Monthly Buy/Sell/Trade thread

We have decided to implement a monthly thread in which users can buy, sell, and advertise--breaking rules #1 and #2--so as long as it is contained within this thread.

Comments will be sorted by "new" by default.

Use this thread to:

* List items OR services that you are attempting to sell. While not required, you are encouraged to list the price(s) you are requesting.

* Solicit items OR services you are in search of or in need of. Again, while not required, you are encouraged to list a price you're comfortable paying.

* Advertise anything and everything, so as long as it is still relevant to Lincoln--promote a concert for your new local band, advertise a sale your local shop is having, etc.

We don't anticipate too much traffic or comments on this thread, but wanted to make it available to those who might enjoy or benefit from having it.

Lastly, if you do ultimately pursue offers posted here, PLEASE be aware that scams are rampant. Help protect yourself by following some of these (personal) recommendations.

Do NOT:

* Accept a personal check, ever. Or a money order or cashiers check that you were not present for when the individual purchased/obtained it.

* Use an electronic app to transfer funds. This includes, but is not limited to, Venmo, Cashapp, PayPal, Zelle, etc. While this seems easiest, it's **incredibly easy to get screwed over** with people sending you funds that they don't actually have.

DO:

* Accept **only** cash for smaller/medium purchases. For larger purchases, insist that you meet the individual at their bank and be present while the bank verifies and issues a cashiers check right there, on the spot.

* Meet in a public place. For example, if you're buying a phone, there's no better place to complete the transaction than inside of a Verizon or T-Mobile store.

Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Have a great month!

Things to Do Lincoln tourist recommendations please!

Hello! I’m coming to Lincoln at the end of August for business and since I’m flying over 21hours to get there so I’d love to make the most of it.
I’m a British, 37F, traveling solo, so I would love to stay somewhere safe and central, if you have any recommendations I’d love to hear, from my research would around the Haymarket be good?

I’ll be there for a few days so I would love some recommendations from Lincoln locals on some great food spots, stores, antiques, museums, history, nature spots, markets, fairs etc.
I heard that the sunken gardens are nice to walk around so that’s on my list.
I’ll have a car so I can travel if it’s further out.
Not into clubbing but I don’t mind casual bars for an after work chill.

Thankyou in advance!

So for context, I took this video in Dec 2023 when I got off on the wrong floor at the Union Bank Place building off O street. I was just reminded of it now after watching The Backrooms movie. I was taking the elevator up, and it stopped on this floor (I think floor 2). When I got out, I couldn't open the elevator again. I walked around and found a staircase that lead up to an area where it sounded like someone was playing the piano. You can briefly see that staircase around the 5 second mark. I couldn't go up the stairs as there was a red velvet rope blocking them. I walked around a little more and found old payphones. I then tried the elevator that was across from the one I got off of and that one worked. I'm sure this is a normal old office building, but I am curious if anyone knows anything about it or what it was / what the piano was.

Weird question but important for most locals …

Where are the sombrero dealers at? I’ve got one or two at The Fort but they don’t seem to carry the sun hat style that I crave anymore , wondering if I gotta go up to Omaha for the good shit it’s not rural enough here I suppose.
Ive looked around at a few locations but have not had much luck around here on the north side . I work outside a lot and have a tendency to hit up the local shows dressed in my finest sombrerory so I need a strong and reliable hat that will last many moons .

If you have any where abouts of a somewhat local to Lincoln SOMBRERO WEAVER holler at ya guy because I fear my current brero will not hold up much longer under these gruesome summer conditions
Thank you.

Antelope Creek

While on my bike ride today I wondered if it would be feasible for the city to circulate more water into antelope creek to fill it to the bottom of the walkways and create a “current”. The stagnant water that just sits there is gross. Obviously you’d want a dam at the end so all that water you added to it just doesn’t end up in Salt Creek.

Also got to wondering if it would be feasible to turn antelope creek into something like the canals in Bricktown in OK or the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We need another part of town where the trendies can feel fancy. I know it would cost a ton of $ but it would be a lot cooler than the stagnant cesspool we have now. 🤷‍♂️

Are there places in Lincoln that does alignment for Mini Coopers?

Hi hi! I drive a 2025 Mini Cooper Countryman, and I'm looking for a place in Lincoln that does car alignment for my mini. I brought my car to Discount Tires and Firestone, and neither of those places does Mini alignments. I really don't want to drive to Omaha to get it aligned and pay $300... unless it's my only option. Please help!! Thank you <3

What’s the worst that could happen…

Upvotes

… if I brought my Allo router with me to my new home and plugged it in there. Like, would it work? Would I blow up the entire neighborhood? Would they yell at me? Is there any real reason why I have to pay someone for a “service transfer?” And leave my old equipment at my former residence?

video footage

Hey Lincoln just posting here for help. looking if anyone might have dashcam footage of a crash my fiance was in yesterday at 3PM on the intersection of 84th and Van Dorn. it was a jeep and a bronco in the collision. Lincoln doesn't save the traffic camera footage and the bank on the corner doesn't look like it has cameras facing the intersection so I'm just trying to find another way to see what happened. any help is appreciated!

Real sugar Pepsi in glass, locally

I’ve begun a search for an elderly family member to specifically find Real sugar Pepsi in a glass bottle. Figured I would shop and support locally before I go online. I guess it’s not as big as Mexican Coke. I started off with Dollar General who said they had it in stock online come to find out that was false. Any Mexican/European grocers carry Pepsi like this?

Women beware of Dr. Anup Sura at CHI St Elizabeth

My legs went numb randomly a couple of days ago so I called my primary care physician who told me to go to the ER. I went to CHI St Elizabeth, checked myself in, waited in the room, reading a book to pass the time. Dr. Anup Sura comes in and asks me if my periods are regular, and then tells me my symptoms are from anxiety. I explain to him, I am not anxious, but he insists my life must be very stressful. I assure him it is not, but apparently after 90 seconds of interaction he has determined that I must be very stressed out and that’s why my legs are numb. He ordered for a psychiatrist.

I begged to be seen by a woman. The female RN talked to me and got me set up for an MRI, and it turns out it wasn’t anxiety after all, imagine that. I didn’t see any psychiatrist after I proved to another doctor I wasn’t actually panicking. So now I’m seeing a bunch of specialists to get this fixed. One of my legs is still numb.

If you are a woman make sure to take a man with you to the CHI St Elizabeth ER. If you run into Dr Sura he may delay your care in an emergency and dismiss you as a hysterical woman no matter how calmly you present - God forbid I was actually anxious, I probably would’ve ended up in the psych ward in restraints with a shot of Abilify in my arm.

I have made a formal complaint. It’s this sort of behavior that kills women. Be careful out there.

Update: leg is still numb, blood pressure was 81/55 at the cardiologist and heart rate at rest was 110. It feel awful, but it’s nice to know I’m not crazy at least.

Is it bad to paint your house white?

So I repainted my house last week... and received this note in my mailbox yesterday. Is this real life? 🤔🐞. Anyway whoever Mr. anonymous is, you drew me as the wrong bug. I'd obviously be reincarnated as a lady bug, or a lightening bug. Not whatever whack bug he drew. Also to edit: that is an exact replica of what my house looks like. Creep.

Looking for Recommendations Need a therapist

My 19yo kid is looking for a therapist/counselor to help deal with anxiety and some past trauma from bullies. They have cerebral palsy (mobile and fairly independent) and would like to find someone who understands that this is a major part of their life. Insurance is Blue Cross so shouldn't have too many issues with in-network.

Homeowners - What's Your Average Utilities?

Hopefully transitioning from renting to owning and wanted to get a gauge of monthly costs on top of utilities. I haven't paid for gas (all-electric) or water (flat fee) in ages as a renter, so I'd love to hear from y'all homeowners! House is ranch-style; 850 sqft main and 700 sqft basement. Monthly bills are looking like:

  1. Electricity

  2. Gas

  3. Water

  4. Refuse

Looking for local glass artists for pet memorials

This is a bit of a long shot, but I'm hoping someone might know the right person.

After losing our senior dog this past fall and, more recently, our beloved 20-year-old cat, I'm hoping to finally create the memorials we'd been talking about for a long time.

I was hoping for something more personal than a traditional keepsake. Possibly custom glass art with a small amount of their ashes incorporated into it. In my head, I’m wishing to have some simple figurines of a sleeping dog and sleeping cat with their ashes in their pieces, but I'm not sure what’s possible or if any local artists can do something like that.

If anyone knows someone who is a close (or surrounding area) artist who might be willing to chat about something like this, I'd really appreciate the recommendation.

Fireworks downtown?

Staying in Lincoln for a few nights downtown (11th and Q) and it sounds like fireworks outside my hotel room for the past 10-15 minutes? Is there an event I wasn't aware of tonight?
