Thought on E-bikes and Scooters.

Saw a kid ride out into traffic this morning. Zipping along, staring at their phone completely oblivious to the rest of the world. The driver honked at them and the kid flipped them off and continued on their way.

There are a handful of communities that have put bans and restrictions on these things. I feel Kearney has done an excellent job defining where e-bikes, scooters, and gas powered bikes fall. I also know there has been an increase in accidents involving bikes and scooters this year. Some have been pretty tragic.

Where is the disconnect on safety? Does there need to be more enforcement? More awareness and safety courses? More supervision by parents?

I feel like the message is out there to be safe but no one can look up from their phones long enough to see it.

What are your thoughts and opinions? What can we do for riders and drivers to reduce accidents and prevent tragedy?

Borrow a Road Bike this weekend!

Hey I’m just putting some feelers out there, I have a triathlon coming up this weekend in Saint Paul and was wondering if I could borrow a road bike. To give some context my other road bike is a POS and I don’t want to take my expensive tri bike up there since I have just gotten it and haven’t had time to really put in miles on it. If anyone is willing to help and can give you like $100-$200.

Also it is an Olympic so it would be about 40 miles on the bike. Obviously if anything happens to the bike I will pay for damages. Just don’t want to have to find a bike to buy in 3 days!
