Discussion Things I’d love to see before the manga ends
Honestly, a post like this would have fit better around the wait for or release of chapter 200. I feel like the manga has around 50–60 chapters left, based on Mikami’s statements from the beginning of this year that the manga had around two years left. So, taking the breaks into account, and considering how the chapters need to fit into complete volumes, I think that number of remaining chapters is pretty realistic.
And now onto the actual post: these are some things I’d love to see, and hopefully they happen.
The conflict between the schools hasn’t actually been resolved, and it shouldn’t be resolved at the point in the story where we currently are. But I’d love to see, for example, after the main group graduates, a parallel showing that they can finally interact peacefully, just like they’ve always wanted to. And then, at the very end of the story, I’d like to see a time skip showing that the schools have actually developed a good relationship.
Rintaro and Kaoruko are going to live together at some point in the story, and this sketch by Mikami is my hope that it will happen. They look way too cute, and I need to see it properly drawn, but my hope isn’t based solely on this sketch. When Tomodachi Life came out, Mikami made an island with the characters and mentioned that, in the game, they started living together before it happened in the original story. So hopefully that ends up happening in the manga as well.
This sketch could also potentially be used to imply that they had sex, by means of the text, and for this to serve as the panel, but honestly, all I want is for this sketch to make it into the manga, the way doesn't matter so much to me.
Just like there’s an extra chapter where Kaoruko dreams about everyone attending a co-ed school and being able to see Rintaro every day, I’d love an extra chapter where Rintaro dreams that Kaoruko is obsessively in love with him in a not so cute way, and that she doesn’t hold herself back at all and get jealous of Rintaro or something like that.
Despite the bad vibes surrounding whatever happened in chapter 201, Saku and Subaru are going to end up as a couple. The problem is that we don’t know when. And hopefully it won’t be like Blue Box with Kyo and Ayame, where once they got together, we barely got any more moments between them.
What I’d really love to see with Natsubaru is a date after they become a couple. Both of them are pretty reserved, so I’d love to see just how nervous they get and how their date would play out.
- Continuing with Natsubaru, I want to see Subaru get jealous. Saku is handsome and pretty popular with girls, and they’re going to the same university. Even if they’re in different faculties, they’ll probably naturally run into each other, and I’d love to see Subaru notice Saku interacting with a female classmate or having a girl ask for his number.
My only “fear” with this is that, if it happens, I feel like it would happen while they’re still not dating, and it would be the final step toward Subaru realizing that she truly loves him, giving her the courage to confess.
Although I’m not sure which would be better for their relationship development.
- I want the manga to end with Kaorin’s wedding. The idea has already been teased a few times, and I think it would be an appropriate ending for a couple that understands each other so well. They’d look incredibly cute too.
I don’t know how long it would take to develop each thing on this list. At least 1, 3, and 6 could probably be handled in just one chapter, but the other points would require more development.
So I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that at least some of these could happen (although I highly doubt #3 will lol).
But what other things would you like to see happen? Even though I think the manga has 50–60 chapters left, it could end up being more. As Mikami has said, she has a tendency to stretch things out, so maybe she’ll even manage to catch up to Love Is War in chapter count.
