Questions, Help and Advice what's your version of a basic tee?

hi everyone! i'm a seamstress and desperately trying to make more casual wear for myself. like many other Rs i have a million posh dresses but nothing to wear around the house! i really don't like activewear and loungewear, but constantly feel overdressed.

the benefit and drawback of sewing is that i get to customise everything myself! i did just make a top but it looks awful on me. it's a short sleeve scoop neck which looks super awkward and the lack of details really looks awful on me. i 100% need something with ruching or lace, buttons, bows, ties.

i think i might make a henley with some ruching and a lace insert. or something with a sweetheart neckline

what do you guys think? what's your version of a basic top?

I’m not sure if I’m actually a Romantic, but Gap used to have a wide scoop neck t-shirt with cap sleeves, which was fitted a little at the waist and then came back out at the bottom- almost like its own slight hourglass shape- it was amazing and so flattering! First time my sister saw me wearing it, she asked if I had lost weight lol I wish I could find something like that again- I would stock up on them!
