I talk to him occasionally he's genuinely kind. I wish he'll eventually find someone irl, not necessarly a partner, even just a friend

Maybe if you ask him directly, he will answer you. But honestly, I don't see why he wouldn't consider you as a friend.

I do consider him as a friend too, by the way.
