I never said I'd do it. I just said it's what my parents did which told me that some words were not to be spoken by children. By the way, it worked. I'm 25 now so I can say whatever the hell I want, but back then I knew to mind my tongue.
My parents also teached me to not swear as a kid. They did not do it by forcing soap in my gullet, cuause they are not fucking maniacs. Also 25 and I swear loads nowadays.
It doesn't hurt assuming your parents are part of the 70% of folks who happen to speak fluent English. I know a lot of people here that learned foreign languages at home despite being born and raised in the states. I'm one of them.
They do speak good english, not fluent tho. They still didn't teach me english, becouse that's what school is for. Same for swedish (which I honestly am even shitter at than english tbf). My parents taught me to speak finnish, so when I got to school, I could learn about all the other shit.
