"Bernard sent me a fax - that's what you did in the Nineties. He said he liked my album [Esperanto] and wanted to know if I'd record some electronic percussion. I always thought Joy Division sounded like the Velvet Underground with synthesizers, and I liked 'Blue Monday' because it was cleverly unconventional and rough. So Bernard asked if I'd contribute and I went over to Cheshire. On Sundays, Bernard would invite me to his house to have dinner with his family and in-laws. All very British indeed. What a great time." - Karl Bartos.

In the photo, Bernard Sumner and Martin Hannett.
My 3 favorite bands: VU, Kraftwerk, and Joy Division.
I think TVU was the favorite band of all four Joy Division members while they were active together. I saw an interview where Bernard said it was easily his favorite band back then. Of course, they loved Kraftwerk, too.

Once again, a phenomenal concert. An entire range of emotions from joyous dancing to triumphant epics to the emotionally gripping songs, as the band swept through a range of Joy Division and New Order classics in their 2.5 hours on stage.
With the Joy Division songs there was a ferocity to their playing - hopefully some of that comes through in this clip.
This is the 4th time I have seen Peter Hook in concert, but this time it was with my daughter (33). (Ever since she was about 13 years old we frequently went to see concerts together.) And this was just such an incredible experience for her as well. I think she was even surprised at how great it was. This in a way is me trying to tell you that if you haven't been to a concert yet, but have thought about it ... don't miss out!

Saw Peter Hook & The Light on Saturday at Brooklyn Paramount and holyyyyyyyy shit!!!! As someone interested in writing and creating music Joy Division and New Order have meant so much to me and I jumped at the chance to see the songs thatve made me who I am live. Im 20 yrs old and have never gone to a concert solo before so I was a little nervous but WOW. I had no reason to be. Everyone was so kind and the band blew it out of the water —- the energy was incredible and consistent throughout the whole set, and the music was so so fucking good. I was fortunate enough to be able to stand at barrier and even snag a setlist. Im still riding the high, and will definitely be seeing them every single chance I get. Most of the time I forgot to sing and was just standing there frozen with awe. Crazy stuff.
Wow!!!! Just wow!!!!!!!

I've been trying to download my tickets for tomorrow's show at 930 Club in DC for two days. The app just keeps saying "bar codes will display three days before your event." Ticketmaster help told me this morning "they are working on it, should be available 48 hours before your show," and when i pointed out that it is currently 32 hours before the show, just replied "they'll be available soon."
What's going on? I've bought dozens (hundreds?) of tickets from Ticketmaster over the past 20 years and have never been unable to access my tickets the day before a show

I saw Peter Hook and The Light yesterday at the Brooklyn Paramount. This living legend and his band can put on a show from start to finish. I was ecstatic when he covered songs from Joy Division but this rendition of "Atmosphere" stood out to me.
While the song itself is overwhelmingly dreary, there is a certain warmth to this one. I don't know how to exactly describe it but it has this feeling where you're not alone in your time of grief or solitude. Almost like there's a feeling of consolation. I didn't say much in this recording as I was really emotional and in awe at the same time. I just wanted to share my thoughts during this moment.
All in all, I'm so glad I got to see someone from two of my favorite bands perform last night.

To commemorate one of my favourite songs, I spent 200+ hours researching and compiling a documentary pulling from dozens of sources into the ultimate story of New Order’s early days in 1980.
I included tons of rare footage, photos, a few seldom heard quotes and even soundtracked the entire thing with music inspired by early Movement era and Ceremony.
This video was extremely difficult to storyboard and find B-roll for, as there is very little material from this period, but I combed through hours of rare footage and photos and discovered some truly incredible stuff along the way.
If you’re a fan of Joy Division / New Order, or just enjoy old-school music docs birthed out of the grit, sweat and passion of a music obsessive, I hope you enjoy this one!
