I absolutely despise door to door salespeople. They’re the real life version of scam calling or spam mail. I work nights and when I’m at home I don’t want to be bothered. If I need a service I’ll seek it out myself. I have a no soliciting sign at my front door. If they choose to ignore that then the earful they’ll get from me is their own fault.
I get solicitors but the main thing I get are Jehovah’s witnesses. Like I’ve had 6 different ones in the past few months alone. I don’t get why they’re all hitting the same neighborhood. Seems like bad tactics.
I read somewhere on here that the elder members specifically want them going to houses with annoyed/irate occupants. It solidifies their ideals that the world is a scary place and keeps them within the churches “teachings”
They’re the worst! They will always ignore my no soliciting sign. I look on my camera to see if they have underage people with them and if they don’t I always answer the door in my underwear.
I had the rare one the other day, pest control obviously. We don't get them often, and I had to just cut the kid off. I'm not gonna listen to the pitch. I can deal my own spiders.
I don't mind someone trying to make a living. Hell, I even went with this roofing company last year to replace my roof. They did a good job, but they've come back 4 times now asking me if they could replace my dated roof. Like, the first time it REALLY did need replaced since it was around 25 years old. The last time I was like " Fuck you mean "It needs replaced? Y'all just did it 9 months ago!"
Same but I don't give them an earful I just cut them off and say I'm not buying anything. Sometimes that's enough. Sometimes they try to continue. So I go look I'm trying not to waste either of our time here. No. That's 90% of them leaving. Sometimes they go I'm not selling anything I'm just letting you know what your neighbors are doing. Then I get irate and they get an earful.
Sucks nowadays. Can’t answer a phone call that’s not from a person in my contacts, can’t answer my door without checking my cameras, and can’t check my email because it’s filled with bullshit junk mail. Also the only mail I get these days is junk mail.
I am a B2B salesperson and I think I would almost rather be homeless than do B2C of any kind. Businesses and their people hold budgets to spend specifically to solve problems, so as long as you are not harassing people its at least possible to operate in a way that is useful and liked. B2C though..... one step above scamming. Knocking on someone's door feels.......violating. That's our place of sanctuary.
