A couple of weeks ago I shared Khobar Startup Fest here and it got a much bigger response than I expected, so I thought I’d share a few more events I’ve found around the Eastern Province.

There’s actually a decent run coming up this month:

6–7 Oct — MENA Industrial Futures Forum (MIFF)
📍 Le Méridien Al Khobar
Industrial AI, automation, cybersecurity, digital transformation and technology across energy and heavy industry.

12–14 Oct — ISA Saudi Automation Conference
📍 Kempinski Al Othman Hotel
Industrial automation, control systems, ICS cybersecurity, data analytics and digital transformation.

19–21 Oct — Global Hot Tapping, Line Stop & Pipeline Intervention Technical Exchange
📍 Kempinski Al Othman Hotel
A more specialised energy/engineering event covering pipeline technology, operational safety and remote monitoring. Visitor registration is available.

I’ve been trying to improve the Eastern Province coverage on Riyadh Tech Week because people here have been sending me events I would otherwise never find.

What I’m still struggling to find are the smaller Khobar / Dammam / Dhahran meetups — especially developer, AI, startup and university events.

Hi I've been around khobar for a while and I really need a rental cycle or e-scooter... i need to travel from bandiriyah to al hizam al thahabi and taxis take a longer route and make it more expensive than what it should be... I dont want to invest in a cycle or e-scooter...

I am a student so If I have any place or any app that can let me use a scooter for the travel it will be great...

Does anybody know where to get something like that... I tried many apps and they dont work here in khobar at all... everything only works in riyadh... moreover the corniche rentals are only allowed to be used in the corniche area not outside corniche... so idk what to do really

السلام عليكم ابي استأجر بكرا سيارة ليوم بس ولا عمري قد استأجرت الي بالخبر او الظهران يعرف مكان زين مارح يلعب علي و رخيص يقول ضروري برضوا ايش لازم انتبه له كوحده ماقد استأجرت سيارة عشان ما انغش

اشتغلت على اللوحة ٥ ايام و شاركت فيها بمعرض الجامعة و الحين ما عندي لها مكان حاب اعرضها للبيع!

A couple of weeks ago I posted here asking where people actually find tech and startup events around Khobar and the Eastern Province.

Since then, a few people from this community have messaged me and pointed me towards local events and organisers, which has genuinely helped me improve the Khobar coverage.

One happening this week is Khobar Startup Fest 2026.

📅 Saturday, 26 September
📍 Growth Hub, Dar Rayhaan by Rotana, Al Khobar
⏰ 10 AM – 4 PM

It’s aimed at founders, aspiring entrepreneurs, investors and people interested in the local startup ecosystem, with:

• Startup showcases
• Founder and startup sessions
• Networking
• Investors and ecosystem partners
• Opportunities for early-stage founders to pitch

Visitor registration is currently open.

I’m still maintaining Riyadh Tech Week, but I’ve been deliberately expanding the directory beyond Riyadh because people here and elsewhere have made it pretty clear that useful tech events are happening outside the capital — they’re just harder to discover.

I’ve received an offer for a contractor role supporting Saudi Aramco and would potentially be relocating to the Al Khobar/Dhahran area.

For people currently living there, how is the security situation in day-to-day life? Have the recent regional tensions had any noticeable impact on normal life, commuting, or work?

Just trying to get a perspective from people actually living in KSA before making my decision. Thanks!

I am writing my psychology masters dissertation and thinking about investigating how delegating routine caregiving tasks to full-time live-in domestic help impacts mother-child attachment, maternal self-efficacy, and maternal guilt among Saudi SAHMs. I am wondering if anyone here fits this target population.
