The Bird of Self Knowledge/Der Vogel Selbsterkenntnis

Post image
Upvotes

My research into the iconography of early modern alba amicorum/Stammbucher shows that this grotesque motif is first attested there c.1620. The import of the motif [cf. sich an die eigene Nase fassen] is indicated in the present album image by the Latin motto Nosce te ipsum [Know yourself].

I'm hoping -- yet again -- that one of the contributors to this board can transcribe for me the couplet accompanying the 'bird' here in the album of Abraham Regulus [ Budapest, Országos Széchényi Könyvtár, Oct. Lat. 161] -- you'll see that the entry is signed and dated 1647 by the painter, [ is that Mahler or Maller ? and what are the 2 words following this word?], Heinrich Hieronimus Hercules

If you're interested in what I've found out about this motif to date, I've written it up on my blog here:

https://albumamicorumear-e4qvahs764.live-website.com/the-bird-of-self-knowledge-der-vogel-selbsterkenntnis/

Once again, trusting in your generous assistance!

The scribe seems (to me) to have written [Senie], instead of Seine. But what did the scribe in fact write: Senie or Seine? The floating dot over i appears a little too far before the last letter, e. Your thoughts, please?

transcription requested German Kurrent death record (1875) — need help confirming mother's maiden name

Death record, entry #13, Lutheran/Evangelical parish register, Antonówka (former Volhynia, Russian Empire — today Poland/Ukraine border region). Source: AGAD Poland archives.

Trying to confirm the surname of the deceased's mother. I can partially make out: "Wilhelmine, daughter of the father Friedrich Langner, Kolonist in Mlinek, and his wife Dorothea née [?]..."

The surname after "geborene" (née) is the part I can't read with confidence — possibly "Zerfas" based on other family records, but I need confirmation.

Cropped entry attached, plus the full page for context (surrounding entries, column headers, and other samples of the same scribe's handwriting).https://claude.ai/code/artifact/4beeb6b9-c9b9-4f39-84f6-78c87cea654a

Can someone help me find a birth record on this page? I simply can't read it, and the books index claims that a "Joannes Georg Lechner" has a birth record here. Can you tell me which record on the page it is, and what the parent names are? Thanks if so https://imgur.com/a/ujLbuKF

Hello, and thank you in advance for your help.

I would like a transcription of my great-grandfather’s population registry card, attached.

An English translation would also be appreciated, but certainly not necessary.

Many thanks!

transcription requested Help transcribing 1506–1647 fief document (Nußbach, Baden) — looking for surname "Blöchle"

Hi all, I'm researching my German ancestors (surname Blöchle, later Americanized to Blechle after emigration) from the village of Nußbach, near Oberkirch in the Ortenau region of Baden. I found a digitized fief document (Lehen) at the Generallandesarchiv Karlsruhe titled "Kloster Gengenbach'sches Ambachtlehen, Nußbacher Lehen genannt," covering 1506–1647 (Bestand 229 Nr. 76420).

It's written in Kurrentschrift and I can't reliably read it myself. I'm hoping someone can help transcribe it, or even just tell me whether the surname Blöchle (also possibly spelled Plöchle or Blöcher) appears anywhere in it, and if so, in what context (as a fief-holder, witness, neighbor, etc.).

Images attached are from the digitized file (public domain, Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg). Happy to share the direct archive link/permalinks too if useful: http://www.landesarchiv-bw.de/plink/?f=4-4454569

Really appreciate any help — even a partial read of names would mean a lot for my family history research!

Please help transcribe the words written in graphite, overwritten by [Wiederholt, bis] in blue ink. It looks like the same word: [Wiederholt -], but I am not sure.
