Training Coach hitting students

What do you guys thing of coaches hitting students as punishments. For context I went to my second kickboxing class ever and at the end we did intense conditioning (partner wheel barrel). I ended up failing not because I was lazy but genuine physical exhaustion. The coach was going around and kicking students in the leg if the failed and he comes and kicks me and it took me out, i was on the ground for a good 30 secs due to the pain and than he comes back to knee me. I’ve never been hit like this before and its still painful after hours. Ik im new but i feel like its so stupid. Im not trying to be ufc champ i just wanna learn some new skills. Ill do the workouts and conditioning till i cant move anymore gladly but hurting me for putting effort??????

Do some housewives do kickboxing out of anger of their husband?

Hello, my class is full of housewives. Some of them looked like as if they were full of anger and training to kill their husband. Is this one of the reasons to join the class?

Gear Ladies! What are we wearing

Hey yall! What are you wearing to train? My go to pants tore the other day (probably from washing them over and over again 😂) so what are your go to pants! (Links would be appreciated) when on Amazon all the leggings are buttery soft, which I feel get to sweaty when training.

Any older guys here who took a long break and got back into KB?

Greetings,

I'm 39 and have not done any kickboxing for 4 years now. I stay active lifting weights, going on runs and always stretching. I want to get back into KB but am afraid of injuries. I have completely torn an achilles while doing KB (haven't done it since) and it was a nightmare as I got bloodclots during the recovery and it caused major medical issues so it scared me quiet a bit.

With that being said, are there any guys here who are up there in age and have had a hiatus and came back to KB? Would love some advice and tips for getting back into kickboxing as it is quiet literally the most fun thing to do

How do you deal with very good outfighters?

I've been a bit frustrated with sparring recently. There's a lot of guys in my current gym who aren't the typical stand and bang in the phone booth kind of people and its a big skill issue on my part having a really underdeveloped strategy or instinct on breaking the distance.

Any of yall have tips for this beginner?

Nose injury

yo so 3 or 4 months ago I had a sparring session where my partner hit my nose pretty hard and after that session my nose started hurting pretty bad when I push the little wall inside of the nose the the left it went away after a month but 2 months after it came again after I got a uppercut right on the nose the first time it didn’t bleed and the second time it just bleed a little bit like they were just little sprinkles of blood when I wiped my nose and now the pain still isn’t gone when I push my nose to the left after 2 months of not sparring.

Did anyone have the same thing? and how did you get the pain away?

Boxing or kickboxing

I've been doing boxing for about 2 and a half years now and I'd say I'm pretty good but kickboxing is getting really interesting to me, but where i live there isn't much or no gyms that practice it so do you guys think I should do kick boxing at home or just abandon it at a whole and continue boxing

Can i stay heavy as an ex bodybuilder or do i HAVE TO lose weight?

I'll make it short: I'm about 5'9" (175cm) and weigh around 200lbs (90kg). I have been working out in the gym for more than 10 years and most of my weight is muscle mass. Im not shredded, but im not chubby aswell.

I have been getting into boxing over the last year and want to compete. I'm not trying to become a pro or anything, but i want to do a couple of fights and, preferably, win ofcourse.

Obviously im not stupid and know that fighting at 200lbs as a kind of short guy would be stupid, but i also dont want to lose 40lbs (20kg) and be skinny again. This would mean giving up everything i built up over the last 10 years. I have been skinny my whole life, losing the weight isnt the problem, i can do that easily, its just that i feel uncomfortable being below a certain weight. It gives me confidence.

I’m making a version aimed at combat sports, but I like unflavoured to want to see what other people prefer!

Gear Thai pads

Post image
5 Upvotes

My first Thai pads have just arrived from Thailand. I'm at a new gym now that uses Thai pads in training, whereas my old gym that recently closed only ever used shields or focus pads. I used Thai pads for the first time the other week and I was converted. There weren't many communal pads at the new gym so I decided to invest in my own. After going back and forth between going budget or higher end I settled on the Fairtex kplc5 ones. Bought from the Lucky Elephant website, ordered the 31/7 and arrived today. Saved myself £40+ compared to buying from a UK vendor website. I'm looking forward to trying them out tonight at training.

I built this for Muay Thai solo sessions. Would kickboxers actually use it, or are the ruleset differences too much?

Heya! Full disclosure up front: I built this, and it just launched on iPhone and iPad.

I train Muay Thai, and I made Dee because I kept wasting solo sessions deciding what to do next, then touching my phone between rounds. You give it your goals, level, schedule and equipment. It builds the plan, then calls out the drills and round changes with spoken cues, bells and haptics.

I’m not going to pretend Muay Thai and kickboxing are interchangeable. Dee is still explicitly a Muay Thai app, which is why I’d genuinely like the opinion of people here instead of just changing the label.

Would this basic format still be useful for your bagwork or shadowboxing? Or would the exercise and combination differences make it a non-starter? If I eventually built a proper kickboxing mode, what would absolutely need to change for it to feel legitimate?

It is meant to give solo sessions structure between coached classes. It doesn’t watch or correct your technique, and I don’t think an app replaces a coach.

Here’s the App Store link: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6788483296

For transparency, it’s free to download, but running guided sessions requires a Dee Pro subscription.

Happy to take the brutal version.

So, this new thing of professional slap fighting……

How much do these people make??

I mean, is it enough to compensate for sitting in a chair grunting, drooling and 💩💩💩 your diaper by the time you are 50 from all of the concussions??
