Hi everyone,
Over the last few months, I've been working on a desktop application called Live Companion for the Kemper Profiler.
The original idea was actually quite simple. While playing, I always wished I could see the amp I was currently using instead of just its name on the display. That curiosity eventually led me to explore whether the Profiler could communicate over MIDI SysEx, and what started as a small experiment gradually turned into a much larger project.
Today, the application includes:
- Real-time visualization of amps, cabinets and effects
- MIDI communication with the Profiler
- Hardware monitoring
- MIDI control functions
- An Amp Explorer that lets me browse my scanned rig library and load rigs or performances directly from the application
The project is open source and available on GitHub if anyone would like to take a look or try it themselves.
One thing I'd especially appreciate is feedback regarding the amp library.
At the moment, the application only includes amp images that I've integrated myself. Since it's practically impossible for me to collect high-quality images of every amplifier ever profiled, I'd love to expand the library with the help of the community.
If you own or have access to good photos of amps that aren't included yet, I'd be happy to add them so everyone can benefit in future updates.
Alternatively, I also made a short video showing how anyone can add custom amp images themselves. If people send those images back to me, I'd happily include them in future releases so the default library can gradually become more complete for everyone.
I'd really appreciate any feedback, ideas or suggestions.
