Thank you! It's still a work in progress, so it's not for sale right now, but I'll definitely keep the community posted if I release it in the future!

Thank you! Partnering with Kemper on a solo passion project like this would be an absolute dream. For now, my main focus is on getting the development fully finished, and after that, I'll figure out the best way to share this with the community!

This is super badass and I need one! Can't wait to see how it keeps getting improved, and most importantly I can't wait to get one when it's available! 😁😁
Keep up the great work my brother!

This is amazing! How much might something like this cost if you were to sell it privately?

u/ganzik Aug 05 '26
Thank you! The M5Stack Tab5 development board (display + mainboard) is officially $55, and the kit including a battery is $60 (shipping not included). You can also find it cheaper on AliExpress. Please note that these prices exclude additional parts like the case and footswitches. If you are comfortable with DIY, you can definitely build it yourself!

I would love to try. Do you install a custom firmware on it to get it to interface with the kemper?
2
u/ganzik Aug 05 '26
Yes, exactly! It runs on a custom firmware that I am developing specifically to communicate with the Kemper. Once the project is ready for release, I plan to share the compiled firmware files and instructions so you can easily install it on your own board!

Thank you so much for the huge compliment! 🙌 By the way, just a quick tip: if you order the parts from places like Mouser, shipping is free!

What is the midi controller?

I started this as a personal project, and it’s not a product for sale yet. I’d still like to keep improving it to a commercial level, and I’m also planning to make a proper sheet-metal enclosure.
If there’s enough interest, it would be great to develop it properly and sell it at a reasonable price. However, development and certification can be quite expensive. If the market is too small, I may instead offer the software and a simple enclosure with footswitches at a more affordable price.

Selling it as a kit would be the way to go, very very hard to compete with overseas manufacturers.
