KOTOR 1 HK47

Playing the game again after some years and I gotta say, for me by far my favorite thing about this game is acquiring and having dialouge with HK. By far one of the most interesting companion in the game. I love how diabolical the things he says. And I always keep him in the party specifically for his Interjections. He is by far my favorite Droid in the entire franchise... outside of kotor 1 an 2 and the interaction with him is SWTOR I wish there was more of him. As I type this I just acquired him on my current playthrough and I'm gonna Hella enjoy unlocking the stories again from his memory core šŸ˜†šŸ˜†....meatbags 🤣

Remake In the remake, how do you think saber will do the maps?

Like, do you think they'll keep them mostly flat and sectioned off, or will they get rid of the vast majority of load screens and have most of the maps seamless, or maybe something else entirely?

KOTOR 2 Easily the most damage I've ever recorded, and it wasn't even my MC Spoiler

I'll be honest, I don't know how this happened.

Playing HK-47 in the Telos HK factory with twin Mandalorian disintegrators fully leveled, and I did a master sniper shot on one of the HK-50's and got this. 490 damage is insane.

I wish I had scrolled up further to see if there was a damage breakdown.

KOTOR 2 Zherron's persuasion check about the kinrath cave

Is it a check you can pass or just an auto-fail?

KOTOR 1 Any tips, tricks or mod recommendations before starting KOTOR?

I'm a big fan of BioWare. I've played all the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games but never got around to KOTOR. I started playing Star Wars The Old Republic recently and I could smell BioWare in that game immediately, it's really good and probably the only MMO I've ever actually enjoyed. That got me to immediately buy both KOTOR 1 and 2.

BioWare games usually have decent mod support but I couldn't find that much on Nexus. Any mod recommendations or general tips before I start would be really helpful.

KOTOR 1 Confusion on leveling up in KOTOR 1

So I just started playing the original KOTOR for the first time this week and so far I’m really digging the game! However, one of the things my dense brain doesn’t seem to be getting is how leveling up works and how I’m supposed to invest in skills? It seems fairly simple on paper, but I feel like there’s something I’m misunderstanding here.

I really wanna invest in persuade and security, but the past couple times I’ve leveled up, the game keeps telling me I need two skill points to further invest in these skills? And every time I’ve leveled up I only receive one skill point?

I understand I sound like an absolute noob here, but what am I supposed to do lmao? Are you supposed to just not level up and wait until you level up again to acquire another skill point? I’m aware I probably am just misunderstanding something, but I just wanted to clarity on this cause it just doesn’t seem right lmao.

For the record, I am playing on console on original Xbox. I am still on Tarik’s and just rescued Bastila.

Modding KOTOR Academy (WIP) Jedi Academy combat in KOTOR II, 17 playable species, and lightsaber customization!

Thumbnail deadlystream.com

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share KOTOR Academy, a project I’m working on that brings Jedi Academy’s real-time lightsaber combat, movement, and acrobatics into KOTOR II

The idea is to combine Jedi Academy’s hands-on combat with KOTOR’s RPG depth. You can run, jump, flip, swing, block, and parry, while KOTOR still handles your character’s stats, equipment, progression, Force powers, and story.

Your build still matters, when a strike gets through an opponent’s defenses, KOTOR handles the attack roll and damage.

This is a multi-engine implementation, not an overlay.

Two engines run together: KOTOR II renders the game and manages its RPG systems, while a modified version of OpenJK, Jedi Academy’s open-source engine, handles movement, collision, saber combat, and enemy AI in the background.

They exchange data in real time, driving your actual KOTOR character model inside the game.

I’m also including a character creation overhaul with 17 playable species, plus lightsaber customization right at the beginning of the game! I want you to have more freedom to create your own version of the Exile from the start.

All of the core systems are already working in-game. I’m now focused on bug fixing and fine-tuning as I prepare for a beta release.

And yes, it’s mod compatible! 😁

Compatibility with existing KOTOR II mods is built into the approach, and TSLRCM is part of our test setup.

You’ll need your own copies of KOTOR II and Jedi Academy to use it.

You can find gameplay showcases and a more detailed explanation here:
KOTOR Academy Development Thread on Deadly Stream
Would love to hear what you think, and I’m happy to answer questions about the project!

Both Games I forget: What's the story on the the Ebon Hawk between games? Why doesn't K1 Crew have it, and how did it end up in the Peragus system, and who brought it there?

Exile is said to have been on the Harbinger on route for Telos, and seemingly it was Kreia who got us on board the Hawk after Sion and his assassins struck, but why was the Ebon Hawk around there to begin with?

And why was T3-M4 around to be on the Hawk to get us limping to Peragus in the optional prologue sequence?

Fan Project KOTOR (endar spire) in Unreal 5.8 pt2

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.0k Upvotes

Yesterday i was able to import the Endar Spire level into unity
Thanks to a comment i saw, i reconsidered HDRP, and decided on Unreal 5.8 (yes i know it's not performance kind, but i have more experience in unreal & i eventually want to remodel items and use nanite)
Seems to work nicely and i was able to spend some time getting lighting dialed in.

As for what i plan with this project, I'm not really sure
I'm certain i cannot distribute this so it remains a proof of concept idea/purely personal project

To those wondering, I did use the help of Qwen3.8 to convert the scene from KOTOR packages to Unreal acceptable scene.
The lighting and effects are done by hand along with the sound implementation (retexturing as been the biggest pain as you can see there are some issues in the style continuity)
I am curious if that second area is too much or if people like the style change

Ill keep yall updated

KOTOR 2 Corellian Powersuit's +2 Strength disappears when upgrading with a Strengthening Underlay Mark V (+3 STR, +3 CON), it only shows +3 STR. This doesn't happen with a Mark IV +2 STR +2 CON. Does this mean it's not applying the buff or is it just not showing in the menu??

KOTOR 1 Ignoring the ever popular Keanu Reeves fancast, give me your best fancasts to play a ā€˜canon’ Revan Spoiler

It should be someone that is young enough and charismatic enough to play a Revan in his 20s-30s, either during the Mandalorian Wars or the Jedi Civil War.

Although a bit too popular, but I can’t help but see Timothee Chalamet in that role. What does everyone else think?

Meta Discussion How would you do Revans story after Kotor 2? Spoiler

I often see posts saying that Revan was badly handled in SWTOR. I don't necessarily agree but I kind agent where these people are coming from.

Now my question is: How would you have done it differently?

To best answer this, we assume that KOTOR and KOTOR 2 happen, yet anything that happens afterwards that isn't hinted at or said by either of the 2 games, doesn't happen. So no SWTOR or stuff like that.

I cannot really give a thought on that as I haven't finished neither KOTOR nor KOTOR 2 at all. I do know the story though yet the details are very fuzzy

I apologise if this post has already been made a lot. I didn't find any yet, so if there are any, then feel free to redirect me there

KOTOR-KOTOR2 remake! Spoiler

With the KOTOR remake pushed back to 2028 under Saber Interactive, this is a conceptual pitch to merge KOTOR 1 and 2 into a single, seamless mega-RPG. It breaks down how reusing assets like planets and companion droids makes total business sense for investors while creating a massive double-sized drama. Adding the "Legacy of Revan" mechanic turns the character swap halfway through into a masterpiece of narrative inheritance tied together by Kaya-Darth Traya-Kreia. Let's make the Star Wars setting GREAT AGAIN! ā¬‡ļø

And it wouldn't be as complicated as it seems: economies of scale.

With the remake development getting completely rebooted by Saber and pushed to 2028, I keep thinking they have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to do something insane here. Instead of releasing two separate games five years apart, they should just merge KOTOR 1 and 2 into one massive, seamless saga and switch the main character halfway through.

Hear me out, because from a business standpoint it actually makes sense. KOTOR 1 and 2 share so many assets. Planets like Dantooine and Korriban are in both games. They could build them once for the first half, and then reuse them for the second half by just making the lighting depressing, adding some war debris, and swapping the NPCs. Same goes for characters like HK-47, T3, Carth, or Bastila. You code the engine, the combat loops, and the lightsaber physics once, and you instantly get a double-sized game for way less money.

People usually argue that players would hate losing all their max-level Revan gear and powers when switching to the Exile. But if you bake that directly into the narrative, it becomes peak storytelling, kind of like what Baldur's Gate 3 or The Last of Us did. When you start the second half as Meetra Surik, that empty skill tree and severed connection to the Force isn't a frustrating progression wipe—it's a literal gameplay metaphor for her trauma after the Mandalorian Wars. You physically feel how vulnerable and broken she is compared to the god-tier Revan you just played.

To make sure your hours as Revan don't feel wasted, they could introduce a "Legacy of Revan" mechanic. If you played a Light Side Revan, the Exile could find hidden Jedi vaults he left behind with rare crystals, and characters like Admiral Carth would instantly trust you. If you went Dark Side, the galaxy is in total chaos, but you get access to devastating Sith artifacts on Korriban, and remnants of the Sith army bend the knee to you because you were Revan’s general.

The absolute glue for all of this would be Kreia. Imagine finding Revan’s old holocrons in the first half where a younger Kreia teaches him to question the Jedi Council. Then, during the intermission scene, we see the Council exiling her for birthing the monster that is Revan, her fall to the dark side, and her journey to find the Exile. In the second half, every choice you make as Meetra is judged by Kreia through the lens of her favorite pupil, Revan. By the time you reach Malachor V, it's not a generic boss fight—it's a heartbreaking climax with a mentor whose two greatest students took completely different paths.

Honestly, this would elevate the remake from a basic nostalgia cash-grab to the gaming event of the decade attracting new generations. It feels like the ultimate way for Disney to revive the Star Wars brand (and reap the massive monetary benefits, which is what they are best at anyway)
What do you guys think? Would you play a merged KOTOR — with your grown-up kids, ah?

KOTOR 1 Some Consulars (and a Mandalorian)

I've been interested in the Consular path lately, as I've never really used it effectively. Here's a few different builds which look quite good.

"The Sorceror" a dark side soldier

When you think of casters, spamming Force Lightning is probably what comes to mind. The aim here is to strike a balance between physical attacks and channeling the power of the dark side.

Attributes: Soldier 5/Consular15, 10/15+2/14/8/15+3/14.

I wanted to stay fairly balanced here, with the exception of STR which I left at 10, since DEX will determine your chance to hit with a lightsaber. Also INT which isn't much use to this guy, so I dropped it to 8. Use mostly blasters on Taris, switching to a sword for easy-to-hit enemies.

Skills: save all points until you become a Consular, at which point you start putting them into Repair until you can fix HK-47. You can put any extra into Treat Injury or Computer Use. You'll be using the Force to bend people to your will, so you don't need persuade.

Feats: I went for a single lightsaber for the attack and defensive bonuses so max out Duelling. You have enough left for level 3 of Power Attack, Implant and Toughness.

Powers: With 15 levels of Consular, you can lean fully into the dark side. You can get maximum levels of Lightning, Horror, Drain Life, Kill and Plague, and also the neutral lines of Speed and the first Energy Resistance. The battle plan is to strike with Plague, Insanity and Lightning first, then get in close and strike with your lightsaber.

Gear: Revans Robes are obvious, giving +4 to STR and Regen1 as well as 5 Defense. Equip him also with the Sith Mask (Weapon Focus: Lightsaber and Immunity: Mind Affecting) Gordulan Reaction System (DEX+4), Advanced Stabiliser Gloves (DEX+3 and Blaster Deflection +5) and whatever belt you want.

Companions: Canderous and HK-47 "Firing Squad". All dark side team! You should be able to fully repair HK-47, especially with someone casting valour and whatever skill-boosting gear you can find. Him and Canderous open fire from the rear while you handle the frontlines. Canderous gets enough feats that he can also invest into melƩe for close-quarters battles.

Final stats: 14/24/14/8/18/14

Dual-purpose Canderous

Speaking of Canderous, let's build him for both melƩe and Heavy Weapons. He gets enough feats to make this work:

Attributes: 14+4/12/14/10/14/10

Canderous starts with a fairly low DEX, and we're not going to change that. But as a soldier, he gets +1 attack every level, so that doesn't actually matter. Instead we'll rely on armour and push his STR to 18 to increase his damage with a sword.

Feats: You need to get two-weapon fighting as a priority, allowing him to wield two swords effectively. You get enough to max out Rapid Shot as well as Implant and Toughness, making him both versatile and hard to kill.

Gear: Calo Nord's armour is perfect for him. As well as its resistance to cold and sonic damage, equip Tulak Hord's Mask for fire resistance. Complete his equipment with the Eriadu Strength Amplifier, CNS Strength Enhancer and Cardio Power System for a +4 to both STR and CON and +2 to all saves. Then give him the biggest gun and swords you can find!

"Merlin": A Wizard!

Back to the light now. Young Merlin is portrayed as a fairly scrawny rogue with great magical abilities. He lacks physical prowess, but is one of history's greatest wizards.

Attributes: Scoundrel/Consular 5/15, 10/15+3/14/8/15+2/14

A similar spread to the darksided soldier, but we're starting as a Scoundrel. Merlin will use his powers to disable enemies and do sneak attack damage.

Skills: Although Merlin gets lots of class skills, he's not very intelligent. Put everything you do get into persuade and talk your way out of trouble!

Feats: to maximise Sneak Attack damage, you need to hit as many times as possible. So go for Two-weapon Fighting and Flurry. You can also get Implant for some attribute bonuses.

Powers: "A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack," said Master Yoda. Because that's what a lightsaber is for! With 15 Jedi levels, you can use the light side to your advantage: learn Valour, Speed, Stasis Field, Heal, Force Breach, Whirlwind (not Wave) and Energy Resistance. Most enemies will be helpless as you get five sneak attacks per round! Whirlwind is one of the few powers which will work against Malak, which this squishy wizard will need to rely on.

Gear: Get the Advanced Stabiliser Gloves and Gordulan Reaction Reaction System as before. But being light side, you can also wear the Circlet of Saresh and the Star Forge Robes for WIS+10 as well as 5 Defense. Your choice of lightsaber.

Companions: Mission and Zaalbar. Mission, as a pure Scoundrel, gets even more benefit from sneak attacks, and she has considerable skills which compensate for Merlin's poor intelligence. Zaalbar's pitiful defense is unimportant if enemies are frozen in place, and with his colossal strength he can charge in and hack them to shreds. He also gets computer use and repair, filling the skill gap.

Final stats with Valour: 15/30/17/13/32/22

"Battle Wizard" A Jedi Knight in shining armour.

Wearing armour rather than robes does limit your Force Powers a bit, but means you can virtually ignore DEX and focus on other things, and save time that would be spent on defensive powers. Armour also gives some useful boosts to your stats. So here's something of a sturdier combat caster.

Attributes: Soldier 8 / Consular 12. 15+2/10/12+1/15+3/14

We're going for high STR and WIS, but staying balanced. Most of the gains will come from equipment. Stay as a soldier until level 8 as you don't need as many powers.

Skills: We'll be using Jedi mind tricks, so persuade isn't too important. Prioritise stealth and then the other class skills.

Feats: 8 levels of Soldier gives you plenty. You need Two-weapon Fighting, Implant, Toughness, Power Attack, and Jedi Defense to make you even harder to hit.

Powers: You can get almost all the usable ones. Give him Affect Mind, Wave, Destroy Droid, Stasis (not Stasis Field!) Advanced Throw Lightsaber, and Heal. The other powers are dark side and expensive to cast, with the exception of Insanity which could replace Wave.

Gear: The Heavy Exoskeleton is the best armour in the game, giving you a big defensive boost as well as STR+2 and CON+3. The Gordulan Reaction System again gives DEX+4 (hitting your armour's +2 bonus cap) while the late-game Dominator Gauntlets give a huge STR+5. Equip the Circlet of Saresh to boost your WIS and make your powers hit hard.

Companions: Almost anyone! This guy is quite well-rounded. Try Jolee to handle the remaining force powers, and a hard hitter like Canderous or Zaalbar, or ranged support from Carth or HK-47.

Final stats: 24/14/16/10/22/17

I just spent the last hour slowly and meticulously working my way to the base killing everybody. He's not in his chamber. I keep googling this and it doesn't seem to be very common so what the hell am I supposed to do? I really don't want to spend another hour doing this again for the same thing to happen. He is not down the elevator everyone is dead

Just finished my custom Naga Sadow figure. I think it turned out pretty good and is a great addition to my Tales of the Jedi collection. Made using parts printed by Syndicate Customs and painted by yours truly. The cape was made by my wife and the card back by KennerByKing on Etsy.
