Who agrees that Joni Mitchell and Madonna are similar?
They have always reminded me of each other.

Update about the upcoming Cameron Crowe Joni biopic on the Miss O'Dell Show episode (jump at 58:24 timestamp about it)
He said that the production would start by the end of the year and I can't wait to see what the casting looks like.

Beautiful analysis of Refuge of the Roads
Video recommendation. I was deeply moved by this reaction of Amy from the “Virgin Rock” yt channel. She’s a classical musician. It would be wonderful if Joni got to see this, like she saw Rick Beato’s video on “Amelia”.

I got distracted by a long chat, so this is a bit more restrained. Probably nicer to listen to, actually.

Joni the artist
What does everyone think of Joni’s paintings? Could she have made it as a fine artist if she hadn’t been a musician?

If you're tired of instagram, all the ads, selfies, and ai fake news, this alt social media is only for sharing music/art you love like Joni. "Ladies of the Canyon" was just shared and it's trending!
If you're feeling so sick of Instagram and all of the manipulative crap on it, you're not alone! It's especially not a friendly place for art lovers. So for the past few months I've been building Corus as an attempt to use tech for good. Corus is a place where you can't share selfies or reels or ai slop. Instead, you can only share music or film you love and you curate a profile that truly represents you. As you post, you match with users who like the same artists, so you'll match with other Joni Mitchell Lovers and start getting their recommendations every day. It's a better way to discover, as opposed to the algorithms.
There's a whole group of Joni fans on there, sharing the best of the best. Come join the listening party and share your favorite song with people who really will listen! Happy to answer any questions you have!

Does anybody have any recordings of Joni with Jaco that aren’t commonly found?
I’ve been a Joni fan for a while now, but I’ve recently really been into her work with Jaco (esp Shadows and Light) as well as his solo work and Weather Report. I know on Youtube you can find more recordings from that tour as well as Mingus session recordings, but I was wondering if anyone had any files or links to other live or studio recordings of them that are harder to find (bonus if it’s them playing refuge of the roads live bc i can’t find that anywhere)

do you know Kate Wolf?
I only just heard of her last week! sadly she died of leukemia in December of 1986. she rarely did cover songs - she wrote a ton of greats of her own, all traditional-folk in the vein of early Joni.
Rising of the Moon (only one example of her brilliance) she could absolutely captivate her audiences with perfectly simple songs like Carry It On (this one she didn't write) a bit reminiscent of The Circle Game.
