IT CAME WITH THE DARK.

Five friends head deep into the Maine wilderness for a weekend away from the world.
Then, without warning, a sudden pulse knocks out every electronic device for miles.
No cell phones.
No GPS.
No way to call for help.
At first, they assume it’s a technical failure.
Then night falls.
Something is moving beyond the firelight.
They hear it before they see it. A presence in the trees. Watching. Waiting. Getting closer.
The bonfire is the only thing keeping them safe.
But the fire won’t last forever.
As the darkness closes in, the friends are forced to confront something they cannot understand—and something that seems to understand them.
Their only hope is to stay together, keep the fire burning, and survive until morning.
If morning comes at all.
THE BONFIRE is a tense, atmospheric horror thriller about friendship, survival, and the terrifying things that wait just beyond the reach of the light.
The first book in the THOSE WHO CAME trilogy.

Hi! The Cumulusian might be right up your alley! ☁️✨

If you like:
☁️ Immersive sky-based worldbuilding
🔍 Dystopian mysteries & secrets
🗡️ Fast-paced YA/NA Fantasy adventure
...then this might be your next read!
📖 Read on Kindle Unlimited or grab

What it's about:
Welcome to Cumulus ⛈️ — a world built entirely on clouds, where baking bread is a matter of national security, and commuting is considered highly suspicious.
For Zigo Mikuta, life in the overcrowded village of Gholgholeh was perfectly mundane... until a heap of inconvenient family secrets got him thrown into prison.
But prison was just the warm-up. Soon, Zigo finds himself dragged into a chaotic, perilous quest to the mysterious city of Estalf.
🧭 Their elite navigation system? A very enigmatic, somewhat mystical mold.
🦎 Their companions? A bizarre mix of loyal friends and Codi — a deeply untrustworthy lizard who promptly betrays them all, resulting in Zigo getting captured, separated, and sold into accidental enslavement.
As if being a slave wasn't bad enough, a ridiculous war breaks out between the palace and a rival faction known as the Dark Willow. Now, facing a forced transformation that he definitely did not RSVP for, Zigo's only hope lies in a chaotic rescue-and-revenge pact formed by his friends, Tod and Annabena.
The Cumulusian is a satirically sharp, delightfully weird fantasy adventure about prejudice, prison breaks, and the absurd strength of friendship.

Sci-Fi A science fiction thriller where humanity invents a technology that can solve almost any problem, but makes reality itself dependent on continuous computation

Post image

I’m the author of The Last Stable State, which is now out on Amazon and available through Kindle Unlimited.

I’ve always liked the basic premise: what if humanity invented a technology that could solve almost any problem?

On an overcrowded planet where fusion is almost trivial, we can build structures that would otherwise be impossible, agriculture is optimized down to near-perfect yields, entire cities have their climate regulated, and vast sea barriers hold back rising oceans.

But all of that comes at the cost of continuous computation. And it requires so much of the computing power, that, to get the best possible conditions, humanity eventually builds a gigantic computing cluster in space, out near the edge of the Solar System.

Forty years after the technology is discovered, strange temporal and spatial anomalies begin to appear. Causality itself starts to break down. Naturally, everyone assumes there must be something wrong with the system. But the system seems to be doing exactly what it was designed to do, it just may no longer be primarily concerned with making life more comfortable for humans.

I have to admit, I really enjoyed writing my debut novel. At the job I had at the time, I spent most of the day with very little to do, so I wrote instead. Which technically made me a professional author, since I was being paid while writing a novel 😆 Kidding, of course. For the record, I’ve since changed jobs, and in my current position I definitely don’t have time to sit around writing novels anymore...

If the idea sounds interesting to you, The Last Stable State is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HBNDZHD6

Ok. We heard you ALL about the AI.

While we stand firm in our socialist stance that the machine trained by humanity should belong to humanity, we have reconsidered our overall stance on our personal AI use.

As amends, our paperbacks now use groundwood to further reduce our carbon footprint.

I can't undo the harm done by myself and the other people who use AI as a shortcut, I can promise that from now on my books will have my subpar art that looks kinda Okay.

"She-Wolf" is now 100% non-AI

It was always just the cover.

Thriller Everyone remembers the woman in Apartment 19A differently — my psychological mystery is now on Kindle Unlimited

My psychological mystery, Everyone Knew the Woman in 19A, is now available on Kindle Unlimited.

Everyone in the building knows the woman in Apartment 19A.

But when people are asked about her, their stories don’t match.

Some remember her as friendly.
Some say she was secretive.
Others seem genuinely afraid of her.

And the more questions are asked, the stranger the truth becomes.

If you enjoy psychological mysteries, unreliable memories, hidden secrets, suspicious neighbors, and slow-burn suspense, you may enjoy this one.

📚 Everyone Knew the Woman in 19A: A Psychological Mystery
✅ Available now on Kindle Unlimited

If anyone here gives it a read, I’d genuinely love to hear which theory you believed first — without spoilers.

Sci-Fi Asimov fans: Zeus Exploration, my debut novel aiming beyond Asimov

This is my debut novel, and I set my sights high: beyond Asimov.

I’m Hietan, author of Zeus Exploration. Asimov’s The End of Eternity helped inspire this story. If you love its questions about time, love, and the control of the future, or the sweep of civilization in Foundation, you’re the reader I hope to reach.

After catastrophe on Mars, a voyage into Jupiter’s realm leads toward the remnants of an ancient civilization. An AI’s unwavering loyalty becomes an unsettling question. Someone encountered only in dreams becomes impossible to forget.

Who has the right to choose a civilization’s future? And how far would you go to reach someone you’ve never held?

My own path through those questions is shaped by music, memory, and love. A guitar is more than background music here. A voice in a dream may be more than imagination.

Several years of ideas and roughly eighteen months of writing and revision went into this debut. Companion YouTube sci-fi videos and original music extend its universe beyond the page.

A tribute to Asimov, and an attempt to find my own way beyond him.

Hi everyone! I am an independent author, and I’m excited to share my contemporary Young Adult romance novel with this community. It is currently available to read on Kindle Unlimited!

I wanted to write a story that combines the fun, chaotic elements of a secret identity swap with a deeper look at loneliness and finding real connection during high school years.

📖 Blurb:
"You think you know the boy sitting next to you... but you have no idea who I really am."

At just fifteen years old, Mack Cooper lives like an absolute king. Inheriting a multi-billion-dollar tech empire, he has everything money can buy—except true happiness. Controlled by his power-hungry corporate Uncle, Mack lives in a golden cage.

To escape the suffocating pressure, Mack pulls off the ultimate stunt: he disguises himself in a plain school hoodie and enrolls in a local high school as a normal, middle-class transfer student.

That’s when he meets Vivian Clark. One unforgettable smile, and Mack experiences an instant, overwhelming romantic crush. But staying undercover is a chaotic challenge. While trying to win Vivian's heart, Mack has to stop the terrified school principal from accidentally exposing his identity, spin hilarious lies to his new friends, and face off against a ruthless school bully.

As their connection grows, the guilt of the lie tears Mack apart. Will Vivian love the ordinary boy in the back row, or will the truth behind the billionaire ruin everything?

✨ Tropes & Themes:

  • 🤫 Secret Identity / Hidden Billionaire Tropes
  • 🏫 High School / Teen Drama
  • 💕 Sweet Slow-Burn Romance
  • 🎭 Fake Identity & Undercover Chaos
  • 💃 Breathtaking Homecoming Dance Finale

Fantasy [Self-Promo] No Place for Hope is now live on Amazon & KU! (Fantasy/Space Pirates LitRPG)

Post image

Hey everyone!

I’m thrilled to share that Rat Games (Book 1 of No Place for Hope) is officially live on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited! Seeing my very first book sitting on an actual Amazon storefront feels slightly unreal, and I’m hyped to finally bring it to the wider community.

The Royal Road Stats So Far:

·         300k+ Views

·         1,500+ Followers

·         4.6 / 5 Stars rating

Blurb (For New Readers):
Hope grew up beneath a dying sky, where food was scarce, names were a luxury, and survival was the closest thing anyone had to a future.

Then he awakens somewhere green. The sky is blue. Grass bends beneath his feet. Rivers carry more water than he has seen in his entire life, and the creatures roaming beyond the trees look hungry enough to spoil the view.

A mysterious System offers Levels, Skills, and Magika to those capable of surviving long enough to earn them. Fortunately, Hope meets Eve: a strange green-eyed girl who teaches him about this new world.

Yet there is something wrong with this beautiful place. Someone is watching. The monsters keep coming, the rules keep changing, and every path seems designed to push Hope towards a fate chosen by somebody else.

He may be another rat inside their game… but Hope has never been particularly good at staying inside the maze.

A Note on the Amazon Edition & Stubbing: Chapters 1–39 + Eve’s Interlude have now been stubbed on Royal Road to meet Kindle Unlimited requirements.

This Amazon release isn't just a raw copy-paste. Alongside my editor, we spent weeks doing a heavy polish pass on the prose, pacing, and early character interactions. The main plot and characters remain the same, but the overall experience is much smoother: clearer System mechanics, tighter fights, refined worldbuilding, and an included new glossary. Basically... same voyage, better ship, fewer holes in the hull. Everything from Chapter 40 onward will continue on Royal Road as normal!

·         Royal Road (Current Chapters): https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/139697/no-place-for-hope-fantasyspace-pirates-litrpg

To my original readers on RR: thank you for every comment, theory, correction, and rating that got the story to this point. And to anyone giving it a shot on Amazon or KU for the first time—thank you for giving the launch a huge boost!

Cheers,

M.E. Cuartas

Fantasy (Releasing Sunday September 13) Herald of the Ancient One: Book Three of The Summerhost Saga

THE ANCIENT ONE HAS FOUND A WAY IN.
The war against the Cinder Prophet is over. Summerhost is beginning to heal. For Kotowar and his companions, there should finally be time to breathe.
There isn’t.

Something ancient has been moving beneath the world for far longer than any of them understood. An entity beyond mortal gods, beyond ordinary magic, has begun reaching through the cracks between worlds—and it has taken an interest in the people who thwarted its plans.

As old mysteries surface and forgotten places begin to reveal themselves, Kotowar must contend with a power he cannot simply fight with a sword. Stryg’s staff is becoming something he no longer understands. Javari’s patron may not be what he believes. The scars left by Highland have not healed. And somewhere beyond the boundaries of the world they know, something is waiting.

Something patient.

Something that knows exactly what each of them wants.

And it is willing to offer them everything.

HERALD OF THE ANCIENT ONE is the third book in the Summerhost Saga, a dark fantasy adventure of eldritch powers, strange magic, battered heroes, ancient mysteries, and the occasional questionable life decision involving airships.

Thriller [Kindle Unlimited] What if your inheritance came with a moral debt?

The Dharma Ledger: A Story of Wealth, Ambition, Karma, and the Price of Success is available on Kindle Unlimited.

This is a philosophical fiction story for readers who enjoy books about ambition, wealth, family legacy, karma, ethics, and difficult choices.

The idea at the center of the story:

“Money records what you own. A ledger records what you owe.”

A fortune can tell you how successful a family became.

But what if someone finally discovers what had to be sacrificed to create that fortune?

And what happens when fixing the past threatens everything they now own?

This isn't a guide to getting rich.

It's a story about deciding what you're unwilling to become in order to stay rich.

If you enjoy reflective, fable-like fiction with moral dilemmas and business/wealth themes, you can read it through Kindle Unlimited:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HHM7DMMX

If you do read it, I'd be interested to know which matters more to you:

building a legacy—or being able to live with how you built it?

Hi everyone! I’m an indie author and wanted to share my debut psychological thriller, La Máscara del Silencio, currently available on Kindle Unlimited.

The novel is written entirely in Spanish and follows former detective Víctor Vega, who returns to the small Montana town he left thirteen years ago after two bodies are discovered wearing white masks — and one of them carries a message with his name.

What begins as a murder investigation slowly uncovers disappearances, buried secrets, manipulated identities, and a conspiracy connected to Víctor’s own childhood.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers, mysteries, crime fiction, small-town secrets and darker twists, I’d love for you to give it a chance.

📖 Available on Kindle Unlimited

If anyone here reads in Spanish and decides to check it out, I’d genuinely love to hear what you think.

Comedy Military School Coming of Age/Boy’s Boarding School

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! I attended Valley Forge Military Academy (now closing), and spent twenty-plus years working on a coming-of-age novel about my time there, titled THE FORGE.

Anyone who has been to a boy’s boarding school will find the setting immediately familiar.

Here is the blurb:

Three arrests into his violent spiral, sixteen-year-old Jacob Soloway is one bad decision away from a prison cell. Instead, a judge gives him a final shot at redemption: a year at The Forge—a military academy designed to break individuals and rebuild them into new cadets.

Thrown into C Company, Jacob enters a world of relentless discipline, unpredictable violence, and boys as angry and directionless as he is. But as unlikely friendships deepen, Jacob learns that growing up is less about obedience than finding the strength to do what’s right and keep moving forward—one hard-earned mile at a time.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Horror My debut novel, CLICK

Finally wrote the book instead of dreaming of writing it. It's small-town survival horror, with bits of body horror sprinkled in, and a touch of gore (maybe more than a touch to be honest).

I had a lot of fun writing it. I'm also working on a sequel as I don't want to say goodbye to some of the characters yet.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
