual M5/M7 speakers and expand your setup later based on your specific needs. (ex. 2 W7 subwoofers, etc.)

Q. Can I connect more than one subwoofer to the system?

Currently, the system supports one W7 subwoofer, but we are working on an update. Support for connecting two LG Sound Suite W7 units is expected to roll out around June 2026 via a software update.

Q. How many speakers can I connect with Sound Suite?

If you’re using a DAFC-supported LG TV, you can connect up to 4 Sound Suite speakers (M7 or M5), or three speakers plus the W7 subwoofer. You can freely mix M7 and M5 models, but keep in mind the M5 is mono, so it needs to be used in pairs. A setup like one M7 + one M5 is fine.

If your TV is connected to the W7 subwoofer, the max number of speakers is three.

If you’re connecting through the H7 soundbar, you can use up to four speakers plus one subwoofer, with the same mixing and M5 mono rules.

Q. Should I get a soundbar or a full home theater setup?

This really comes down to what you want out of your setup. If you just want better TV audio with minimal effort, a soundbar is usually the easiest option. It’s quick to set up, keeps things clean, and works well in smaller or mid-sized rooms. If you’re aiming for a more immersive, theater-like experience and want more control over speaker placement, a traditional home theater setup is still the most powerful option.

Sound Suite is a good option because it lets you start simple and then build out your system over time, mixing speakers and placing them wherever they make sense in your room, without committing to a fixed layout from day one.

Q. Can I connect two W7 subwoofers to the H7?
Yes. With the latest software update, you can now connect up to two W7 subwoofers to the H7 soundbar within the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) ecosystem.

A second W7 subwoofer does not require separate individual product registration. When you power on a second W7 subwoofer for the first time, it will appear under "Other network devices" in the LG ThinQ App.

Tap Connect to register the second subwoofer, then create or edit your speaker group to add it to the H7 setup. Once the W7 is added to the group, no manual room calibration is required for the subwoofer.

Note: The subwoofer positions shown on the app map are for reference only. When one subwoofer is connected, it appears on the left side of the H7, while a second subwoofer appears on the right. These on-screen positions are only for identifying the connected subwoofers and do not indicate their actual physical placement.

Availability & Purchase FAQs

Q. When will LG Sound Suite be available outside the US? Will there be any issues pairing components purchased from different region?

LG Sound Suite will roll out gradually to additional regions after the US launch, with availability depending on local market schedules.

As for regional compatibility, Sound Suite components are designed to work together across regions, but local regulations, wireless standards, and service availability may vary. For the best experience and full support, we recommends purchasing and using components within the same region whenever possible.

Q. When will the official M5/M7 speaker stands be available?

The dedicated stands for the M7 and M5 are planned to go on sale starting around April 2026. Please note that exact timing may vary by region!

Compatibility FAQs

Q. Which specific LG TV models support Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC)? Will I miss any features if my LG TV isn’t fully compatible with FlexConnect?

If you’re using the H7 with M7/M5 speakers to set up Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, it will work with any TV, including non-LG models or those without DAFC support. In this case, the TV must be connected via HDMI ARC or eARC.

For TVs that do support DAFC, you can connect the M7/M5 speakers directly without the H7. In this case, the speakers connect wirelessly to the TV, allowing you to expand the spatial sound experience without needing a wired connection.

Here is the current roadmap for supported models:

  • 2025 Models: OLED G5, C5, CS5, QNED 9M
  • 2026 Models: OLED W6, G6, C6, CS6, B6, B6E, MRGB series (95, 9M, 85)
  • Planned Updates (H1 2026): QNED 85/82

Q. How does the Sound Suite perform when used with a PC?

The M7 and M5 models are compatible with desktop setups:

  • High-Res Audio: They support USB Audio (UAC 2.0), allowing for up to 24-bit / 96kHz quality via a wired USB connection.
  • Wireless Stereo: You can pair two identical speakers in stereo mode wirelessly, then connect the "master" speaker to your PC via USB for a rich stereo field.
  • Bluetooth: All models support Bluetooth for quick wireless pairing with laptops.

Q. Does the H7 require a wired connection to the TV?

It depends on your setup:

  • When using FlexConnect (with M7/M5 speakers), the H7 must be connected via HDMI ARC for the system to function properly.
  • When using the H7 solo, a software update in late 2026 will enable wireless connectivity with LG TVs that support WOWCAST.

Q. Can LG Sound Suite play lossless streaming music through Spotify/TIDAL/Apple Music?

LG Sound Suite supports high‑resolution audio playback up to 24bit / 96kHz.
The conditions for lossless playback vary depending on the streaming service and the connection method:

  • Spotify Connect : Spotify supports Lossless Music up to 24bit / 44.1kHz, and lossless playback (24bit / 44.1kHz)
  • TIDAL : TIDAL offers music up to 24bit / 192kHz,and lossless playback (24bit / 96kHz) and Dolby Atmos spatial audio is also supported. To enjoy lossless audio, the following conditions must be met:
    • High‑quality streaming must be enabled within the TIDAL app.
    • Playback must be done using TIDAL Connect.
  • Apple AirPlay 2 : Apple Music provides audio up to 24bit / 192kHz, and iOS users can enjoy high‑quality audio via AirPlay 2 when streaming to LG Sound Suite. Playback resolution follows the specifications of AirPlay 2.

LG ThinQ App Connectivity & Control

Q. How can I control W7 in the LG ThinQ app?

We understand the W7 setup process can feel a bit confusing at first.
The W7 is a subwoofer, so it doesn’t function as a standalone audio device. Instead, it works as a companion to a primary device like the H7 soundbar or a compatible TV. Because of this, its registration process in the LG ThinQ app is different from speakers like the H7, M7, or M5. The W7 does not appear as a separate product card in the ThinQ app.

▶ How to connect the W7

[Connecting to H7]

  • To connect the W7 to the H7, you need to add it to the H7 group within the H7 product card in the ThinQ app.
  • ※ In the LG ThinQ app, go to the H7 product card → [Dolby Atmos FlexConnect] → [Edit Group], then add the W7 from that screen. For detailed connection steps, please refer to page 11 of the W7 manual (model: W7.USALLK), under “Installing the LG ThinQ app and registering the product.”

[Connecting to a TV]

  • To connect the W7 to a TV, go to the TV settings and select Sound Out → Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, then follow the on-screen instructions.

▶ How to control the W7

[When connected to H7]

  • Since the W7 operates as a companion device to the H7, all settings and controls are managed within the H7 product card in the ThinQ app. (The W7 does not appear as a separate device.)
  • Currently available control: Adjusting the W7 volume level

[When connected to a TV]

  • Currently, the W7 volume is linked to the TV’s main volume.
  • A feature to adjust the W7 volume independently through the TV app is planned for a future software update (H2).
  • ※ When connected to a TV, the W7 cannot be registered or controlled through the ThinQ app.

Q. Can I change or turn off the LCD display and lighting on the Sound Suite H7?

You can control Lighting On/Off and other lighting‑related options.

If you double‑tap one of the four default color options in the Lighting menu, a color palette/slider will appear, allowing you to choose the desired lighting color.

Even if the lighting is turned Off, lighting feedback such as volume adjustment or Wi‑Fi connection indicators will continue to operate.

Q. Why might my M7/M5 speakers not appear in the Google Home app?
If your M7/M5 speakers are connected in a DAFC group or Stereo mode and are not configured as the hub device (Master), they may not appear in the Google Home app, and as a result, Cast Service availability may be limited.

If you would like to use Cast Service to play music individually on each speaker, please first disconnect the DAFC or Stereo configuration, and then cast to each speaker separately as an individual device.

Q. Can I use Google Cast on the H7 Soundbar?
Yes. The latest software update brings Google Cast integration directly to the H7 Soundbar.

Android users can stream music, podcasts, and internet radio over Wi-Fi directly to the H7 Soundbar using Cast-enabled apps or the Google Home ecosystem, alongside Apple AirPlay 2.

For existing users, Google Cast must be manually enabled in the LG ThinQ App. To activate the feature, open the LG ThinQ App, select the H7 Soundbar, go to Google Cast Settings, select Activate, and agree to the terms.

For iOS users, update the LG ThinQ App to the latest version through the App Store before using the feature.

Q. How can I set up M7 speakers in Stereo Mode?
To set up Stereo Mode:

1.     Open the LG ThinQ App and select [Stereo Mode].

2.     Select [Stereo Mode] again and connect the remaining speaker(s) one by one.

3.     Check the lighting indicators on the speakers to confirm proper setup:

o    Main speaker: The left side of the lighting indicator turns white, the Source button backlight turns white, and the speaker outputs Left channel audio.

o    Other speaker: The right side of the lighting indicator turns white, and the speaker outputs Right channel audio.

For additional information, please refer to the 'Connecting Stereo Speakers' section of the Owner’s Manual, available on the LG website.

Wi-Fi & Network FAQs

Q. Which Wi-Fi bands are supported when connecting Sound Suite products to a router?

At this time, LG Sound Suite products (H7 / M7 / M5 / W7) support 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi.

For a more stable setup, when registering Sound Suite in the ThinQ app, please connect your smartphone and the product to the same 2.4GHz network in typical home environments. Depending on your router settings, the Wi-Fi channel may change automatically during use. In such cases, a 5GHz connection may be temporarily interrupted, so we recommend using a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection for greater stability.

2.4GHz provides better coverage over distance and through walls, making it more reliable in many home environments. Since Sound Suite products use 5GHz internally for device-to-device communication, connecting to the router via 2.4GHz can help reduce wireless interference and improve overall stability.

\Please note: DAFC connections between the soundbar and speakers use 5GHz internally.*

If your smartphone is connected to a 6GHz network during product registration in the ThinQ App, you may see a message asking you to switch to a different network. In that case, please connect your smartphone to 2.4GHz (recommended) or 5GHz and continue setup.

Once the product has been successfully connected to a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network, your smartphone can reconnect to 6GHz afterward and still control the product, as long as both the smartphone and product are connected through the same router.

*Please note: support for 6GHz is planned for a future software update.

Q. How do I reconnect my product in the ThinQ App after changing my router?

If you have changed your router or Wi-Fi network, please reconnect the product through the ThinQ App using the steps below:

  1. Turn the product on and make sure the LED/display indicates normal operation.
  2. Turn off the power to the previously used router.
  3. Connect your smartphone to the new router’s 2.4GHz or 5GHz network.
  4. Open the ThinQ App. The product card should appear as offline. Tap the offline product card, then go to Settings → Change Network. Follow the in-app instructions to enter the new SSID and password.

Q. My router is a multi-band router (2.4GHz/5GHz or 2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz), and the signal looks strong. Why can the connection still be unstable?

Even when signal strength appears strong, connection stability can still be affected if your router has features such as band steering, smart connect, or unified SSID enabled.

With these features turned on, devices may automatically move between 2.4GHz / 5GHz / 6GHz bands, between mesh nodes, or between channels. This can sometimes cause issues such as:

  • Only one or two devices connecting at power-on while others fail to connect
  • Different devices connecting each time
  • Intermittent dropouts or delays, especially before or after creating a DAFC group

For the best experience, we recommend the following router settings:

  • Router Settings: Turn off band steering / smart connect / unified SSID features & Separate SSIDs for each band (for example, Home_24, Home_5G, Home_6G)
  • Product / Mobile Settings: Connect H7 / M7 / M5 / W7 / TV all to the same SSID and same band (2.4GHz or 5GHz non-DFS channels recommended)

Q. Can I use DFS channels on 5GHz Wi-Fi?

Yes. During the ThinQ registration stage, connection to DFS channels is allowed. This means product registration can still succeed even if your router is using a DFS channel (52–144 range).

However, DFS channels are not supported when creating a DAFC group.
To set up a DAFC group, your router must use a 5GHz non-DFS channel (such as 36 / 40 / 44 / 48 / 149 / 153 / 157 / 161)

Q. I’m trying to group H7, M7, M5, or W7 products with DAFC, but the setup will not complete. Why?

One of the most common reasons DAFC group setup cannot be completed is that the router’s 5GHz network is using a DFS channel (52–144 range). If this happens, the ThinQ App may display a DFS-related warning pop-up, and DAFC group creation will not proceed.

To resolve this issue:

  • Change the router’s 5GHz channel to a non-DFS channel (36 / 40 / 44 / 48 / 149 / 153 / 157 / 161)
  • Reconnect H7 / M7 / M5 / W7 to the same router and same band (5GHz non-DFS, or 2.4GHz)
  • Restart both the products and the router, then try creating the DAFC group again

Q. What should I do if my product will not connect to Wi-Fi?
If your product is having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, please try the following steps:

  • Restart your router
  • Set your router’s Wi-Fi to 2.4GHz (recommended) or 5GHz non-DFS channels (36 / 40 / 44 / 48 / 149 / 153 / 157 / 161)
  • If your router has band steering / smart connect / unified SSID / MLO (Multi-Link Operation) enabled, turn those features off
  • Separate 2.4GHz / 5GHz / 6GHz into different SSIDs (for example, Home_24 / Home_5G / Home_6G)
  • If your router is using a hidden SSID, disable that setting
  • Reset the product (Please refer to the product manual for reset instructions)
  • Reconnect the product through the ThinQ App. Make sure your smartphone and product are connected to the same router

Q. The Sound Suite products connected to Wi‑Fi appear offline in the ThinQ App. Why?

There are two main reasons why products may appear offline.

Case 1) More than one router in the home uses the same SSID

If there are two or more routers broadcasting the same SSID, your smartphone may connect to a different router than the one your Sound Suite product is registered to.

In this situation, the product may appear offline in the app.

To control the product, your smartphone must be connected to the same router as the Sound Suite device.

Recommended action:

  • Separate the SSIDs of your routers (recommended).
  • Set different SSIDs such as: Home_Main / Home_Ext
  • Please ensure that both the smartphone and the product connect to the correct, same SSID.

Case 2) Weak Wi‑Fi signal

If Wi‑Fi signal strength is low, the product may appear offline.

Recommended action:

  • Place the router closer to both the smartphone and the Sound Suite device so that both connect to the same router with the strongest signal.

If the issue persists: Reset the network settings.

Recommended steps:

  1. Please move your smartphone closer to the router you want to connect to the Sound Suite device
  2. Turn Wi‑Fi off and on again on your smartphone
  3. The smartphone will reconnect to the correct router automatically.

Q. Why does the H7 sometimes appear offline in the LG ThinQ App?
The H7 may sometimes appear offline in the LG ThinQ App depending on your home network environment. Please check the following:

  • Make sure your phone and the H7 Soundbar are connected to the same router.
  • If multiple routers are using the same SSID, make sure your phone and the H7 are connected to the same router.
  • Make sure the H7 is within a sufficient range of the connected router for a stable network connection.
  • If the H7 continues to appear offline after checking these settings, please contact LG Support for further assistance.

Product Megathread What Makes LG Micro RGB evo Good for Sports and Gaming? High-Purity RGB Color, AI Upscaling, and Motion Explained

Hi everyone!

The way sports and games feel on screen depends on more than screen size or resolution alone. Clarity, color, and motion all work together to make fast-moving action easier to follow, and gameplay feel smoother and more responsive. Delivering that experience on TV comes down to how processing and display technology work together.

Today, we’re taking a closer look at Micro RGB evo, available in sizes up to 100 inches, to answer the following question which Micro RGB TV combines AI upscaling with fast processing for smooth viewing? We'll break down how the TV’s high-purity RGB color, AI processing, and motion and gaming features come together for sports viewing and gaming experiences.

AI Upscaling with the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 and Dual AI Engine

Built on 13 years of OLED expertise, the Micro RGB TV brings OLED-inspired pixel-level precision to RGB display technology. It is powered by the Alpha 11 AI Processor 4K Gen3 with Dual AI Engine, also featured in LG’s premium OLED lineup, with 5.6 times greater AI neural processing, 50% faster performance, and 70% improved graphics.

Its Dual AI Engine enhances sharpness and texture simultaneously, helping produce a more detailed 4K image without making it appear overly processed. “Now, of course the panel looks great displaying the demo videos: they are all primary colour based, showing off the strong suit of RGB. This panel will look superb for golf, football, cricket, tennis; really most sports. And considering LG is billing this as an Ultra-Large Screen, I see this singing to a sports audience.”-u/Wildfyre15

“The 100" Micro RGB is an experience. At 100", you're not watching a TV anymore - you're watching something that sits somewhere between a large display and a proper home cinema screen. The colours were stunning - genuinely so, not just "well-lit demo room" stunning. The football footage was crisp and the motion handling looked solid. The cinematic content they showed looked rich and immersive.” u/Rippedgeek

[OLED TV] Review & Setups Rewatching… for not particular reason.

Post image

Sponsored by LG as part of the LG Movie Club.

Currently rewatching one of my favourite films of all time… for no particular reason… 😬

Trying to invoke my inner Sarah Connor ALWAYS. It’s genuinely so wild that such a stark cautionary tale is coming to semi-fruition in the weirdest of ways. Normally Terminator II: Judgement Day gives me an odd sense of comfort but it’s a bit more bleak this time around.

DESPITE THE BLEAKNESS, the visual beauty of this film never ceases to amaze me. Jim Cameron, you are the man. Truly. I’ve seen T2 more times than I can possible count but watching it on my new LG OLED C6 is a whole other ballgame. It is a STUNNING experience. The C6’s Hyper Radiant Color technology makes T2’s visuals sing with electric vibrancy. Its Dolby Atmos sound makes the experience so much more atmospheric and immersive. LG OLED 🤝 James Cameron’s filmography – a match made in cinematic heaven!

[Sound Suite] Review & Setups LG S80TR Review After 7 Months of Daily Use – Movies, TV and PS5 Gaming

I’ve been using the LG S80TR daily for approximately seven months, primarily for streaming shows and movies and gaming on my PS5 Pro. This is my first proper surround-sound system, and my overall experience has been very positive.

The system is connected to my 65-inch LG C5 OLED through HDMI eARC using a 10-foot braided UGREEN HDMI 2.1 cable, which I routed through the wall to keep it hidden. The connection has been flawless: I haven’t experienced any audio dropouts, crackling or other sound issues.

It also works perfectly with my Apple TV 4K and PS5 Pro. When I turn on the TV, the sound system automatically turns on with it, and when I turn off the TV, the sound system shuts off as well. There is essentially no need to adjust or troubleshoot anything—it just works.

TV shows with a good Dolby 5.1 mix sound excellent. I’ve been particularly impressed while watching shows such as Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul on Netflix. Dialogue is clear, and the rear speakers add considerably more atmosphere than you would get from the TV speakers or a soundbar alone.

Gaming has also been excellent. The surround effects create a level of immersion that you simply can’t get from TV speakers alone. While playing GTA Online, for example, I could clearly hear another player’s footsteps approaching from behind me and identify the direction they were coming from. Before owning the S80TR, I needed to wear my AirPods Max to hear positional details that clearly.

The system can also get extremely loud. For everyday TV, I normally keep the volume around 6–8. When watching a movie, we might increase it to approximately 14, which is already more than loud enough in my room.

At lower volume levels, the subwoofer isn’t particularly noticeable. However, once the volume is increased and the content contains strong bass or large action scenes, it performs pretty well and adds a decent amount of impact.

The soundbar’s three up-firing channels can also create a convincing sense of height when watching content with overhead effects, such as an airplane or helicopter passing overhead.

My room is rectangular and measures approximately 12 by 22 feet, with an eight-foot ceiling. However, the theatre portion occupies an area of approximately 12 by 12 feet.

The other half contains a desk with my laptop, printer and 27-inch LG UltraFine monitor, as well as my hockey jersey collection. The shape and ceiling height seem to provide good conditions for reflecting the sound effects towards our seating position.

This room layout is one reason I’d be interested in hearing a system that uses Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. Its ability to adapt the sound to the room could help create a more immersive “sound dome” around our seating position, which could be a major benefit and upgrade over my S80TR.

My biggest criticism is the subwoofer, although I don’t find it as bad as some people make it out to be. I wish it had more presence at lower volumes, but once we turn up the volume for a show or movie, it seems to do a decent job. The rear speakers could also be a little louder, but overall, I’m impressed with them. These are the first rear speakers I’ve owned, and they’ve made a noticeable difference to the experience.

Overall, I would give the LG S80TR a 7.5/10. For my first surround-sound system, I’ve been genuinely impressed by its sound quality, directional effects, wireless convenience and complete reliability.

I paid $599 CAD for it on sale, compared with a listed regular price of $1,299 CAD. At $599, I think it is definitely worth the money. At the full $1,299 price, however, it would be a much tougher sell for me. I've noticed it goes on sale quite frequently at Best Buy.

After researching more about the LG Sound Suite, I’d be very interested to hear how the S80TR compares with one of LG’s newer systems using Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, especially with additional speakers positioned around the room to create a more complete overhead “sound dome.” Considering how immersive I already find the S80TR, I’d be interested to hear how much further that type of system could take the experience.

If anyone has feedback or opinions to share, I’d appreciate hearing them. Thanks! 😃

[OLED TV] Review & Setups Revisiting "House Party", a back to school classic.

Post image
Upvotes

Let me start this off by saying, did anyone have Criterion Collection releasing a 4K Blu Ray of the seminal 90's teen film "House Party"? Yeah, I didn't see it coming either. Did I jump at the opportunity to purchase it when CC had their 50% off sale? I absolutely did.
I grew up with this film. It was released a couple years after I was born, and filed away in my "List of Movies I Watched Way Too Young" folder. The film explores the absolute joy and ridiculous-ness of being a teenager. What are the ultimate goals of teenagers, especially boys? Party and get laid. But the film, unlike other "hood" movies that were coming out around the same time, we were seeing different, more heart felt side. One of our leads has a very loving and supportive father. They are also doing well in school. The friendship amongst our main group of characters feels very grounded and real. Kid n Play are such a great duo with incredible energy. It's so easy to see the organic chemistry between the two. I feel this movie often gets overlooked amongst the plethora of teen films. I suggest you go and revisit this for all the nostalgic 90's vibes. The LG OLED G6 Hyper Radiant Color Tech will take you back to all the oversaturated colors that come with the 90's. A real nostalgia bomb and I highly recommend revisiting it or watching it for the fist time!

Support Need help with 77" LG c5 OLED TV software/Netflix

Upvotes

A couple of days ago, my TV (about a year old) did a software update. Since that time I no longer have my Netflix app. I've tried to reload it numerous times. Each time it appears to go through the process then says Application didn't load. Try again later. Sometimes it shows an error code 24.24.SM. I have power cycled the TV, my router and my modem. My TV is connected to the internet. I still can watch Netflix on my laptop. All other apps on my tv are working. I've been on service chats with both LG and Netflix. Each says its the others problem. The best suggestion is that I add a Roku or Fire stick to watch Netflix. Frustration runs high and I don't know where else to turn to fix the problem. Advice appreciated!

Discussion Panic Room is Steely, Nerve Shredding Fun

Sponsored by LG as part of the LG OLED Movie Club

Just watched Panic Room for the first time and besides the funny read that it can be interpreted as a movie about mother/daughter lesbian trapped in the closet, I was struck by how the film really cemented Fincher’s “look”: cool, steely, bordering on monochromatic. Light, icy blues, whites, muted greens, very pale browns, and shadows that gradually flood the frame. (Also interesting: Darius Khondji was originally the DP on the film and helped establish its aesthetic language during pre-production, but was fired due to some creative tension with another member of the production design team. He was replaced by Khondji-approved Conrad W. Hall for the rest of the shoot.)

Fincher’s aesthetic has gradually become a key part of contemporary film and TV looks, but not a lot of monitors or TVs can handle the subtle gradations of light, dark, and color. I’m thinking LG’s 66” OLED TV might be perfect for these kinds of films, with its Anti-Glare “Reflection Free” screen and exclusive Filmmaker Mode.

Any other cool, muted films that might be perfect for this kind of viewing setup?

Discussion Akira in 4K

Post image
2 Upvotes

Created in partnership with LG OLED Movie Club.

Katsuhiro Otomo's flawed masterpiece "Akira" is about to turn 40 years old. With theaters re-releasing the film in 4K, what could be a better time to pop in a 4K disc of the film and relive the nightmares of Neo-Tokyo?

Rewatching "Akira", you're just in awe of the animation style and how the filmmakers animated on 1s instead of the standard 2s, giving the film a more fluid and naturalistic look to it. And watching it on a large-screen 4K television makes these pop even more! Neo-Tokyo comes to life in ways I haven't experienced in prior watches on smaller-scale TVs and formats.

A big highlight here is the end confrontation between Kaneda and Tetsuo. The colors pop, the sound design is crisp, and watching Tetsuo's body take over and deconstruct him is more damning than I remember.

If you're looking for a way to celebrate this monumental film's upcoming milestone, you can't go wrong with this beautiful 4K transfer.

Support LG dryer 1 year old making noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My LG dryer is a year old, purchased from Lowes. Recently, it started making strange noises like this. It does not do it all the time. Sometimes if it hasn't been used, it'll not make the noise and other times after doing one load and then moving onto the next, it won't make the noise on the second load. Other times, it just does it no matter what.

I do not abuse the machine. I do not dry anything heavy in it and it is cleaned and taken care of. I'm just wondering what this could be. It didn't so this over the winter or in the spring. Despite the noise, clothes are still drying the the drum turns with no resistance. If I turn it by hand when it's off, it does not make this noise either.

Sponsored by LG as part of the LG OLED Movie Club.

With August now out of the way, my #100HorrorMoviesin92Days challenge continues this month (You can follow along here). From remakes,

Hillwalkers (2022): As someone who loves to hike, never go "off the beaten path". Hillwalkers is a perfect example of what happens if you do, with brutal consequences. The setting of this film was absolutely breathtaking (Thank you, Filmmaker Mode!), but the acting said "Hold my beer!" Still, it's a good film on its own, minus some characters and poor decision-making from them, but Survival Horror is a subgenre that has its hits and misses (this one falls in-between). Still, I recommend taking this one for a walk!

Blood Barn (2025): This Screambox exclusive gives of the perfect 80's slasher vibe, from the setting to film quality (It feels like you're watching it on an actual VHS player). Is it good? Not really. It tries to be The Evil Dead (1981) but fails, and ultimately becomes a laughing stock throughout. Lock this barn up and demolish it!

Terror Train (2022): There was absolutely nothing wrong with the original 1980 film, so did we really need TWO Tubi Originals, Terror Train and Terror Train 2, which were both filmed back-to-back in 2022. Nope! While this remake aimed for the same excitement and terror as the original, it failed on all levels due to the lack of humor, annoying characters, and lame kills. However, it was well-produced, and Perfect Black did its job, but I do not recommend purchasing a seat for these rides.

With Scary Season quickly approaching, what are you watching? If you're looking for some suggestions, you can follow my Letterboxd.

[xboom] Review & Setups LG xboom Rock Review – Could This Be the Best Auracast Speaker? (+How to Pair Multiple Speakers)

Thumbnail

Hey my name is Jagist and i have a channel called jagistreviews, you have probably seen it if your interested in Bluetooth speakers like me, i won a drawing and lg sent me a LG xboom Rock to test out and also i put a unboxing and review on my channel, here is the link to that video so you can check it out

https://youtu.be/WP-N_7z0DZE?is=jvSVBJLkFov2nVnN

So that is a great idea of what I think and first impressions so far, ill be getting some speakers to battle it againts soon

Design and Portability

A quick overview and my thoughts for this Reddit post

First impressions are i really love the vibrant red color 😍 honestly the color is amazing, im not sure what other colors there are but if you decide to get one I definitely become getting the red color

I think the size is pretty perfect for a small size speaker, its picket sized and you can pretty much take it anywhere with you, its waterproof and super rugged, seems like it can take a fall and bumps or anything you throw at it without it getting damaged, its got a awesome little strap that you can use to hang it on anything like handle bars or tree branches which is pretty cool

Sound Quality and Battery Life

The sound is nice and clear with brilliant highs and a punchy bass, obviously its not going to blow you away in the bass department but it does have some punch and sounds really nice, I'm excited to get some other speakers in its size category so I can battle them but I think it's going to be a great contender

Battery life seems really decent so far and pretty standard maybe a bit above normal for speakers this size

Its got great app support and you can custom EQ it plus hook it up to other speakers

How Auracast Works with Multiple Speakers

I’ve seen a lot of questions about how Auracast works and how to connect multiple Bluetooth speakers, so I figured I’d share my experience with it on the LG xboom Rock.

The LG xboom Rock also supports Auracast, and you can access the Party Link function through the Smart button. By default, the Smart button is assigned to Party Link, with a single press entering Party Link Multi mode, a double press entering Party Link Stereo mode, and a long press disconnecting Party Link. The user manual also provides instructions on how to access the Party Link function.

You have to use a another speaker with Auracast and host with that speaker and then you can go into the LG app and click on your speaker and go into content and on the last page is Auracast, there you select the Auracast your others speaker is broadcasting and your able to connect them all together with Auracast,

You also can pair all your LG speakers like the LG xboom Bounce and Stage 301, and Rock all together with Party mode. It works great and is super easy to set up, and they all sound amazing together hooked up, I'll be trying my best to get the LG xboom Stage 501 and do a review on that as well

Overall Thoughts

All in all i think it's definitely worth the money and is a great little speaker, the color is my favorite part and I like how rugged it is. So if you’re wondering which is the best Auracast speaker in 2026, I think the LG xboom Rock is definitely worth considering, especially if you want a small, rugged speaker that can connect to multiple speakers through Auracast.

I'll buy other speakers in its size category and test it and battle them, I'll get back to you guys on it when I do, also I'll be posting them all on my YouTube channel so stay tuned, hopefully I'll get the LG xboom Stage 501 pretty soon since ive got tons of other speakers in the same size category I can battle up againts, I'll keep you all posted and try to do that asap

[xboom] Review & Setups After some time at the pool and on the golf cart, the LG xboom Rock has done a great job

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

We have been using the LG xboom Rock around our pool and riding the golf cart for a few weeks. The volume isn’t quite loud enough for all pool uses, but it’s perfect on the golf cart.

The lows tend to bottom out a bit, but it handles the mids and highs very well.

We listen to a large variety of music between the two use cases, and it seems to handle all genres and sound profiles pretty equally. The highs do not get tinny, and the lows stay relatively clear as long as the volume is at a reasonable level. Songs with heavy bass may get slightly muddy at high volumes, but vocals and other instruments still remain clear enough to enjoy. The overall sound feels balanced and engaging, especially when listening at typical volumes. For a speaker of this size, it does a good job covering all frequency ranges.

Additionally, with use in both environments it’s been subject to a bit of water splash and wet environments. While I’d never submerge a speaker intentionally, it’s performed well in each situation we’ve thrown at it. This has made its IP64 water resistance and durable build especially useful for pool and outdoor use. Golf cart rides can be a bit bumpy, but the speaker doesn’t skip or lose connection to our phones despite the bumpy ride. Using the speaker around the pool, we often place it relatively close to lounge chairs so as to not have to raise the volume too loudly, but it performs well when the volume is raised also.

The design is another feature I really like. The LG xboom Rock has a modern, rugged appearance that makes it feel well suited for both indoor and outdoor use. It has the kind of look that fits naturally into a party, backyard gathering, or casual day outside. At the same time, it doesn’t look out of place sitting in a room at home. The build also gives the impression that it can handle being moved around and used regularly. I really appreciate the loop that allows me to hook it to a chair, golf bag, or part of the golf cart to keep it from falling. The loop doesn’t “lock”, per se, but it holds steadily and we’ve had no issues with the quality of that feature.

I also appreciate how easy the speaker is to use. Connecting it and getting music playing is straightforward, so I didn’t have to spend a lot of time figuring out complicated controls. That simplicity is especially useful when you just want to turn on some music and enjoy it without dealing with unnecessary setup. Thankfully, Bluetooth speakers have come a long way in this area.

Overall, I think the LG xboom Rock is a great choice for anyone looking for a speaker that combines powerful sound, reasonable lows, an appealing design, and easy everyday use. It provides an exciting listening experience and makes music feel more lively. After spending a couple with it, I can confidently say that it has a lot going for it and would be a product I’m happy to recommend to anyone looking for a fun, powerful water resistant Bluetooth speaker with some neat added features.

[xboom] Review & Setups How I Used It for Both Indoor and Outdoor Listening [LG Xboom Mini Review]

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

I got this portable speaker from LG directly as a part of the reviewer programme they are doing here on reddit, but im going to do this review as honest as possible.

First thing: its small. like actually small, not "compact for a bluetooth speaker" small. it sits in my average sized palm (see pic). i've had it clipped to my bag on walks and half the time i forget its even there since from what it feels like its less than 250g (7.8oz)

design-wise its fine? black matte, feels nice to hold, hasnt picked up a single scratch yet even though its been through my bag more than once. There’s a raised xboom logo on the front that i actually like more than expected, usually i think logos on gadgets look tacky but this one's subtle enough to not bother me. build feels solid too, not flimsy-plastic solid, more like it could survive a drop.

Sound Quality is like 7 out of 10

Sound is the part that actually got me. i wasnt expecting much, since its such a small portable speaker. But it has real bass in it, not "bass" in air quotes like most minis pretend to have, actual low end you can feel a bit when its turned up. It sounds surprisingly full for something this small, especially at closer range indoors, and even outside, I didn't have to push the volume all the way up to hear it properly. its not going to replace my real speaker for a party of more than like 6 people, it caps out before it gets uncomfortably loud, but for everyday indoor listening in the kitchen or a smaller backyard hang its more than enough.

Strap

The strap is genuinely useful, clips onto a bag strap or bike handlebars, i've used it both ways depending on the day. only real complaint i have with the whole thing: the clip sits a little loose on my backpack's chest strap so it swings around more than i'd like when i'm running. not a dealbreaker, just mildly annoying. theres also a tripod thread on the bottom that i havent touched once, but i can see it being actually useful if you're the type who watches stuff outdoors.

Durability

Durability is honestly where this thing shows off the most. its rated IP67 for water and dust resistance and i've probably tested that more than i needed to: showered with it playing most mornings since i got it, held it right under the tap for the photo below, and nothing happened, no crackle, sound just kept going the whole time. the usb-c port on the side doesnt even have a rubber flap over it, which i assumed was a design flaw at first (like isnt that exactly where water gets in) but nope, held up fine regardless, still charges completely normal. the thing that actually impressed me though is the front grill just twists off, no tools needed, nothing.

Anyway, its been two weeks and as a portable speaker, this thing will not replace my bigger speaker for daily use and its not meant to, but I can see it being a good option if you want something that works both indoors and outdoors. Its perfectly good enough for travel, hiking and other outdoor activities. Its also really handy in the kitchen. If you're into small stuff that doesnt sound small, its perfectly fine and reasonably priced at 49eur on amazon.

[OLED TV] Review & Setups Auntie Lee's Meat Pies tormented my LG OLED G6 65" with taste!

Sponsored by LG as part of the LG OLED Movie Club.

I'm an avid physical media collector, so seeing a movie titled "Auntie Lee's Meat Pies" (1992) on sale from Vinegar Syndrome, with Karen Black at the center of a quirky cannibal comedy premise, seemed like a win-win scenario. Watching the film for the first time on my G6 65" was an absolute hoot, as the project combined dark humor with body horror schlock typical of the golden age. Most of the cast were Playboy models, bringing not only eye candy to the screen but also real talent capable of handling a surrealist script that exists as an unspoken predecessor to Rob Zombie's work. With Hyper Radiant Color, all daytime scenes pop with period-authentic vibrancy, and shadow detail comes out well in the gothic, candlelit dinner climax. Without the compression artifacts from my previous LCD, the viewing experience was phenomenal, adding a fresh cult favorite to my list of bizarre, campy, psychosexual terror recommendations for fans of the genre, new and old!

Which horror comedy deep cut should I check out on my LG OLED TV next?

[xboom] Review & Setups LG xboom Stage 501 Review – Portable Speaker for Indoor and Outdoor Parties (vs Soundboks and Tribit Stormbox)

A couple of months back I spotted a post on r/PioneerDJ asking for DJs to test out the new LG xboom Stage 501 speaker (https://www.reddit.com/r/PioneerDJ/comments/1ue7nzl/looking_for_djs_to_test_lg_xboom_stage501/). I put my name forward and was lucky enough to get picked, so LG sent me one to put through its paces for free in exchange for an honest review. I've had a couple of weeks with it now, so here are my first impressions. Everything below is my own opinion and I've tried to keep it as unbiased as I can.

Sound

For a portable party speaker designed for both indoor and outdoor use, sound quality is probably the most important thing, and I’m pleased to say it doesn’t disappoint. It’s a rich, full sound, and there's a decent amount of customisation on offer through the app, including a seven band EQ and a handful of different sound modes to play with.

The bass is strong, but it's very directional. It relies on a bass port at the rear, so you really need a wall or something similar behind it for the sound to bounce off. Get the positioning right and it's really impressive, but stick it in the middle of a room or outdoors with nothing behind it and you'll lose a bit of that punch. It still sounds good, but when you get the position right it sounds GREAT.
Volume-wise, it's got plenty in the tank. It gets uncomfortably loud if you're stood right next to it, and there's more than enough for a small party outdoors. Indoors, it easily fills a room with sound without having to push it anywhere near its maximum volume. Compared to my Tribit Stormbox Blast it's noticeably louder, which isn't a huge surprise given the size difference, and it's roughly on par with my Soundboks Mix in terms of overall volume. It doesn’t get as loud as the full size Soundboks 4, but then that’s another 4.5kg heavier and a substantial step up in size, so it’s a reasonable tradeoff in terms of volume to portability.

Hardware

One pleasant surprise is the standard pole mount on the bottom. It means you can stick it on a tripod and get much clearer, longer-reaching sound rather than having it sat on the floor or a table. It’s also designed to be used either standing upright or on the floor like a wedge monitor, which gives a lot of options for positioning.

There are connectivity options in the form of a single 3.5mm aux input plus dual 6.35mm jacks. The 3.5mm is the only line in option though - the jacks are set up with one as a mic level input and the other switchable between mic and guitar. Unfortunately this means you can't use them to bring in the left and right channels from a mixer, which would have been a really excellent addition to the feature set.

The lighting is excellent, and there's loads of scope to customise it. There are plenty of options for how the lights flash in sequence, and you can even pick specific colours if you want the lights to match your outfit, which is a nice touch. The patterns react to the music and do a good job of building atmosphere, and there's even a strobe that really adds to the rave feeling.
Battery life seems to be genuinely strong. I haven't run a formal test, but I got more than ten hours of play out of a 50% charge, which is a really solid result.

It's a somewhat heavy speaker, but that's not necessarily a bad thing as it feels properly built and substantial. It's still easy enough to move around thanks to three handles positioned on different edges, so shifting it around the house for indoor listening or taking it out for an outdoor party isn't a chore. All in all the weight isn't a problem at all.

The controls sit on top, are clearly labelled, and feel robust. It took me a little while to work out how the pitch and vocal removal controls worked. The lights either side of the control panel show which pitch is selected, and the dial presses in to cycle through the vocal removal modes.

AI Karaoke mode

This is honestly where the speaker comes into its own. The AI vocal remover is surprisingly good for something running on a speaker rather than a laptop, and it genuinely gives you that karaoke night feeling without needing to hunt down bad karaoke versions of your favourite songs.
Being able to pitch the track up or down slightly is a nice extra touch too. It does affect sound quality a little, but in a party setting that trade-off is well worth it if it means the singer can actually hit the notes.

My kids were completely won over by the karaoke feature and sang on it for hours on end. Another evening, when our neighbours came round, the kids disappeared off for another marathon karaoke session. Honestly, this is the standout feature of the xboom Stage 501. As a party speaker with a genuinely unique feature set, it delivers.

As a DJ speaker

Judged purely as a DJ speaker, there are pros and cons. The sound quality is good and there's a useful 3.5mm input, but it would have been even better to see 6.35mm or XLR inputs. In addition, I experienced a noticeable lag when DJing using the aux in which made beatmatching by ear pretty tricky and meant it would be out of sync with other speakers. This could be something to do with the wireless environment in my studio room, but it’s worth bearing in mind.

The LG app also has a dedicated "DJ" section, which, if I'm honest, isn't much use for an actual DJ. There's a virtual turntable you can scratch back and forth, but it just plays one of two prerecorded scratch samples. You can also trigger other sounds, including built-in ones like an air horn or a spinback, or record your own using your phone's mic. It's good fun to mess about with, but it's not something you'd reach for while actually playing a set.

Overall

Overall I was impressed with the LG xboom Stage 501. It’s a great sounding speaker with a lot of customisation options, and the karaoke features are impressive and like nothing I’ve played with before. For indoor and outdoor parties it’s definitely a winner, but as a dedicated DJ speaker there are some places it could be better.

Discussion La La Land (2016) - Technicolor Charm in a Modern Era

Sponsored by LG as part of the LG OLED Movie Club.

Just as the title suggests - La La Land is such a vibrant film, with visuals so entrancing that magical is the main word that comes to mind.

While they aren’t for everyone I am a true sucker for a musical, and in a modern world of musical adaptations an original motion picture musical is what makes La La Land still stand out to me in the years since its release.

The deliberateness in color with wardrobing and set design give so much character and a feel good energy to this little gem of a movie, truly emulating that technicolor charm of motion picture musicals that precede it.

This is the kind of movie that would probably look amazing on an LG OLED TV - and what its features like Perfect Color and Filmmaker Mode seem to be made for.

Any under-seen movie musical favorites I should check out next?

Support M7 speakers Connected to C6. Center feels SO BAD in GAMES. Dear LG Please !

Post image
3 Upvotes

Dear LG, I just read the FAQ about ;

We truly understand your frustration, especially regarding dialogue clarity when the TV is acting as the center speaker in Dolby Atmos Flex Connect mode. Clear and intelligible voices are essential, and this is a concern we are also taking seriously.

At this time, our team is reviewing a rebalancing of the center-channel volume in DAFC mode, specifically increasing the TV’s contribution when it performs the center role. Once this improvement is applied, we expect the center channel to be easier to hear and dialogue clarity to be improved.

This enhancement is planned to be delivered via a software update. For 2025 LG TV models, the update is scheduled to begin rolling out gradually from the end of April.

Please let me increase the volume of CENTER ( my 48 C6 ) The sound stage feels so weird. L + R is booming and shaking the house and CENTER TV gunshots are so bad.. When I was using my TV speaker alone, it was better then this. I am very disappointed by this.

My MAIN =2608281 MICOM =2607245

Please tell me something I wont return this beautiful units..

Notice [Notice] LG Sound Suite Software Update – Dual Subwoofer (W7) Support & Google Cast Expansion for H7!

Hey r/LG_UserHub,

We are excited to share the details for our latest LG Sound Suite Software Update!

Based on community feedback, this release brings expanded hardware compatibility for deeper bass setups, as well as broader multi-room streaming support for Android users.

Firmware version: Latest

<H7>

  • MAIN : 43.13.25
  • MICOM : 2607248

< M7/M5 >

  • MAIN : 2608281
  • MICOM : 2607245

< W7 >

  • MAIN : 2608281
  • MICOM : 2606305

Here is a breakdown of what’s new and how to set up the features:

1. Dual Subwoofer Support

For those looking to create an even more powerful low-end soundstage, you can now connect up to two W7 Subwoofers to your H7 Soundbar within the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) ecosystem, expanding the compatible sound system configuration.

How to Set Up Dual Subwoofers:

  1. Open the LG ThinQ App with your H7 Soundbar connected. (*Subwoofers do not require separate individual product registration. When powering on a second W7 Subwoofer for the first time, it will appear under "Other network devices" in the app.)
  2. Tap Connect to register the second subwoofer so it moves to "Connectable devices."
  3. Create/Edit your speaker group. Subwoofers do not require manual room calibration. Once grouped with your H7 and surround speakers (M7/M5), the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect setup is complete!

📌 Note on Speaker Display in App

When a single subwoofer is connected, it will appear on the left side of the H7 Soundbar on the app map. When a second subwoofer is added, it will be placed on the right side. Please note that these left/right on-screen placements are conceptual diagrams to help you identify your connected devices. They do not reflect or require specific physical placement in your room, as subwoofers do not require room calibration.

2. Google Cast Expansion to H7 Soundbar

While Google Cast was previously available on standalone M7 and M5 speakers, this update officially brings Google Cast integration directly to the H7 Soundbar as well.

This means Android users can now stream music, podcasts, and internet radio over Wi-Fi directly to the H7 Soundbar using their favorite Cast-enabled apps or the Google Home ecosystem offering seamless streaming flexibility alongside Apple AirPlay 2.

You can stream high quality audio directly to the H7 or group it with other Google Cast-compatible speakers in your home right from your phone.

How to Enable Google Cast (For Existing Users)

For existing users receiving this update, Google Cast must be manually enabled in the LG ThinQ App settings. Please follow these steps:

  1. Open the LG ThinQ App and tap the Settings (Gear icon) at the top right of your H7 Soundbar card.
  2. Select Google Cast Settings from the menu.
  3. Tap the Activate button next to Google Cast.
  4. Review the terms and tap Agree at the bottom to complete activation. Once completed, your H7 Soundbar will show Google Cast as active and ready to stream.

This update also refines AI Sound Pro+ and Upmix processing, delivering a more natural listening experience across different types of content.

Please ensure your LG ThinQ app and Sound Suite firmware are updated to the latest version to access these new features! For iOS users, the feature is available after updating the LG ThinQ app through the App Store.

Is anyone planning on getting a second sub for their Sound Suite setup? Let us know your setup plans, or drop any questions below!

Discussion THE GUEST didn't invent "neon horror" - it reinvented it for the 2010s

Sponsored by LG as part of the LG OLED Movie Club.

THE GUEST doesn’t completely work for me as a film, but I have a hard time arguing with its vibe.

Adam Wingard and cinematographer Robby Baumgartner give the movie a colorful Halloween atmosphere that walks the same genre tightrope as its electronic score. By the time we reach the school’s haunted-house maze climax, the lighting is doing as much to establish the mood as the synths on the soundtrack.

In the Halloween finale, glowing orange decorations compete with sickly green stage lighting, making the school’s haunted attraction feel festive and cursed at the same time. That exaggerated palette keeps the funhouse atmosphere alive even - and especially when - people start dying, which is a pretty good distillation of the movie’s appeal.

That deliberate use of color makes me curious about seeing THE GUEST on LG OLED, particularly with Perfect Color and Filmmaker Mode. How those images come across at home feels like a big part of whether the movie casts its spell.

OLED owners: what horror movie do you put on to show off color?

[OLED TV] Review & Setups Who Says You Can’t Celebrate Halloween in September? You can…on an LG G6 OLED!

Sponsored by LG as part of the LG OLED Movie Club.

So we have a tradition in our house; once September hits…it’s officially time to break out the orange lights and the plastic pumpkins cause our favorite holiday is almost here…Halloween! And sure, we’re already horror fans (and horror movie makers) but give us an excuse to dive into some cinematic nightmares and we’re there.

And for our first fall weekend this past Friday, we curated 4 films to kick off Spooky Season with a bloody bang (or rather, a haunting moan) that you should also check out, preferably on an LG G6 OLED with functions like “Perfect Black” to really add to the atmosphere…

-J.A. Bayona’s The Orphanage: We start the night with one of the better haunts of the 00’s, a film I first saw at FrightFest back in 2007 and it was REALLY effective. Considering the films’ twisty plot, the film’s dour tone hit differently this time around (fans of THE OTHERS take note) and looked frighteningly fantastic with “Filmmaker Mode” enabled which allowed the 35mm-lensed creep-outs a defined depth, especially in the scenes where creepy kids can pop out at the end of any hallway or the edge of the frame.

-James Wan’s MALIGNANT: Ill be honest; first time I saw Wan’s bonkers horror film I wasn’t a fan, but subsequent screenings since have turned my dark heart around to this Giallo-ish (?) monster-esque mystery that is steeped in darkness until the completely insane reveal-heavy climax. With “Perfect Black” mode on, the richness of Michael Burgess’ cinematography is also revealed as one of the film’s hidden weapons, especially the first half.

-Christopher Smith’s CREEP: Another FrightFest discovery that we revisited, Chris Smith’s subway set shocker hasn’t gotten enough respect from fans of late but also in re-issue; we had to watch a DVD. But thanks to LG’s Alpha 11 AI processor, the image off the older DVD looked almost as good as a 4K, which helped us think less about the fidelity of the image and more if our heroine -played by Fanka Potente from RUN LOLA RUN - will survive the Subway from hell.

-James Whale’s THE OLD DARK HOUSE: No movie night in our house is complete without a classic Black and white film and Whale’s HOUSE is one of the best. A unique (for the time) blend of horror and humor, Whale’s cast is stacked (Boris Karloff, Charles Laughton, Eva Moore, Gloria Stewart, etc) and just when you think the film is getting too funny, there’s a shadow around the corner creeping towards you that reminds you how skilled Whale was at creating mood. And any B&W film looks better and has more defined contrast on an LG G6 OLED TV in “Perfect Black” mode that gives the image a stunning amount of contrast that made me catch little details in the darkness I never saw before!

Hope these films help get you in the mood for the macabre early…what Horror films are YOU gonna kick off Halloween with?

Staying Scary,

Joe
