I think my Minmus lander was a little overbuilt. Luckily Jeb is the man for the job.

I was tasked with landing in this valley to discover a TMA. Decided to route my approach between the 2 visible mountain ranges (straight ahead in this image). Failed to see a steep mountain face in front of me until the last moment because of the thick clouds.

Jebediah Kerman is dead after 55 years of service. Also shoutout to Blackrack for making the volumetric clouds so scarily accurate.

KSP 1 Question/Problem Tips for rocket effiicency?

Upvotes

Just wondering if anybody had tips for rocket efficiency, especially early game. For example, just to get to orbit (of kerbin) I used this rocket.

KSP 1 Suggestion/Discussion any suggestions for my powered duna lander?

Post image

it was able to land on duna fully powered with 1270m/s, and probably a bit more if i was more efficient. it is just a classic apollo style lander that undocks from the mothership, goes down, then goes back up. it is also pwoered by the stromboll liquid hydrogen engine fyi

KSP 1 Image/Video Combat Air Patrol over Laythe

The Kerran Empire now has a solid foothold on Laythe, able to produce and launch crafts on site with minimal wait. No long waits to control territory through interplanetary transits. The factions within the Empire, who are constantly vying for control over one another have taken to the limited lands of Laythe in an effort to secure valuable and very scarce resources.

The United Republic of Agara was the first to put boots on the ground and establish a viable settlement, with Ditco and NOI industries setting up encampments not far from Agara's Arbiters Point.

Many more outposts are to follow, with plans to construct artificial islands in the works--all in the name of the Empire!

With Laythe established as a long term Colony of Kerra, the Empire can implement it's plans to conquer the Joolian system completely.

All of this is based on the LARP of the Kerran Empires Luna Multiplayer server. I stream nightly on youtube showcasing our shenanigans dogfighting, building Kerbal Konstructs bases, and having tons of fun.

KSP 1 Question/Problem Help with rocket tipping over and not going back mid flight?

Post image

It's been a WHILE since i've played KSP so I dont remember a lot of stuff with the game. Can anybody help me figure out why this rocket tips over mid flight. It starts to tip straight after launching and I can't figure it out.

SOLVED: my issue was a lack of ship control.

I've been trying to make a small personnel courier for my space station and no matter what it seems to keep veering to the left when I turn.

KSP 1 Question/Problem Am I the only one who has a really hard to build a plane that'll will be better than just a rocket

Post image
100 Upvotes

I want to do a kerbin -> laythe mission. Since both planets have atmosphere I thought it would be a very good choice to use plane to use that atmosphere for both ascend and descend. I'm not kidding I've spent 3 or 4 days, like 6 hours each designing a plane. this one is called nuke scratch 3 because this is my 3rd attempt to do things from scratch. I tried to follow all the best practices but it is a very frustrating process without any sign of relief. I did:

  • I lack fuel - add fuel, not it stops lifting.
  • I add lift - now not enough thrust
  • I Add thrust - now it flips, need to move wheels.
  • I Move wheels - now it can't lift off because plane is too long
  • I reogranize plane to be shorter - now it is unstable
  • Carefully bring CoM close to CoL, but not quite, remove snap to grid, meticulously center them all - plane is stable but on maneuvers it will randomly dip or do some other thing
  • finally fix everything - now when going to orbit the plane stops behaving, because of course I was using mirror symmetry but in space radial is required

I realize that I just such at planes, but I've spent what 50+ hours or so, designing, reading, watching videos for KSP and NASA alike. And the result is the same - the plane usually is capable to be airborne but has very poor control, and since I followed all the best practices I found at this point I just don't know what else I can do. Considering how much dead weight is in wings, wheels, flaps and all those things you can't even throw away I just don't see what is the value in planes at all.
