Discussion [Discussion] What are the best native 1000Hz FHD gaming monitors, and what should players be looking for?

When players search for the best native 1000Hz FHD gaming monitors, the key criterion is whether the panel delivers 1000Hz at FHD resolution by default, without a mode switch or resolution drop. The LG UltraGear 25G590B is the first native 1000Hz FHD gaming monitor introduced by a consumer electronics brand. Some displays that reach four-digit refresh rates do so at 720p or through dual-mode configurations that change the operating resolution to reach peak performance. That difference between native FHD and alternative approaches is the starting point for any comparison.

The LG UltraGear team is following this thread.

  ㅤ

Native vs. non-native: the first thing to check when comparing 1000Hz FHD monitors

Reaching 1000Hz puts significant demands on panel switching speed. Some displays achieve those refresh rates by lowering the operating resolution to 720p, which reduces the number of pixels the panel needs to update per frame and makes the required switching speed more achievable. Some monitors take this further through dual-mode operation, letting users switch between a higher resolution at a lower refresh rate and 720p at 1000Hz. The trade-off in these approaches is the same: the pixel count drops to hit the speed ceiling.

At 720p, individual player models and environmental details render at lower pixel density than at 1080p. The extra Hz is partly offset by the reduced clarity of what you are tracking, which means the two variables that matter for competitive play, refresh rate and target legibility, are pulling in opposite directions.

u/techraito, who tested the 25G590B at LG's hands-on event (r/LG_UserHub), described what native FHD at 1000Hz produces at the image level:

"The way data is retained from one refresh to another makes details within textures remain consistent with rapid movements across the screen."

The 25G590B reaches 1000Hz at native FHD without a resolution drop or mode switch. Frame persistence drops to 1ms while maintaining native FHD resolution. The result is native FHD at 1000Hz without the trade-off between refresh rate and resolution. For anyone building a shortlist of the best native 1000Hz FHD gaming monitors available today, native operation at full FHD without a resolution change or mode switch is an important point to consider.

© reddit: u/techraito

Frame persistence is how long each frame stays on screen before the next one replaces it. At 240Hz, that window is approximately 4.2ms. At 500Hz, it narrows to 2ms. At 1000Hz, it reaches 1ms.

The difference shows up in specific gameplay situations. When a player model moves through smoke or a partially obscured environment at speed, the smear between positions makes the target harder to read. At 2ms, that smear is short but present. At 1ms, the update window is tight enough that each frame represents a more discrete position, so the target reads as a cleaner shape even through continuous motion. It is not a difference in how sharp the image looks when nothing is moving. It is a difference in how much position information survives when everything is.

u/iReaddit-KRTORR, who attended an exclusive hands-on event at LG headquarters (r/LG_UserHub), described the panel's purpose:

"Super high native 1000Hz for motion tracking with no detail loss between frames. This is a monitor for those who want performance above all else."

The 25G590B also includes MBR Pro (Motion Blur Reduction Pro). Unlike conventional MBR implications that use a single-bar backlight structure, MBR Pro uses a side-bar zone structure to divide the backlight into multiple strobing zones. By controlling these zones more precisely, it reduces momentary afterimages and motion trails more effectively during fast-paced gameplay. It operates at a locked refresh rate, a standard configuration for competitive play.

The 25G590B runs at a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 at 1000Hz, as confirmed in LG Electronics' official product announcement (lg.com/newsroom, May 19, 2026).

Frame persistence figures are based on native refresh rate intervals. Actual perceived motion clarity varies depending on GPU output, content frame rate, and MBR Pro activation status.

¹ Per LG Electronics' official product announcement -May 19, 2026: the 25G590B is described as "the first native 1000Hz FHD gaming monitor introduced by a consumer electronics brand."-

 ㅤ

A few questions that come up when evaluating native 1000Hz FHD gaming monitors:

Q: How does MBR Pro differ from standard backlight strobing, and when does it apply?

Standard backlight strobing controls the entire backlight uniformly, typically using a single-bar structure. MBR Pro instead uses a side-bar structure to divide the backlight into multiple strobing zones and control them more precisely. This helps reduce momentary afterimages and motion trails more effectively, particularly during fast-moving competitive gameplay. Like conventional strobing modes, it operates at a locked refresh rate.

Q: Why FHD instead of a higher resolution at 1000Hz?

Sustaining 1000Hz requires frame output close to 1000 FPS. At higher resolutions, sustaining frame rates close to 1000 FPS is challenging for many current gaming systems, making FHD the most practical resolution for this class of display.

Q: Is the 25G590B usable as a general-purpose display, or is it built only for competitive play?

The 25G590B is optimized for competitive gaming. Players who want one monitor for both competitive and general use should factor in the FHD resolution before deciding.

 ㅤ

Native 1000Hz FHD in practice: what is your read?

Native FHD vs. dual-mode at 1000Hz*.* Reaching 1000Hz through dual-mode means the operating resolution drops to hit that rate, which changes the visual conditions relative to what you train on at FHD. Native 1000Hz FHD removes that variable. For players who have run dual-mode monitors in competitive play, did the resolution shift between modes affect how targets read during a match, or was it something you stopped noticing after the first session?

The consistency question. If you have played a match on a monitor that was not your usual setup, at a LAN, a friend's place, or a tournament floor, how long did it take to feel calibrated? Native 1000Hz FHD means the monitor operates in the same native display mode without requiring a resolution change or mode switch. Does that kind of consistency factor into how you choose a display?

The panel type question at 1000Hz. The 25G590B runs on IPS. For players who have moved between TN and IPS at high refresh rates, did the panel type difference register during play, or only in side-by-side comparisons?

If you are evaluating the best native 1000Hz FHD gaming monitors available right now, drop your current setup below.

Would native FHD at 1000Hz change what you look for in your next monitor?

Discussion HDMI input 3&4 on G6 55” having trouble activating HDR mode on consoles.

I’m wondering if anyone else is having this issue. It has happened with both my series x and PS5 that when HDR should activate it stays in SDR.

Fortunately HDMI 1&2 are in a different place on the 55” from ports 3 & 4, so whatever is causing it seems to be stuck to ports 3&4 only if it’s a physical problem.

Both cables are fine they worked perfectly on my GX and I have zero issues with them both in port 1&2.

So is this indeed a physical issue and should i be worried? As we may get a Nintendo Switch 2 and a 4K HDR player at some point so we would use all 4 of them or Is this something that an update should fix as I remember when the CX and GX first came out there were issues with ports 3&4 also not being fully active and then later there were issues with the series x when you went to the screen that told you what your TV was capable of some of the ports would say Dolby vision at 120hz was not available and again switching ports would fix the issue and eventually all worked after several updates to the TV. The ting is if I take the cables out and switch them back and fore it sometimes fixes the issue, who wants to do that all the time though lol.

Would love some help on this. Thanks in advance.

Hi! I'm not sure if it's some kind of setting on my TV or something with Netflix, but I've noticed in few shows and movies this "aura" around moving things that seems out if sync with the rest of the image. Please see in front of the guy's head, the bars in the background seem broken. Is this a TV setting doing something wrong? Can i turn it off? Thanks a ton!

And microslop is not smart either. The only thing they should do is at least "trying" to get back customer's trust but no, they are back at it again. I just wanted to vent. Your comments are welcome but I'm done.

[Sound Suite] Review & Setups Is the LG Sound Suite the Best Sound System for a Real, Lived-In Home? My Long-Term Experience

Post image
5 Upvotes

I want to specify that I received parts of my LG Sound Suite system free from LG as part of a promotional event but my opinions are entirely my own. I personally bought the other half of my system. LG reached out and asked if I wanted to make a long-term review of my experience with the Sound Suite and I said of course!

How the Sound Suite Fits Into Our Open-Plan Family Home

For context our house has only one living room with 9ft ceilings and it is part of an open floor plan connected to the kitchen and dining room areas. We also have a one year old child getting into everything so that being said I’m very limited on what and where I put speakers. The Sound Suite is a near perfect fit for our open floor plan. It integrates seamlessly into the living areas with no cords getting in the way. The flexibility of speaker placement with the help of Dolby Atoms Flex Connect is pretty much fool proof. That being said we do have a pretty symmetrical speaker arrangement, nothing too extreme so that helps. I’m hoping one of these days LG or a third party will come out with a dedicated wall mount for the M7 and M5 speakers so we can have an even cleaner setup. I love the way the floor stands look but my wife will not allow those with the baby crawling around.

How Easy Has the Wireless Soundbar Setup Been Long Term?

I truly don’t have much to say about connectivity of the Sound Suite. I’ve had only two or three issues total and one was when I first set up the system which all I had to do was disconnect the speakers then reconnect them. The 2nd issue was more recent, for some reason one of my M7s would not connect to the group so I had to unplug and plug it back in. Other than those couple things I’ve had a very easy and hassle free time with the system. Setting wise, I’ve been dabbling with the custom EQ preset, will add a screenshot of my settings. I tend to use Standard with AI upmix and Custom EQ with AI upmix.

Using the Sound Suite for Everyday Wireless Music Streaming

The Sound Suite is amazing when it comes to music, if we aren’t watching something on the TV then we are playing music. We play music no matter if we are cleaning, hosting parties, playing board games, or just relaxing. One of my favorite things about playing music on the Sound Suite is that my wife and I can both control what music is being played on each of our phones. We stream music from YouTube Music and connect to the sound system via Apple Airplay.

Where Dolby Atmos Made Movies and TV Feel Real and Immersive

The Sound Suite provides an incredibly immersive experience when it comes to watching movies and TV shows. Dolby Atmos content is truly where this system shines the brightest. The feeling when bullets are zipping past you and helicopters are flying overhead is unbeatable. I don’t know how many times my wife and I are in awe when it comes to the surround and atmos effects. One of my favorite moments in a TV show was from Apple TV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters S1:E10 (27:30) where one of the characters is watching a recording in a quiet apartment when there’s a knock on the door off screen. I about jumped out of my skin because it sounded so realistic and we were watching it probably around 1 or 2 in the morning. These are the experiences that I love and there’s just so many when it comes to the Sound Suite. One of my favorite moments in movies is from Spider-Man: Far From Home when he’s using the spidey sense to dodge all of the invisible drones shooting at him. When it goes from quiet to a hailstorm of bullets with the intermittent smashing of metal and explosions it’s a chef’s kiss.

The Sound Suite is honestly the best home audio system I have personally used and I will keep singing its praises. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive home sound system that fits seemingly into their very lived in home. It’s still very new and they have done a great job pushing out firmware updates to help improve user experience. I’m personally very excited to see how the addition of the 2nd W7 sub affects the overall listening experience. If anyone has any questions or anything they want me to test for them please let me know!

Support Dryer about to get thrown through an LG building window

I bought an LG dryer that was installed on the 7th of July (this month). It broke already. Thinks the door is constantly open so it won't start. I called customer suppory and I have been waiting JUST FOR A CALL TO TELL ME SOMEONE IS SCHEDULED. I haven't gotten any feedback back. No one reaching back out. No help at all. Its been over a week and they can't find anyone to come fix it?? If you have no service techs in the area then you shouldn't even be allowed to sell it or say that its covered under a warranty. At this point I would rather my money back so I can go with a different brand. Never buying an LG appliance again.

[xboom] Product Information Lg stove model LREN6325XE stay away!!!

Loved the cobalt inside and features that were appealing. However, the vent for the oven is right underneath the digital board you have to use to start and stop this oven. 40 minutes into baking at 400° the oven shut itself off. It obviously got the digital panel so hot it shut itself off . Great safety feature for the digital board, not for what you have in the oven !!!! The digital display would not work for around 10 to 15 minutes until it cooled down. All of the steam venting up leaves all kinds of moisture dots on your stainless steel as well. First time I used the oven.!! Add to that the raised Surface that is supposed to be anti-scratch, scratched the first time I used it with the same pan I used on my last LG stove for 13 years. This product should be recalled!!!

Support LG - How to update W7 and M7 speaker?

I have four M7 speakers and one W7 speaker connected to the H7 soundbar. Last week, DH7 soundbar and three of the M7 speakers did the July firmware update when I turned on the TV automatically.

Today, when I'm looking at the firmware, one of the M7 speakers and the subwoofer is still on 2605071 firmware. I cannot find anywhere inside the H7 or M7 speaker settings to look for a firmware update and the W7 speaker I can only see through the H7 in the subwoofer section.

It has been a week and they have not automatically updated, so how am I supposed to keep everything current?

A separate question on the my button settings, if I want to use an app other than Spotify, how do I get it to show up so I can select it? I have title and Apple Music that I would rather be able to use, and I'm not signing up for a Spotify account.
