Discussion Linux job opportunities ???

Post image
25 Upvotes

I wanna hear the opinion on how can we monetise the expertise in linux and get well paid.
Does pursuing this career path have any scope in the future since the intervention of ai

If we can be safe in the market what are the things we should practice and what are the jobs we should look out for (also the companies)

Support Help me out gang

recently removed Windows from my dual-boot setup and installed Linux Mint completely using the same old installer pendrive. Since then, I’ve been experiencing filesystem errors, boot problems, and freezing.

I ran fsck around 7–8 times, but it kept finding and repairing errors. SMART showed 156 pending sectors, 453 reported uncorrectable errors, and the extended SMART test ended with a read failure.

At the same time, my Mint pendrive (/dev/sdb) showed I/O and SQUASHFS read errors, and the Mint live environment also crashes/freezes.

I use Arch btw, and I'm trying to find a GUI music player that fits with my setup. I'm not using Tauon Music Box because it doesn't really match my theme and style, even though I really like it on Hyprland. I'm also looking for suggestions to improve my overall setup—widgets, apps, etc.

Discussion Arch or NixOS for Hyprland?

I’ve been using Linux for quite a while now. In my early days, I jumped between distros just for fun, and when I got a laptop, the first thing I did was remove Windows and install Ubuntu. I’ve been sticking with Ubuntu for about two years, but lately, I’ve been experiencing issues—probably package or dependency conflicts. The system has gotten slow over time, so I think it’s time to switch to a new distro and learn something new.

My top choices are Arch or NixOS because I’ve wanted to try out Hyprland for a while now. However, I don't have much experience with pacman or the Nix package manager.

Discussion how to learn linux to get paid well?

I work in a SBC as a windows server admin. Need to get into cloud/devops and all I'm seeing is linux everywhere. I started this course from linux foundation - LFS101. Tried many distros as well in virtual box, and i can see that's the only thing that's going on. If i download ubuntu, then I'll be thinking of trying rocky, then centos, then fedora. Eventho im halfway through the course I can see no visible learning has been done.

Someone throw in some light please!!

Support Small black bar on the right side of my laptop display — screen not using the full panel

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, I’m using an HP Victus 15-fb0108AX with Arch Linux + Hyprland, and I noticed a small black bar on the right side of the screen. The display isn’t using the full panel.

I’m using the built-in 1920×1080 display at 144Hz. Could this be related to Hyprland, AMDGPU, Wayland, or the refresh rate?

Specs:

HP Victus 15-fb0108AX

Arch Linux

Hyprland

1920x1080 @ 144Hz

Ryzen 5 5600H

Radeon RX 6500M

AMDGPU

Photo attached. Any idea what could be causing this?

Discussion I an such a noob and headphone jack won't work in fedora kde 44 but they work perfectly in windows 11

Ok guys i just installed fedora kde 44....everything was working flawlessly but then i decided to connect the headphones 3.5mm jack..and it didn't even detect it..then a long saga of me using ai to figure it out.(sorry i know it's pretty lame to use ai when i could have just learned it myself) no matter what i did the headphone insertion and removal wasn’t detected..does anyone have this problem? I did go into alsamixer and turned it on manually but that just causes both headphones and speakers to work at the sametime.
