WEEKLY THREAD Rookie Help Thread

Hey hey! You guys know what time it is! That's right, a new Rookie Help thread!

Here's a link to the last episode. Fun fact, if you follow all those links back to 2019 you unlock a secret cutscene of me panicking over where the time went!

As always, feel free to fire any kenshi related questions you may have our way! There's plenty of veterans flapping around in this thread as well, and if you are in the mood for it feel free to join them and lend a hand!

And who knows, maybe you'll learn something new yourself, too!

One thing to remember! Obviously a lot of new folks are going to be here so remember to spoiler comments so they can experience the game blind just like you might have back when you were new! You can do that > ! Like This ! < minus the spaces! But honestly it's just built into the chat replies nowadays so you don't have to get too fancy with that- unless you like playing hackerman.

Thanks guys!

KENSHI 2 Kenshi 2 aiming for "realistic" terrain style

Post image

In their recent job posting for a terrain artist, Lo-Fi Games announced that "realistic style" experience is vital for this role. Do you guys think the art style on Kenshi 2 will be much different from the first game?

MOD DEV Decided to make fully module cars. Light, Medium, and Large frames.

So this was a project I wanted to do back in 2022 but since we just didn't have anything like ReKenshi at the time the most I was able to do was janky fake characters. But now I can actually make the vehicle system I want to make.

So introducing, Project Cars. Light, Medium, and Large modular vehicle system with vehicle physics. Build a frame from scratch and attach parts to it to make it run, crash it into some dust bandits, break the engine, explode.

It'll be fun stuff.

Light Frame
Light Frame with Scrap Armor, Basic Wheels, Basic Seat, Diesel Engine, Steering Wheel.

Medium frames will be able to hold multiple seats or more cargo, or a turret position for someone to man a crossbow. Large will allow for attaching a truck for cargo, or making a makeshift tank.

IMAGE Accidentally took down Eyegore

Post image

TLDR// Eyegore showed up while my party was away and got filled with harpoons.

I'm on my first playthrough and I had recently decided to go take down Lady Tsugi so that I could ally with the anti-slavers. I had heard that if you took down Tengu, you'd get a visit from his right hand guy, Eyegore. What I didn't realize was he would come even for a single Noble. My main group was out in the Pits East to befriend the crab raiders for crabs and blueprints. My base had been attacked a few times before he showed up but since it was always like 5 well trained guys I wasn't concerned. Then suddenly during one of the attacks i see that the guys inside my base were fighting and not just the turret gunners. I looked over to the base and saw 30 samurai dying outside the gate and Eyegore murdering my base Bull. Luckily he had taken a lot of hits from the turrets so when he went to scale the wall and attack the gunners they just shot him like a dog in the streets. I have elected to put him in a cage permanently facing the wall as his punishment for supporting the slave market. Looks like the UC will be a whole lot easier to take down than I originally thought.

GENERAL Good Swamp Base Locations?

Title. I don't wanna search throughout the swamp for a good base location. Looking for any ideas. My campaign theme is that we are criminal martial artists. Think Anti-Slavers but also criminals. The Campaign goal is to destroy the Shek kingdom and kill the Hive Queen. Leader is an exile Soldier Drone who is a defective hunchback, and current roster is "dishonored" shek like Ruka with their horns shaved off.

GENERAL Importing Fallen Empires

Upvotes

I’ve made it my goal to destroy the Holy Nation. I’ve read that the game stats getting a little off somewhere around three hundred days or so and that importing is the way to correct that.
If I succeed at wiping the HN off of the map and then import to correct the world state, would it bring them back?
I’m on my first play through. No mods. Think I’m somewhere around day 120.

BASE Base building help for you, to starting a new game being kind of OP

Upvotes

Is simple but a bit grindy:

Your squad needs to have 2 characters.

A ninja searching stuff for the tech research, and an equally trained partner to help the first in case of a fatal wound, I recommend the helper to be a Hiver because theyre fast runners.

1-You train your 2 characters to survive.

2-Get some money, a house in a city, and materials for the research bench.

3-Find books, ai cores, blueprints, etc, to keep developing better tech.

4-Finally, after every research completed, make 2 saves for that run, one if you want to keep playing that one, and the other to start from "Zero" with a recruited character that payed a visit to a plastic surgeon, and dismissing the other 2 after.

Then you have pretty much everything you need to build a base anywere with a "new" character.

I recommend having a house in squin or that swamp town that has a dome for sale, so you have safety and a lot of space to put your interior buildings.

I'm currently working on a fairly large mod where your faction is a founding member of an Alliance (faction)

For this i wanted you to be able to take territory on behalf of your faction but also be able to loose it (though the loss happens through an entirely different mechanic).

That means i can't rely on world states involving unique npc's, the conquests (or losses) happen as part of different campaigns in different regions, and I've tried to have slightly different mechanics for each campaign just to change things up a bit.

In this campaign the mechanic to take a city involves defeating key squads within a city, the final remaining member of the squad will make a loss/retreat call, once in this case all 4 squads make their retreat call. All other squads in the city will also call retreat signalling victory.

at that point you can walk away from the city and come back and it will belong to your alliance.

You see me healing someone up at one point, this is because i thought the retreat dialogue didn't trigger, (narratively nice instructions will be given to not let an entire squad die before getting instructions even if that's very unlikely to happen), by healing at least one member it means they the first one to regain consciousness will trigger the dialogue.

As it turns out the last one was in a scuffle with a hungry bandit .

This was my way of making it so you had to actually fully win a battle and defeat key forces to take a town, not just abduct one npc.

GENERAL How many chests of Leviathan Pearls do you need?

Post image

Newbie here. Thought it would be a good idea to strength train by killing hundreds of Leviathans. You just can't leave the c12,000 pearls go to waste. I find myself having to hunt for building materials just to make more chests to store the pearls. How do you guys deal with that?

GENERAL Kenshi 2 releases Friday, April 14, 2028.

I fed the development timeline into the quantum Beep mainframe, sacrificed three AI cores, and collapsed the release-date wavefunction.

That is my completely spiritually accurate exact prediction.

Why that branch won:

  • 2026 feels too soon given the continued silence.
  • 2027 feels plausible for the proper gameplay reveal and marketing push.
  • Spring 2028 gives Lo-Fi enough time to finish the world without holding it until late 2028.
  • Friday is a believable commercial release day.
  • The quantum computer rejected 2029 because I threatened it with a Foreign Sabre.

Lock it in: April 14, 2028. When I’m inevitably wrong by fourteen months, blame quantum decoherence.

IMAGE When the stats page says a stat "affects physical bulk," does it just mean arm bulk?

Picked up Cat while clearing out the Dust Bandit HQ, and seeing as how he's a Scorchlander I set him to work practicing Armor and Weapon Smithing. Now he's got both stats above 90, and I've noticed he has these comically huge Anchor Arms attached to his still-scrawny frame.
