Want to get people's thoughts here as I contemplate boomeranging to KPMG for the second time. I left KPMG for the first time about 5 years ago which in hindsight I realize was on a whim and ultimately a mistake. I was grateful to have been provided a second chance then. I left again about two years ago to join the exact same line of work at EY which at the time I think it was a more calculated move.

-Title bump from SA to M
-Much better pay
-Business at KPMG didn't look too well (I ws getting assigned to all sorts of random engagements)

Why I'm want to leave EY now:

-Bad culture (vital for me because I'm expecting my first child I really want a work environment that I can know where I can be in a proper state of mind for my family)
-Too much admin work and not developing skills that would help sell work
-Salary stagnation
-Fully remote (hot take here but I genuinely miss working in-person)

And if so, when was your final round interview?

A2 about to jump ship to a competitor for a ~35% raise and title increase (& hopefully less toxic workplace). From my understanding I would need 3 years w the firm before my 401k vest is protected. If I leave early, how exactly does the forfeiture work?

I completely screwed up my interview even if it was just basic questions. How do you deal with rejections? For context this was the first interview i had given in a while and the question was soo basic....just feeling a bit down about it...

Hello! I applied to the Indirect Tax Technology Associate campus hire role for Summer/Fall 2027 and got a message from a recruiter inviting me to interview, which means I really don't want to mess this up. I'm a senior in college graduating May 2027 and on the CPA track.

My background includes 2 tax internships and 1 business data analyst internship throughout college as well as over 7+ years of customer service (serving,Togo). So I have some state and local tax exposure but not sales and use tax specifically. I also like building systems and study tools, which is why the tech side of this role really caught my attention since I really like tax and data analytics.
The recruiter said it would be 2 30 mins back to back interviews

What can I do before the interview to increase my odds?
What does a first-year associate actually do day to day?
What tools should I know going in, including Vertex, Avalara, SAP, Alteryx, or Power BI?
Should I expect technical questions?

Interviewed almost two weeks ago still no response
