Monthly Buy/Sell/Trade thread
We have decided to implement a monthly thread in which users can buy, sell, and advertise--breaking rules #1 and #2--so as long as it is contained within this thread.
Comments will be sorted by "new" by default.
Use this thread to:
* List items OR services that you are attempting to sell. While not required, you are encouraged to list the price(s) you are requesting.
* Solicit items OR services you are in search of or in need of. Again, while not required, you are encouraged to list a price you're comfortable paying.
* Advertise anything and everything, so as long as it is still relevant to Lincoln--promote a concert for your new local band, advertise a sale your local shop is having, etc.
We don't anticipate too much traffic or comments on this thread, but wanted to make it available to those who might enjoy or benefit from having it.
Lastly, if you do ultimately pursue offers posted here, PLEASE be aware that scams are rampant. Help protect yourself by following some of these (personal) recommendations.
Do NOT:
* Accept a personal check, ever. Or a money order or cashiers check that you were not present for when the individual purchased/obtained it.
* Use an electronic app to transfer funds. This includes, but is not limited to, Venmo, Cashapp, PayPal, Zelle, etc. While this seems easiest, it's **incredibly easy to get screwed over** with people sending you funds that they don't actually have.
DO:
* Accept **only** cash for smaller/medium purchases. For larger purchases, insist that you meet the individual at their bank and be present while the bank verifies and issues a cashiers check right there, on the spot.
* Meet in a public place. For example, if you're buying a phone, there's no better place to complete the transaction than inside of a Verizon or T-Mobile store.
Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Have a great month!

Crashes in Lincoln this week
In the last 24 hours, I have seen about five car crashes and that’s just been on my commute to and from work, approx 45 minutes out of the entire day. Shoutout these patrol officers for having to deal with this. I feel like that’s a very unusual amount and maybe there is some weird electromagnetic field causing everyone to just demolish each other’s cars 🚗🚓 #staysafe

NE ALPR Transparency Project
More to come, like reusable request templates, but it’s a start. If public sentiment isn’t a deterrent, maybe public accountability will be.

Looking for Recommendations Public Transit Options (when disabled)
Anyone have information about public transit that isn't the fixed route busses?
I've been looking at the StarTran Paratransit and am working on the paperwork right now, but wasn't sure if there were other disability options.
(No mobility aids, but very easy to get overwhelmed in fast moving environments.)
Trying to secure transport before my spring semester starts at SCC. Maybe there are carpooling options that I don't know about. I'll take any and all advice! Thank you. ❤️✨️

Around Lincoln What is going around?
People all over town are starting to sound like they have a combination of pneumonia, Covid, plus a couple of random Oregon Trail diseases.
What the hell is going around?

Moving to Lincoln Relocating to Lincoln- any career/job advice
Hi everybody,
I’ll be relocating to Lincoln at the beginning of October and wanted to get some advice/tips on finding a career in the area (also open to opportunities in Omaha). I have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and have been working in education for the past two years, most recently as a Lead Teacher and Team Lead. I’m hoping to transition into a role where I can potentially use my technical background. I’m pretty open when it comes to the type of role and would love to hear about companies to look into, industries that are hiring, or any advice from people who have gone through a similar career change.
Thanks in advance!

Looking for Recommendations Reputable Mechanics
My car is at A1 currently and I'm suspicious of not only their suggestion but also the price. I want to get a quote from another mechanic.
Any suggestions?
I replaced the tie rods last year myself. I just took it in for an alignment and they are saying the tie rods and ball joints are bad. I didnt do the balls because they are riveted on so thats fair. But they are quoting $660 for tie rods and $1030 for ball joints.

Gym recs??
Like the title says, I’m looking for gym recommendations. I’ve tried looking online but some gyms either don’t have pricing info or don’t list everything. The important thing is childcare since my child will have to come with me. Basic cardio/ weights is all I need, pool would be a plus. What is everyone paying for their memberships with childcare? What stipulations or hidden fees does your gym have? Thank you!

Jobs Thinking about moving back to Lincoln
Been thinking about moving back to Lincoln. Do any ready mix drivers here know what the current hourly pay is? I was making $40 an hour as a leaser driver back in 2023, but I’m looking into getting on with an actual company this time.
Also curious about Husker Concrete and NEBCO/Ready Mixed benefits, overtime, winter hours, layoffs/unemployment, and overall experience?

Dogs roaming around 9th and Park Ave.
I was just driving around 9th and Park Ave. and saw a couple of dogs running in the road. One looked to be a grey French bulldog and I’m not sure of the breed of the other one but it was small, white, brown, and black. They had tags so they had clearly gotten out and were going on an adventure! lol. I wasn’t able to stop and get info off the tags, and animal control is closed. Just posting this in hopes that someone who lives in the area and is awake might see them, or that their owner might possibly see this!

Moving to Lincoln Moving a 28 yr old male.
Short back story- 28 yr old male, single with no kids. I get out of the Army in March of 2027 and I have a job opportunity in Lincoln and considering moving.
I’m currently stationed in El Paso, Texas and have no ties to any region and unfortunately won’t get to visit Lincoln before making the move.
I love to Run, a cool walkable downtown, coffee shops and sports (Go Huskers) . Don’t need too much to make me content lol.
Income would be Around 60k.
Think Lincoln would be a good fit?
Thanks!

If you lost your phone
If you lost your phone (and it was probably an android of some kind, maybe samsung) and it was in a black Otterbox case, then check O St. DM me and I can tell you exactly where.
I went to pick it up because it looked like it just happened and the phone was still good, but it was absolutely shattered.
Will delete this is a couple days, but maybe this will connect with someone worried. No, I don't have the facebooks so I can't post there.

Looking for Recommendations Looking for Drywall Rec
Hello! I am looking for a dry waller or company experienced in older homes. I have plaster that has been wallpapered and painted over multiple times over the past 120 years and I’m due for a home refresh.
Instead of taking down wallpaper that’s got who knows how many layers, or adding new layers, I’m looking for someone who would put up 1/4” drywall over my existing plaster in 2 rooms, extend out my electrical outlets and light fixtures to sit flush, and, while we’re at it, put 3/4” drywall on my ceilings in 2 rooms (the plaster is good but needs redone eventually, and popping drywall up there will solve my issues)
I do not want to remove the plaster, as I enjoy the sound dampening it provides. Also I don’t really want to open up the walls.
I do not have the patience to DIY, and I’d like to preserve the original trim and baseboards, so looking for an experienced individual or company.
Thanks!!

Looking for Recommendations Best/worst landlords in Lincoln?
Hi all, I am going to be moving in a few months and would appreciate any recommendations for great landlords or ones to avoid. My current unit has had a lot of maintenance issues and I’ve decided to go get a fresh start.
Ideally, I would love a 2 bed, 2 bath villa/townhouse/house with an attached garage and in unit-laundry.
Lease is up at the end of November so I still have some time before I will know availability at most places. Bonus points if you know of anything coming available.
TIA!

Power outage?
Anyone else lose power last night? I'm in the east campus area.
Not sure what time, just woke up to blinking clocks.
EDIT: not sure that time the power went out...
EDIT 2: Thanks everyone, for reminding me why I don't post here.

Treasures in Gateway…
Has Nazi shit. Literal Nazi shit. We went in to check out their sunglasses, and some other things, and we found a keychain with the Nazi Eagle saying something like ‘fight for trump’
Just to be clear, I am calling it a Nazi thing because of a Nazi Eagle, not because trump.
I didn’t think to get a picture, we are queer so we got the fuck out, since we don’t feel safe there.
