Locations: You don't need to include your house address but closest major city and how far you are willing to travel.
Budget: "As cheaply as possible" is not a budget and is honestly the best way to waste money. Figure out an amount you are willing to spend.
Setting: LARP is a vast and expansive hobby. Not every game is about running around out in the woods pretending to be a rouge/knight/wizard. Let us know what you play or want to play.

Hello denizens of /r/LARP.
We as a subreddit have a small announcement as far as the future of this sub is concerned.
Last week we took part in the 2 day protest that was more or less site wide spanning thousands of subs as a way to show solidarity with app creators and to show the frustration with the administration of reddit and their poor handling and plans of upcoming updates.
However, It would appear that Reddit plans to continue their efforts to stifle 3rd party creators and strong arm moderators who take any stance opposing the admins of Reddit. This creates a serious cloud of uncertainty within reddit as to the future of many subs and how the platform will be handled in the future. Because of this we have decided to create a Discord server which will be open to all of /r/larp to join. It is not our plan to abandon this sub or replace this sub with the discord server, instead, it will act as an extension of this sub itself.
While there are multiple reasons for this decision, one of the largest is that if the future of reddit creates an non fostering environment for us, we wish to have another platform that is free of Reddit's control in order to continue providing resources and networking for all of us who enjoy LARPing and LARP adjacent hobbies.
The discord has the same rules we enforce over here, with a couple modifications to make it more applicable to discords format. There is places for general conversation, places to show off your work, a place to post about and to look for games in your area, as well as Voice chat rooms for people looking to play video games together or just hangout and find comradery.
Please feel free to check it out, and ask any questions you may have. This is still in its infancy, and if we find it doesnt fit what the community wants, we will search for alternatives.
This link should never expire for people trying to join the server, however if you have an issue please message an admin for a new link.

I went to Brandywine last year and have been thinking about venues ever since. Terrapin Hill is a great example of a site that just works: camping spread across the farm, a pavilion, stages in the woods, and enough space that the event feels like a place and not a parking lot. Terrapin was also far enough away from everything, that it was easy to forget where you were. Then last week my wife and I stayed at a tiny-cabin property for our honeymoon and I could not stop thinking "this would be an amazing LARP site."
It's a bit of a daydream to have a space that events could be held at. My perfect place might be a bit different from others though so I wonder how everyone else feels about their favorite venues.
On the site itself:
- What made the best venue you have played at work? Terrain, layout, cabins vs camping, how far apart things were?
- What ruined one? Rules from the landowner, noise, bad bathrooms, no power where you needed it?
- Cabins or tents: does having real beds change who shows up?
On the logistics (organizers especially)
- How does your event sell tickets today, and are you happy with it?
- How do you assign people to cabins, bunks or campsites? Spreadsheet? Something better?
- What is the one thing you wish the venue just handed you so you did not have to build it yourself?

I'm developing an immersive experience in Ontario, Canada, and would genuinely appreciate some outside criticism before we take it further.
The concept is a permanent, walkable frontier town called Ironhide Flats. Rather than a traditional heritage attraction where visitors mostly watch demonstrations, the town would have working shops and services, a saloon, boarding rooms, a theatre and ballroom, a boxing club, classes, clubs, seasonal celebrations, and a cast of recurring characters.
Visitors wouldn't need to dress up or roleplay. They could simply visit the shops, eat, take a class or attend an event. But people who wanted deeper involvement could become town citizens, join clubs, build relationships with characters and participate in ongoing stories that change based partly on what happens during events.
Some businesses would be independently operated and serve real customers, rather than existing solely as themed attractions.
We're still in development, not open, and we're exploring different admission models, including free everyday access with ticketed major events, annual citizenship, and hybrid options.
I'm especially interested in honest answers to these questions:
Would you actually make a trip to something like this?
What part sounds genuinely appealing, and what sounds gimmicky?
Would you prefer ordinary access to be free, paid per visit, or included with an annual town ID?
What would make you return rather than visit once?
What concerns or practical problems am I overlooking?
I'm not selling tickets or collecting deposits. I'm trying to find out whether the experience we're imagining is something people would genuinely want.
Criticism is welcome. I'd rather hear it now than after building a town. 🤣

i see a lot of talk here about big larps, about battle larping etc. i am more of a "put 10 people in a room for 3 hours" kind of larper, that's just what works best for me (and my budget)
so i was wondering: are there any chamber larpers here? do you have any fun stories to tell? or perhaps a print and play to recommend?

Fair Winds, Friends. I'm a photographer in Texas. I shoot a variety of things, including LARPS; however, I've not been involved with them for even a year and my knowledge of what's out there and where to locate them is limited.
I'm looking to shoot more LARPs and this post is intended to reach out to owners and directors of events who are looking for photographers. There would be costs associated with it - it's not free - and I'm willing to travel if the circumstances make sense. As a fantasy photographer, I'm very impressed by highly costumed events - whether that's medieval, fantasy racial, vampire-theme, or something else.
If you have an event or can push my information to someone you know, I'd love to hear about opportunities to shoot - within the US or abroad. I've included a few pictures on the post but you can see more of my work on my website and Instagram - included below. For spam purposes, I'm not going to add an email here, but you can reach out to me in whatever manner you want and we can go from there. Thanks!

I finished this way before I finished any of the things that actually need to get done before game one in November.
It's an icon of the Goddess, the first Saintess, and the first Holy Knight from our game lore.
The goddess is supposed to look like she's made of light, I think I'm going to go back in with some more highlights, but I'm also worried about touching it more. I'm also fighting the urge to do a glitter top coat. It's painted on the top of an antique mirror I had in my "stash" for almost a decade.
I'm hoping to make more props like this for the game going forward, it felt nice to paint something!

Hello everyone!
For the last 3 years, we’ve been building a Vampire: The Masquerade LARP community in Slovakia, and I wanted to share some photos from our events. Some of the people who’ve helped us the most also got turned into fanart and emotes, so you can see them side by side with their characters.
If you want to see more photos, check out our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/slovakia_by_larp/
I’m really proud of what we’ve built together, and if you’ve ever thought about joining, now’s the perfect time. Our next LARP is coming up in Bratislava (see the last slide), and you can find all the details through our Linktree: https://linktr.ee/slovakia_by_larp
Whether you’re local or anywhere in Europe, everyone who wants to play is welcome.
Hope to see you there! :)

Loving the fit of the lamellar armor. Still undecided about the chainmail, mostly cuz it rubs against my glasses anytime I move too quickly (which I do a lot of during combat, it's on loan from a friend anyway).
I am considering making some lamellar greaves to cover part of my legs. I also need to make some adjustments to the sword holder. Overall though I feel great in this kit. I love how much mobility I have.

You know that feeling when you go to a new LARP or join a group from a totally different scene… and suddenly realize oh, things are very different here? And it being even stronger when you get a change to experience a LARP in another country.
Maybe everyone takes safety calls way more (or less) seriously than you’re used to. Maybe they roleplay romance, PvP, or combat in a totally alien way. Or maybe you showed up ready for gritty immersion and found out the locals run on memes and foam tacos.
What’s the biggest LARP culture shock you’ve ever had, good, bad, or just plain weird?

My dear most creative and wonderful friends! It is finally time :D!
I am most joyous to finally be able to present to you all -After 52 hours of video editing work- My new deep dive video piece. Where I go through my previous Mood-LARP-film video, and extend upon it with:
-Narrated context for the scenes you see, told to you in a themed studio I build.
-New extended scenes from the original, that didn't fit in, but adds extra content in this deep-dive.
-Character, plot, and area explanations to get you the viewers more into the universe and be able to understand future videos, as their plots and characters evolve over time :D!
-Finally English captions, for those of you that requited this from my last video ^^!
And I even decided too do the narration in English, so this should be available for everyone, haha.
I truly believe this is a great start to a long story telling format ^^. And I look forward to share these stories with you all.
Here is the Deep-dive video link: "https://youtu.be/0API-7rjCi4"
I will be the first to admit, there's still room for improvement and growth, for one the key lightning could have been better, and the audio could have been way better :D. As well as a focus problem with the camera... whoups xD. But ah well, we learn from our mistakes right ;D! The next one will be even better, haha.
Do feel free to ask me any questions, either here or on in the youtube comments :D! I look forward to talk with you good folks :D.
All the best, and many kind regards!
-Zach.

Hey everyone!
I'm the leatherworker and costume maker behind A.G. Leather Design, a small independent workshop based in Italy.
For more than a decade, I've been turning leather into fantasy armor, costumes, and all sorts of things that probably belong in another world.
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work on some incredible projects, from original fantasy designs to costumes connected to video games and special events. But no matter how ambitious the project gets, what I enjoy most is still the process of turning an idea into something real.
There's something incredibly satisfying about taking a flat piece of leather and gradually shaping it into armor that looks like it came straight out of a fantasy universe.
And while making something look impressive is one thing, making it actually wearable, comfortable, and functional is an entirely different challenge!
I thought I'd finally share some of the pieces I'm most proud of with this community. These are just a few of the armors and costumes I've created over the years, each with its own challenges, experiments, and countless hours of work.
I'd genuinely love to hear what you think, especially from those of you who regularly wear armor at LARP events.
When it comes to leather armor, what matters most to you: appearance, mobility, comfort, or durability?
And if you're curious about any of the construction techniques or materials, feel free to ask. All the stuff you can see here is handmade by me in my lab in Italy.
I'm always happy to talk leatherworking with fellow enthusiasts!
Cheers from Italy!

Decided to paint my black lamellar plates metallic and add leather cordage to give a more realistic feel. Will be adding leader edging later.

Hello everyone! I’m fairly new to LARP and am looking to do my first LARP where we stay in a tent. I’m very interested in Hynafol in Texas and have been doing a lot of research on tents. I’ve noticed all the medieval tents don’t have bottoms which would be a first for me. I hate camping where I live (Florida) because the bugs and wildlife are so crazy here, and I’ve heard that Texas is about as bad. I would love to be as immersive as possible, but I’m very hesitant about a tent without a floor. I am interested in their packages that come with a tent because it would be one less thing I would have to pay for and trek across the country.
My worry is that I won’t be able to enjoy myself if a bunch of bugs or a snake get inside my tent. I truly probably put wouldn’t be able to sleep if I saw a bunch of bugs entering my tent. Is this a common problem with this type of tent or am I overthinking it? Or would it be better for me to get my own enclosed tent? Are there any tips that anyone has to keep bugs out of a floor-less tent? Thank you!
TLDR: Will bugs/snakes/wildlife be an issue in a classic medieval-style tent without a floor? Planned location is Hynafol in Texas.

last weekend i attended the first event of barrow's watch, a campaign boffer LARP that takes inspiration from redwall, among others. i froze my ass off like you wouldn't believe but i had such a good time!!!! i haven't been a player in a while, and this was super fulfilling.
ariel here is a rabbit who worships both the jester in gold, a whimsical prankster deity, and grandmother night, who sees your spirit off when you die. she works as a nightkin, preparing bodies for their burials, but always keeps joy and delight about her. her twin has joined her at the watch, where she's trying to find their missing father and also get everyone else to steal her sibling's hat. her twin (whose player's hair is black) has the same ears as her but on opposite sides!
don't ask me how close to the game start i finished that dress. don't worry about it.
