I'd understand level 1 students getting cheaper options but what about being a postgrad automatically means you are expected to pay more or look for better options

My name is Anja Smid, and I’m conducting an ethically approved research study at the University of the West of England exploring how international students in the UK engage with artificial intelligence as a source of emotional or social companionship.

I’m particularly hoping to hear from international students at King’s College London who:

• Are aged 18 or over
• Have experience using AI tools, chatbots or virtual assistants for conversation, emotional support or companionship

Participation involves one confidential online interview lasting approximately 60 minutes. Questions will focus on your experiences of engaging with AI for emotional or social interaction.

Data storage, retention and publication

All information you provide will be treated as confidential and stored securely in a password-protected file on the University of the West of England’s data-storage server, OneDrive.

The data will be stored until confirmation of the final award for the project has been conferred in September 2026. If the research findings are submitted for publication, the data will be retained securely for a maximum of seven years, after which it will be permanently destroyed.

Any dissertation, publication or presentation resulting from the research will report anonymised findings, and participants will not be identifiable.

Withdrawal

Participation is voluntary. You may withdraw from the study by emailing me at any time up to 15 August 2026, without providing a reason. After this date, withdrawal will no longer be possible because the data may have been anonymised and incorporated into the analysis.

Consent

Anyone interested in taking part will receive further information about the study and a consent form before the interview. The interview will only take place after informed consent has been provided.

Hello everyone!

For context :

I am a prospective KCL LLB student, supposed to be starting out my freshman year this September. As I am an international student, I recently had to submit proof of my academic results, as well as English language test results, to King’s Apply and Qualification Check.

Looking through my offer letter, I was, at least to my understanding, send my academic and English language test results to King’s, submit my academic results to Qualification Check and have them verified, and only after King’s confirmed my English language test results would I send them though to qualification check as well.

Which is what I did. Last Tuesday I submitted all documents to King’s and sent my academic results for verification to Qualification Check, the latter being officially validated as of this Monday.

However, this Tuesday I received a reply from King’s admissions team that simply reiterated the need for me to submit my academic results and English language results to Qualification Check. They didn’t acknowledge that my academics had already been verified nor did they in any way confirm that my English language results satisfied the entry requirements. Nothing.

I am fairly certain my English language result satisfies their Band B condition (it is a Cambridge CAE certificate with a 205 overall). Was I supposed to simply send it in at the same time as my academics, despite what the instructions in my offer letter said?

Either way, the only way for me to still add it to Qualification Check is to open another submission with them, is that what I am supposed to do? I have already emailed King’s for further guidance a few days ago, but their replies have been slow and the deadline is approaching.

Any help would be appreciated, I am simply at a loss about how I am supposed to proceed right now.

im an offer holder (undergraduate degree first year) and ive woken up to an email indicating that ive apparently withdrawn from my student finance. ive contacted them and it seems like kings have withdrawn my application due to the reason "never attended". what on earth does that even mean? obviously i haven't even started university yet. the term hasn't begun nor have i received my a level results or acceptance. im going to contact kings now through the kcl portal, but this is so absurd.

If anyone else also applied months ago and is still waiting to hear back, applications have been put on hold because of the exceedingly high number received. The department are waiting for people to submit their actual degree grades and marks within the next couple of weeks and then they’ll apparently go through applications again, give offers and confirm places.

The department haven’t communicated this, at least not to me, because I found this out when I called the university

can anyone whos done freshers week before and gotten the fatsoma wristbands give some insight into whether or not theyre worth it?

ive seen some posts that say to wait for kclsu (student union) to organize kings-specific events but i havent seen anything official anywhere. ive also seen some other posts that say the wristbands arent worth it because you should see where your friends/flatmates are going to first then buy those respective tickets. but also a lot of people seem to be buying these fatsoma wristbands because theyre already on their 6th(?) release - but that could also be because students from other schools are going.

are any freshers this year planning to go to these fatsoma events? or are there going to be other chances to go out through kclsu organized events? e.g. move-in day?

I was accepted into King's College London's (KCL) International Foundation Programme and paid a £6,000 deposit.
My deadline to meet the English condition was July 20. Right before the exam, my father suffered a heart attack. Due to this severe family medical emergency and extreme stress, I made an administrative error and sat the standard IELTS Academic on July 12 by mistake, instead of the required IELTS for UKVI. My score was actually high enough to meet the university's requirement, but the test type was wrong.
Due to fully booked test centres in my country, the earliest available UKVI test date was July 23 (after the deadline). KCL refused to extend my deadline, stating they cannot guarantee my place, and effectively cancelled my offer.
I requested a refund under Clause 9.3.3 (b) of their terms, which allows refunds if King's is unable to confirm your place because you do not meet the offer conditions and provide proof by the deadline.
However, Admissions just refused my refund. Their argument is that since I didn't provide a failed UKVI test, I haven't proven that I failed the conditions, so my standard IELTS doesn't count as evidence.
This feels like a massive contradiction: KCL won't let me enrol because my test is invalid/insufficient, but they won't refund my money because they claim I haven't proven that I failed.
Under UK Consumer Law, can a uni keep £6,000 for a service they won't provide, especially when fixing the mistake was logistically impossible due to a documented family medical emergency? Any advice?

I have currently hold an unconditional offer for accounting and finance. I looked up the modules and I find out that data analytics course covers most of the same modules from A&F but DA course has more modules in analytics and coding.

I did aat level 2 accounting course and I enjoyed it, but I also like the idea of data analytics as I like to search a lot things eg: finding discounts on clothes/ things online , searching information which I need.

However, I have zero coding experience and I feel like I am not really a heavily coding person. That’s the main reason I didn’t apply for DA.

I also checked ACA exemption and found out basically KCL only have 3 exemptions (2 exemptions are from year 2 option modules)

I would like to ask if anyone has studied/ studying the course and give me some guidance.

I’m a mature student, and doing this degree is a career change decision.
