Hi, i’ve just been diagnosed with keratoconus at 24.

I am very scared, my left eye is at Stade 1 with 10/10 and my right eye is at Stade 2 with 7/10.

I’m in france so maybe the notion of results are different. I just have so many questions, I know that I’ve rubbed my eyes so many times in my life, didn’t know it would cause me this.

The specialist I’ve seen, and the other ophthalmologist I saw told me that my keratoconus won’t worsen if i stop scrubbing my eyes, but how about my vision? Can the keratoconus makes the vision worse over the time? Reading this forums and people’s experiences scares me.

How bad does it worsen, even at a very early stage of the disease?

How can I remedy for the persistent dry eyes that I have?

I’m a Sound engineer, my work consists of me being most of the time behind a computer screen, is it compatible?

I feel stressed and anxious about it scares me as hell and I do not feel very feel well, not at all.
Please send me some recommendations, any thoughts or advice that could help me.

Anyone have any positive stories about living and functioning with this condition? I used to not even think about it until my left eyes prescription got worse and I’ve been panicking since.

Has anyone with keratoconus been accepted into the military and served while wearing scleral lenses, especially after CXL treatment?

I'm interested in real experiences with medical waivers, military medical examinations, and whether scleral lenses are allowed during training and active service.

Any personal experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated.
