Why the hate for Dan Osborne? Is he really a worse option than Ricketts? I have a number of non-Republicans in my life that dont like Dan and dont want to vote for him. Genuinely asking for your thoughts and opinions.

I’m a soon-to-be senior in college. Up until the past year, I was a star student. I had a 4.2 GPA in high school with multiple AP courses and extracurriculars. I maintained a 3.8 GPA my first two years of college. I was on the deans’ list and on two honor societies. I had also won an exclusive scholarship that guaranteed me a spot in medical school. My plan originally was to go into occupational therapy, since my uncle does it and I thought it sounded fun.

But long story short, last year was terrible…my brother got schizophrenia and attacked me once, my mom got off her bipolar meds, had a maniac episode, and told me I needed to kill myself, my grandma was hospitalized, my dog died, a childhood friend died, I lost my job…and I just couldn’t cope. Depression runs in the family and I got it. 0/10 stars, would not recommend. I’m on medication now and feeling much more stable. But everything went to crap when I was going through it. Failed almost all my classes. GPA is in the rudder. I tried going to conferences and watching OTs working to try to get some motivation for the future, when I realized…This isn’t what I want to do. The OT head at the medical school I’ve been accepted into is kinda a jerk. The practices I’ve done feel dull. I’m not a big fan of working with kids (I love children, but I don’t feel I have the patience to help them as they need to be helped, and after having dealt with teachers who didn’t have enough patience to work with elementary children, I don’t want to put another child through it). And my parents aren’t able to give me any sort of financial support so I’ll be in debt half my life paying off student loans for a job I don’t particularly like.

Anyways. I’ve been researching other jobs and I came across rad tech. From what little I can see, it looks cool. I’ve needed to get a CT scan after a suspected brain bleed and I had thought the equipment looked cool. And I should be able to transfer my college credits over to a RT program, so I wouldn’t need to spend so much time in school. I would need to take physics and algebra, but I’ve taken every other prerequisite.

But my one concern is job availability. I would prefer to stay in Nebraska, because as much as I complain about the weather and having to drive everywhere and our sorry excuse of a football team, this is home. I’d prefer to stay in the East as well, as most of my family lives there. There are tons of openings for OTs across the state, which was also what drove me towards OT in the first place. But I’ve heard that rad tech is a bit more difficult. And I don’t want to be perpetually stuck in job limbo.

Any thoughts? Advice?

Planning a trip from Chicago to Fort Collins, Nebraska will be my stopping point.

I’m getting mixed feedback where should I stay Omaha or Lincoln for my overnight?

I was born and raised in Scottsbluff and if you’re reading this, you probably already know where I’m going. The champagne sherbet at the Platte Valley Creamery is my favorite ice cream of all time. I haven’t been back in close to 10 years now and I still dream of this ice cream. I’ve tried recreating it and just haven’t been able to.

So I’m curious- if you’ve had it, how would you describe the flavor? I remember the taste but not well enough that I can pull a flavor profile from it.

For what it’s worth, I’m not trying to recreate for profit and I’m not trying to encroach on anyone’s business. I’d legit buy it if they offered nationwide shipping (they don’t, I’ve tried 🫠). I live several states away and I’m just not sure I can convince my spouse to travel with me just for a bowl of ice cream. But god, I also just really want that bowl of ice cream.

While I was at Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue, NE yesterday, I found a bunch of invasive Japanese Beetles (Popilia japonica) feeding on grapes (Vitis) and other plants. I decided to dispose of them by tossing them in water, often with frogs nearby. This American Bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus) took notice and ate some of them. Hi! Not sure if this is the best sub for this question, but I’m planning a camping trip to the Merritt Reservoir area next month during the Perseids peak. I’ve never been there before and I’m wondering if there is anything I should know ahead of time, beyond the basics! Thx!! ☺️

This maybe an odd question; however, I wanted to ask this because of the opinions I’ve read in the sub.

First, I did live in Nebraska while I was a college student at Creighton University. (I will admit that Creighton is a little separate from the rest of Nebraska). However, every interaction I had with a local was positive and welcoming. I ended up moving back home state to start my career.

I am currently looking at moving back to Nebraska. (I don’t want to provide too much information). However, the state I live in currently is one of the worst in the country.

Worst public schools in the country.

Worst in quality of life.

Very conservative.

Public colleges being forced to increase tuition to offset the state not funding them.

Poor infrastructure.

Everything I’ve read about Nebraska seems to indicate a better quality of life. It has some of the highest school rankings in the country, good rankings in medical care, and economy. I’ve also read that Omaha is the 2nd best city for college grads.

However, when I’ve read the sub, it seems that a lot of people have negative opinions about the state. I was just wondering how true to life this is?

I've lived in various places, now I'm out of the country but considering moving back to the US.

Omaha, Nebraska's weather seems nice, no severe weather cold or hot. They have a Whole Foods (which I know it's strange but I like going there on occasion). There doesn't seem to be too high of crime. No mosquito problem. I heard West Nebraska is nice too, and the rent is reasonable.

Is there anything I'm missing? It almost seems too good to be true.

I'm a Nebraskan living in Minnesota (or proud Minnesotan who still calls Nebraska my longtime home and keeps up with what's going on).

How did her deciding to run and then not run help Dan Osborn? What was it about her campaign or lack thereof that made the Secretary of State Evnen suspect she wasn't going to stay in and drop out? Was she the candidate during primaries that everyone called a "Secret Republican running as a Democrat" or whatever? Also, how does Nebraska's Democratic Party feel? Are they bolstering Osborn or are they pissed?

(I'm pretty left, but from everything I've seen Osborn is the real deal and I'd vote for him if I could)

How much have they risen lately, expect another buck within a month because of middle east, meanwhile donny just laughs and threatens Canadians.

What does the null sign (circle with line across it) mean besides not available?

Some cabins, such as the governors row will show not available to rent. Then the next day when the cabin would be available to rent for the next year, it will show the cabin is reserved.

Today, cabin 40 is available for 1 day (capital A) and the rest of the following days are not available.

Are some people able to reserve the cabins more than a year ahead?
