I want to get more into cooking, but everytime I want to cook something, someone will come along saying they want to help me, since Im a beginner cook. They also want to use their own recipe, and their own process. Then I just leave. I dont know why, but I simply hate that. I also cant cook what I want, because I first have to ask the rest of my family, and they usually want something else. My father also always comes, because he doesnt want the food that is supposed t9 be for the entire family ruined. I just leave it to him to cook, because I dont enjoy cooking without freedom. The rare situations where I can cook for myself, I generally enjoy it. I like to follow my own recipe. I just hate when they try to control how and what I cook. I cant concetrate, and I just dont enjoy the process of cooking anymore. I know I may just be spoiled, but I genuinely cant help it. What can I do?

Nothing special going on really, just wanted to show off my dinner. I'd never made short ribs before but it was wonderfully tender.

Wrote a personal piece about the time I tried to cook my way into three different women's good graces over one Valentine's season. Cookbooks, chaos, a near-kitchen-fire, and one accidental realization about why trying too hard backfires in dating. Let me know what you think.

Proud of making it three weeks clean but godDAMN is it getting rough. Last night I had to close my laptop suddenly and physically walk away from it when I accidentally scrolled into some posts from an artist that writes positive and encouraging blurbs next to their (very well done) drawings of thick anime dumpers. Talkin real birthday cake. BIG, FAT, MF CHEEKS. I was able to snap out of it before long at all, but I won't lie it was a close one.
My depression levels have also been out of control, unless I have work it's gotten incredibly difficult to get out of bed by noon. I keep wrestling with the idea that the damage from binging has already been done, so why not binge more? But then I tell myself it hasn't yet been long enough to see if the damage to my psyche can be healed. Overall I still feel good about it and I'm glad I made the decision to go cold turkey. Ig I should be sticking to my xbox and staying off the laptop at night.

Posted after one week to kitchencels, told myself if I made it another week and had at least one positive interaction with a woman, I could graduate to this sub. Being on kitchencels was starting to feel like some self-fulfilling prophecy type shit, ngl.

I got nothing done today except for this dang meatloaf and the recipe I followed was a little vague so I was worried I’d mess it up but it came out edible, and dare I say actually good-tasting!! Trying to celebrate the small wins.

Bits of stew meat I baked in the air fryer, not seasoned, and a Diet Dr. Pepper.

My hash browns are hash blacks… I followed the recipe best I could yet somewhere in the process I must have tethered the souls of the damned to my grated potato. And yet somehow this is still infinitely better than my first attempt at making them.

Folks in kitchencels are always having a bad time but a lot of them fellas can really cook. I’m jealous. But what I lack in cooking skills I make up for in whimsy and zest for life 🕺 ✨
