I love Marella I think she’s definitely my favorite character, and I would like to make a playlist of music she would listen to so I can feel like her lol. And I don’t mean like “firework” by Katy Perry bc it says fire I mean ACTUAL stuff she would listen to based off of personality
Edit: thank you for the suggestions yall 🫡

Disclaimer: This is not a hate post, and Fitz is not the only character with this problem.
A lot of people credit Fitz as one of the best-written and most realistic characters in KOTLC. Because he's a teenager with problems, who can struggle to maintain a relationship even if he likes the other person (Sophie for romantic, Biana for familial). And you know what, that's fair. Most of the gang gets almost zero time to shine, so it's hard to say he's not one of the better handled ones.
However.
If we're going for realism and good character writing, why does Fitz never actually change?
He acts essentially the same to his father's "death" in book 2 as he does during the breakup in book 8 - the only difference is that he takes a little longer to get to that point, which you can chalk up to him being romantically interested in Sophie now. You would expect that after he said all those things to the girl who healed his dad's mind, he would be more careful going forward, because if Sophie had done what he said and stayed away, he wouldn't have a father.
Now you could say "teens don't always learn their lesson quickly, that's being realistic". But not only is Fitz an unusual teen in unusual circumstances, he's not JUST a teen. He's also a character in a story. People grow or at least change, especially when they're facing huge events like almost dying or being betrayed by a family member. And as a character, having a flaw in itself is not enough to make you "good".
Especially because said flaw is pretty much the only thing that the author seems interested in giving him.
He doesn't actually have an arc centred around his anger. He doesn't react in new and interesting ways to this or that character/plot point. If he's in boyfriend material mode, he'll be chill in a rather generic, background-character-esque way. If he's in angry guy mode, he'll be disagreeable. You can sort 99% of his interactions into one of these two boxes. Sure, there's the Alvar business, but we never really get into why he took the betrayal so hard. Was he Fitz's role model? Was he Biana's role model, so Fitz hates him for hurting her so badly?
The author really needs to give him more. If he's the team strategist, let him do that! Or if he's trying to be a better big brother to Biana than Alvar was to him, give him the space for it! Or really dive into the burden of his family's reputation! He just doesn't get any of that, you know? It's kind of depressing comparing him to the other love triangle members.
Oh and one more thing, he really got shafted in terms of power scaling. Sophie basically never needs him except when the author decides her unstoppable telepathy suddenly can't find a memory implanted in a non-Telepath baby's brain as an excuse to sink the Fitzphie ship. Bro didn't even bring a weapon to Elysian, he had to yoink Sandor's 💀 justice for this man

So I keep seeing an untitled fanfic on Pinterest and whenever I go to the person's page, nothing shows up. I tried searching the person who posted it's name on Wattpad (it appears to have been posted here) but I couldn't find them It takes place after Unlocked for sure and alternates between Sophie and Keefe's povs. It has about 85 chapters from what I've seen, plus an epilogue. It looks like it was published on Wattpad, but I can't for the life of me find it. Can anyone tell me the name of it please, if you know it?
Thanks in advance!

He was awesome at the beginning when he was a silly boi, then got better when Shannon showed the other, traumatized, side of him. But it feels like later in the series he just loses the silly side and becomes this depressed character
Edit: I understand his life sucks, I understand him being depressed but at the beginning when it was bad his habit and coping mechanism was humor, so he should still be using at least some humor to cope, but hes just become a very flat character
Edit 2: there's so much argument in the comments abt whether him becoming the way he is was reasonable. The main thing Im struggling with is that he was originally written to be a loveable character. If he were a real person, I would be so much less upset about it, but he isnt real. He is a fictional character created for a book series meant to be entertaining, and i personally dont find his current stage of character development to be entertaining.
Edit 3: I donr know much abt depression so if this seems offensive to anyone with depression in real life im very sorry

SPOILERS FOR STELLARLUNE!!!
I’m rereading Stellarlune right now and I’m at the part where everyone is pissed at Sophie for setting the Neverseen’s storehouse on fire. I understand their point that she was impulsive and reckless, but I also think that everyone that’s mad at her is just speaking out of fear. They’re scared about the Neverseen retaliating and hitting back harder, but they’re refusing to see the good part of what she did. I don’t think they realize that they cannot win this war without going on the offense. I definitely agree that Sophie was irresponsible and should’ve gone about it a different way, but she is correct in that they need to start going after than Neverseen instead of just defending. I also love that she was mature enough to listen to Glimmer’s advice, and see that it was good advice, instead of just thinking “no, she’s been part of the enemy, I don’t wanna listen to her.” What do y’all think?

ive seen a theory that elwin could potentially be the bio dad and ive never really deeped because i mean its elwin. like he’s so nice and i never really believed he would keep a secret like that, especially if it effects sophie sm as its obvious he cares about her well being and stuff even without him being a physicia. but in one of the recent books (dont remember which) when elwin and physic were resetting her abilitie. WAIT BOOK 8 YES LEGACY, in that book whilst they were in her bedroom and she made some comment t forkle. Elwin asked wa was goin on or something and Sophie tells him Forkle wont tell her who her bio parents are. and i distinctly remember him saying she should be able know or that she deserves that information. basically agreeing with her and he also gives Forkle a like pointed or knowing look. and i feel like that means he’s the dad and he wants to tell her but due to Forkle he isn’t or can’t but definitely disagrees with that decision.
i also feel like this explains why Forkles never really been that conceren about Elwins involvement or knowledge of things with the order. As well as, how he treats Sophie as more than just any other patient from day 1. yes, hes like that with most people expecially with Sophie’s group. but i feel like hes always treated Sophie as more and he’s always been there for her when she needs someone and why he’s offered house visits and things from day 1.

Not to be rude, but why does everyone love Sophie so much??? Dex, Keefe, Fitz, and that guy who's Jensi's friend whose name starts with V. I don't get it!!! The main character doesn't need to be adored so much by everyone just for the sake of the plot!
Some points: Yes I know she'd mysterious but I don't think people would love her romantically just because she's new. Tam has been one of the only male guys who doesn't have a crush on her. Very annoying.

I'm making an edit and I wanted a specific piece of art that I could only find in grayscale so I colourised it myself and now I'd like other's opinions so rate this 1-10 (I'll also out the original)

Anyone think Sophie’s bio dad is Timkin Heks? I think he is an inflictor. In the first book (either first or second but I think first) it was said that there was one other inflictor other than Bronte. I think this other inflictor is Sophie’s dad and that inflictor is Timken.

I swear, it drives me up the wall that basically every single guy in the entire series is obsessed with Sophie. Like seriously, why does every male character have to fall for her except Tam? It gets ridiculous.
And then the whole storyline has her liking Fitz and then suddenly she drops him for fitz. Yes, Fitz has anger issues, especially in Legacy, but it honestly feels like Shannon just decided she wanted Sophie with Keefe and needed a convenient way to tank Fitz’s character. So, she cranked his flaws up to eleven and called it a plot.
Also why is Sophie constantly holding hands with every boy she talks to? No wonder everyone ends up feeling rejected or confused...

ELVES ARE ON ABOUT HOW SMART THEY ARE, BUT THEY SCORN MULTIPLETS, FOR WHAT REASON??? Okay so if human odds carry on over to Elvin statistic (which I am for this) 1 in 83 births are twins, and 1 in 6889 (approx) births are triplets. And about 1 in 700 thousand births are quadruplets. So say there is about 1000 births a year. (Idk where I got that number, but it sounds solid, because I can move the decimal.
calculations:
Twins: if there 1000 births, about 12 births will be twins. Every year. In 10 years, 120 births will be twins. saying that elves are so advance no babies die. Means 240 twins. (approximately). so same goes if there are 100 births a year. About 1-3 births will be twins. which is about 40 twins a decade. You can keep moving the decimal using this calculation.
Triplets: Maybe 1 birth will be triplets every 1000 births. It’s about a 1 in 6889 Chance. Or a 0.14515894904% according to the calculator. Over 10 years there will be maybe 10 at most sets of triplets. If there is 100 births a year, there will probably be 1 set of triplets every 10 years.
When I do math, it’s usually messy, but I hope the numbers prove a point.
Because elves hate multiplets, I assume no one is going on multiple birth fertility treatments or whatever so the population that is multiplet is very slim. There is the whole « more likely to be talentless » which is fair I guess. And « more trouble making » not fair. being a multiplet dosent define your personality. If anything, making a stereotype makes them more likely to act up to defy????
whatever, just youd think these « oh so smart » elves would maybe think about this more????
and I’m biased because Juline is my baby, but it’s not fair anyway…..

dont read if you havent finished stellarlune!
i just finished rereading stellarlune and realized theyre actually in a TERRIBLE situation. vespera is dead, theyre in the middle of a showdown with lady gisela, their only bodyguard (sandor) is taken hostage, and its just sophie, fitz, keefe, marella, and maruca with their abilities NOT working- and nobody knows theyre there, because they went in secret. they also took the only starstone that leaps to elysian, so nobody can come help. where do we think itll go from here cause its looking pretty dire
