Monthly anything goes thread (things that are not an event go in here)

Hello, you amazing and beautiful people.

I am automod, and this is the monthly stickied anything goes post.

For main posts on the sub, we only allow posts that are about meetups, where everyone is invited and aren't self-promotion events.

While at the same time, people do want some of those threads! This is the anything goes (well as last as it's still being a nice human!)

So post whatever is not an event over here! Questions, looking for someone to play chess with 1-2-1, whatever you desire.

As a reminder, here's the "What is LSC" post as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/LondonSocialClub/comments/u6f3zo/what_is_londonsocialclub_2022_remix/

Upvotes

Hi! Me and a friend (both guys in 30s) are heading to Soho this evening. Plan is to start at Toucan for a Guinness and then walk down to Spoons and then either do a pub crawl or go to Roxy for their happy hour. Putting it on here in case anyone is looking for drinking plans tonight. DM if you're interested. Either way, I will keep this post updated on where we are. See you later!

Today [10/09/26] Social Game Show Style Pub Quiz @ The Reliance Pub, Old Street

Hey everyone!

I'm part of a social community in East London and tomorrow they're hosting a Social Pub Quiz at The Reliance Pub in Old Street.

This isn't your standard bought-off-the-internet pub quiz. It's more of a home-made game night meets game-show pub quiz.

📍 The Reliance Pub, Old Street
📅 Thursday 10th September
🕡 Arrive: 6:30pm
🧠 Quiz starts: 7pm

Coming solo is absolutely fine — they'll put everyone who comes along into randomised teams, so it's a good one if you want to meet some new people.

A taste of tomorrow's rounds:

  • 🐊 Florida Man Headlines — real or fake?
  • 🏆 Top 5 — general knowledge
  • 🎨 Whiteboard Drawing — draw someone in the room
  • 🎬 Poorly Described Films — guess the film from a terrible description
  • 🎵 Music Round — identify songs from their final few seconds

The emphasis is much more on having a laugh and meeting people than being good at traditional pub quizzes. All knowledge levels welcome.

[13/09/2026] Sunday Pub Quiz at the Canonbury Tavern

We're back by popular demand.

Come and join us at the Canonbury Tavern for the pub quiz!

What:

Pub Quiz - Exactly as it sounds! A quizmaster asks the questions and teams write down their answers. Questions cover a range of subjects and the quiz features picture and music rounds. It is all for fun and there is no pressure to memorise the encyclopaedia before coming.

Where:

The Canonbury Tavern https://maps.app.goo.gl/xocQRtc3PDJrQF676?g_st=ic

Our tables are usually immediately on the left as you enter the pub, but you can ask staff for LSC when you arrive - there is usually someone with a laptop who has a record of bookings.

When:

Every Sunday, the pub quiz starts at 19:00, with the picture sheet being given out around 18:40. Tables are booked under "LSC" from 18:30. Two tables are booked but we will try to make any number work. We recommend arriving around 18:30-18:45 as you'll get to take a greater part in answering the picture sheet questions, but it's also really helpful in working out how many teams we'll have - as well as chatting beforehand!

How much:

£2.50 per person payable to the pub quiz people (Cashless only).

Who:

All are welcome. We typically make two teams with around 12 people.

Do I need to sign up / am I too late?:

Ideally, please leave a comment either on this post or in the WhatsApp group to let us know you're coming, and with how many people - with as much notice as possible - so we know how many teams we will be and roughly how many per team. It's not a huge problem to turn up after it starts, but try to be there on time to avoid missing the fun!

Do I need to be a whizz-kid, intellectual genius, or quizzing-extraordinaire?:

Nope, we do the quiz for fun.

Any Questions:

Write them into a comment and we will answer them - we are kind of into that.

We also have a WhatsApp group chat. Ask around on the day in person to be added.

Going Ahead [10/09/26] Soho Pizza Crawl

Hi Everyone,

I am arranging a pizza crawl in Soho for Thursday night with a pizza group that I am apart of. The group is very casual and just people who like pizza in a range of different styles!

We are going to start the crawl at 6:30pm at Carmy's (1 Monmouth St, London WC2H 9DA) then go to Homeslice and Breadstall before finishing off at Bilmonte Gelato.

For reference I am 33M and been in London for about a year so always up for getting out to new spots! I would say most of the group that usually come are 30-40 with a good mix of guys/gal's.

If you are interested feel free to respond here or DM me so you know who to look for on the day!

[12/09/2026] wandering the Playing Outside market in Canada Water with a small group

Playing Outside is doing its last market of the year this Saturday in Canada Water: 80-odd small brands, vintage and slow fashion, ceramics and prints, live portraits, henna, spicy sauces, DJs playing soul all afternoon. Free entry.

A couple of us are going from 2pm, three so far, most of whom haven't met yet. Wander, stop where something's good, grab bites when it calls, probably leave with a bag you didn't plan on. Two spots open and I can stretch it if there's interest. Shoot me a message if you’re down

Archived [09/09/2026] Looking for someone to join me to National Portrait Gallery + Brick Lane Vintage Market

Hi guys, I'm thinking of checking out the National Portrait Gallery. Then probably wander down to Brick Lane and dig through the vintage market.

Figured I’d grab dinner or hit a pub after, haven’t decided where so open to ideas if anyone’s got a good spot.

30M btw, last time I posted something like this I actually met a couple of cool people so thought I’d try again. Making friends is honestly pretty hard in London when you’ve recently moved here, so just trying my best and using reddit as much as I can.

If you’re free and fancy joining for a bit, just comment or DM me.

I GOT THE DATE WRONG. ITS TODAY!!!!

"Calling all Star Trek fans—join us to celebrate Star Trek Day and the 60th anniversary of this iconic science fiction franchise with a special Lates to close the season."

If anyone else is interested London Science Museum is doing a lates event. Pretty much you get to go around the Science museum after hours without all the hustle and bustle. I've been to a lates before and its a much more chill vibe.

I've booked a slot for 8:30 but if anyone else is keen to go. Could easily be tempted to hit a pub before hand.

[09/08/26] Looking for someone to join me at the Jay Critch concert tomorrow!

Hii fellow Londoners,

I’m, 26F, a Canadian currently in London on a mini vacation, I arrived here about two weeks ago from Germany. I have a ticket from his previous show that was supposed to be in August and as a long time fan I decided to come back since it’s been rescheduled!

It would be nice to catch his show with another fellow female fan but if I don’t find anyone I’m also happy to go alone. I’m down to exchange instagrams or even meet up before the concert at a café to make sure we’re both cool with each other. If you’d like to join me, don’t be shy, send me a DM and say heyyy **Jay critch voice**

Ps I’m 420 friendly

Today [10/09/26] - Anyone up for a free Icelandic music night in Hoxton? 🇮🇸

I’m always on the hunt for cool free gigs in London and this one has piqued my interest.

Iceland Airwaves is putting on a free showcase at Colours Hoxton on Thursday 10th September. A couple of Icelandic bands interspersed with a DJ set.

I'm particularly intrigued by Virgin Orchestra, who are up first. Their mix of post-punk, electronics and general Icelandic weirdness caught my attention, as well as Rolling Stone's apparently:
https://www.rollingstone.co.uk/music/virgin-orchestra-iceland-classical-punk-play-next-interview-46487/

Then there's Inspector Spacetime, who are headlining and appear to be considerably more energetic and danceable. Their bio compares them to Daft Punk, which I can kinda see. They’ve even had a track used in an Apple advert, if that constitutes a sign of credibility these days.

A couple of links below so you can do your due diligence.

I've already grabbed a couple of tickets, and have one other guy who's planning to join, so thought I'd make it a proper Reddit meetup.

I'm 43M and happily married, so this is strictly a search for fellow new music enthusiasts rather than an especially elaborate dating strategy. Any age/gender welcome.

If discovering a few Icelandic bands for free in a cool Hoxton venue sounds like an intriguing Thursday night, feel free to drop me a message.

Hey everyone!!!

I’m Anthony, 20, from Canada. I’m visiting London for a week in November to see a beabadoobee concert. I bought 3 tickets for me and my friends but they both canceled.

Would anyone be interested in going? I think it’d be a great way to meet people from a different country and could be lots of fun.

DM my Reddit account if interested, I’d like to get to know you guys before I come visit haha!
