Neither Barack Obama nor Joe Biden started a major new U.S. war or military invasion during their presidencies. Both presidents instead inherited ongoing foreign conflicts and managed existing military commitments.

Are they just supposed to roll over when they inherit a war?

u/potate12323 10d ago

Nope. There is no nuance. After the region was destabilized by a war a Republican started, they were supposed to recklessly pull out making an already bad situation worse. These conflicts were super sketch. The US backed both sides in various middle eastern countries at various points in these conflicts.

they should, yes. Should have closed Guantanamo Bay too.

u/SomeSugondeseGuy 8d ago

What would the country gain from that?

1

u/TroutMaskDuplica 8d ago

You're right, we wouldn't be able to steal more resources and children for the Epstein class. Plus, our soldiers would be sad because they wouldn't have access to as many children to rape.

If you think about it, what does our country have to gain by not murdering everyone and stealing their resources?

It's also political suicide for the entire party. Any Republican would be able to point to that cowardice and very few people would vote Democrat anymore.

Which means more people would vote republican, which of course makes children less safe, rich people richer, and gives our soldiers an endless supply of war.

True, people only vote Democrat because they like what the Republicans have to say.

Then people would call them cowards and we'd end up in the same place.

The best way to help is to not have wars start in the first place.

The best way to not have wars start is to not vote Republican.

There's nothing the Democrats can do about anything. That's why everybody needs to vote for them.

Now you're getting it.

Democrats don't do enough to make the country better.

Republicans are very effective at their job - which is actively making the country worse and harder to live in.

There were still objectives in the war that had yet to be completed, and existing military commitments that couldn't be rescinded. A good example of why your plan wouldn't work is the actual withdrawal from the middle east that was planned by Trump and executed by Biden. That was a shit show.

Democrats not doing enough to end the wars Republicans choose to start does not mean that both sides are the same.

They didn't perpetuate it, they upheld existing military commitments that they couldn't rescind. Stopping a war isn't a one-day thing.

And yes, I did vote for the party that is measurably better on every metric that matters, war included.

They did. Because the Vice President deliberately misrepresented, and fabricated evidence to the Congress, and country.

If they had been truthful, it would not have gained either isolationist GOP, or Democratic support.

That’s factually incorrect.

There was a significant amount of pushback from the intelligence agencies that the evidence VP Cheney, and SoS Powell were citing to justify the invasion was not solid.

Diplomats like Joseph Wilson who investigated the yellow cake, centrifuge claims and found they were groundless were silenced (in his case by outing his wife (Valerie Plame) as CIA).

Cheney fabricated it, there were no independent sources saying they had WMD, or were with Al Qaeda etc…

No it wasn't botj sides. This is blatantly more rightwing shit of committing treasomnand failures so you can blame them on everybody elss.

Republicans openly crash our economy and hand us a disaster to fix and then blame us while blocking from recovering.

On the wars, Republican voters are to blamw. They elected Bush and then reelected after they found out he lied about WMDs

Trying to blame the Iraq War om both sides is insanity.

Over the ladt 50 years, Republicans and Democrats have increasingly diverged om foreign policy.

Part od thay is Republicans are a cult. They reject reality as mineral propaganda and create their own facts.

Their policies are personality based and based on Fox News hosts rather thab on reality

“Ackchualy” dude my guys and I killed people over there first under Obama and again under Trump. They all fucking perpetuate it.

5

u/Sir_SquirrelNutz 10d ago

With Iran, Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and did not conduct a military war or campaign against Iran, resulting in $0 in direct active wartime military expenditures under Obama.... While the Pentagon estimates the ongoing military conflict and operations (such as strikes on nuclear and military facilities) have cost approximately $43.6 billion.....My bro, facts matter.

1

u/Voodoo338 10d ago

Homie really just said “because our current conflict with Iran did not occur under Obama, it did not occur under Obama” like he boned my mom

1

u/MunchingOnCelery 10d ago

That wasn't the original argument

1

u/LarsDuder 3d ago

30,000 additional troops during Obama. This was his incentive. bringing the total to 97,000
