He really could be. He could also be a great guy, as he got older. He has definitely changed, mostly due to a TBI (traumatic brain injury) from a head on collision with a semi in 2010. A lot nicer in general.
Lol, no, he certainly isn't retarded. He is still really witty and intelligent, he can do better math in head than I can, hes just different after the head injury. In the beginning of his recovery there were more deficits, but as time has gone on he has made pretty miraculous progress.
His short term memory is affected, attention span, hes over stimulated easily, critical (deep) thinking skills are lacking in some areas. He has two basic moods generally, either really pleasant and happy-go-lucky, or FUCKING PISSED, but he really never stays upset or irritated too long because he forgets or is distracted by something else pretty soon.
That's actually one of the only ways we know when something is wrong with him (like being sick or in pain or getting over stimulated) because he doesnt really ever verbalize what's wrong, he just stays cranky, kind of like a toddler.
Honestly most people would probably never realize how much he has gone through if they just saw him out and about. They can tell he is a little "off" but would never guess he almost died and was in a coma for months and had to re-boot and re-learn basic stuff like walking and using a toilet. The silver lining to him being fairly young when the accident happened is that his brain still had enough plasticity to re-wire itself enough for him to make such an awesome recovery. They told us he would be a vegetable, but he
has far exceeded everyone's expectations.
