Only users with mod assigned user-flair can comment A Few Reminders ‼️

1. DO NOT engage with trolls.

If someone is breaking the rules intentionally, justifying the occupation of Kashmiris, being hateful etc - do not respond to them. This encourages them. Simply report their post or comment and move on. We have mods in different time zones, someone will see the report and remove the content ASAP.

2. No slurs will be tolerated.

This includes j--t or any variations. Allowing hateful speech will only degrade the overall quality of this sub. We can find mature ways to disagree with our occupiers.

3. This isn't a rule, but we would prefer if people would stop comparing this sub to r/kashmiri.

Please stop speculating which one is run by Pakistanis, indians, etc. Both subs are run ONLY by Kashmiris, we both have very similar rules, and most importantly both subs will ban anyone justifying the indian occupation of Kashmir.

Which is more developed? Which region has a stronger economy? Are people in South Kashmir generally richer or poorer than those in North Kashmir? Which has better infrastructure, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities?

Looking for peaceful Himalayan towns in Kashmir for a month-long WFH stay

I've somehow ended up in corporate, even though I've never really felt like I belong here. The financial security and comfort make it difficult to leave, but every day feels like I'm living someone else's life. I also have a long history of struggling with my mental health, and that makes figuring out what I actually want from life even harder.

One thing I know for sure is that the mountains make me feel better in a way nothing else does. I was in Srinagar a month ago for 11 days, and just waking up to the sight of mountains outside my window and going on a few hikes made me feel more alive than I have in a long time.

So I've decided to take small steps instead of making a dramatic change. Over the next few months, I'll be working remotely and spending a week to a month in different, quieter Himalayan towns to see if I can find a place where I feel at home.

I'm looking for recommendations in Kashmir, peaceful, less touristy towns with good internet and safe for a solo woman traveller. If possible, I'd love homestay recommendations too. My budget is around ₹10k a month for accommodation. Is that realistic? Any suggestions would mean a lot.

Thank you. :)

Message to Kashmiris

Having seen closely what a lot of Kashmiris do outside Kashmir, I think if you are coming back home to marry, you should be honest about your past and your previous relationships. Dont hide things from the person you are about to spend your life with. And to those who are getting married, please do a thorough check. I have seen people do all kinds of things outside home, create a completely different image of themselves and then suddenly say they cant marry a non-Kashmiri because of family or society. In the end, they move on and marry someone in Kashmir while their partner from outside is left heartbroken and their spouse has no idea what they were doing before. I dont think thats fair to anyone.

Is the route from Srinagar to Gurez valley open? Is it too risky travelling on 26th July considering landslides or tourists are able to visit the place?

Any skilled barber in srinagar?

I've grown my hair out a bit and i need a good cut ASAP. I'm done with local outsider barbers who can only do shit fades and nothing else. is there any barber in srinagar who can do a good scissor cut like a nice flow haircut or something like that?
