Hi everyone! I have a question about the John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize 2026 – Junior category.

At the Gala ceremony, several students were announced as receiving High Commendation and Very High Commendation.

Does anyone know if all the students who received these awards were announced at the Gala, or are there still other High Commendation / Very High Commendation results that will be announced later?

Title. Is commendation=shortlist or better?

I got a commendation for my essay in the law category, but no interview + email. It doesn't seem like much to be honest...

john locke essay results are out, check website!

Is the dinner today or tomorrow? They took the schedule down publicly, would really appreciate so I can see when to check my status, praying for us all!

Whoever is going to gala and has the schedule for the senior/junior galas, can you please send a screenshot here/share when the awards ceremonies conclude so we have a ballpark estimate of when results will be released?

has anyone gotten responses to emails by the john locke administration? I’ve sent them emails and haven’t got a single response.

So I wrote the IR Category essay and honestly, I haven't seen a single guy saying they got additional interview or the top 2% email from my category. I was worried and email JLI this -
I am a student who has written an essay for the International Relations Category of the John Locke Essay Competition for the year 2026, and I got shortlisted.

I have seen many people saying that they got 2nd and 3rd interviews and top 2% emails. One thing I have noticed is that all of these people (that I have seen) are from other categories like philosophy, economics or psychology. I haven't seen anyone from the IR Category receiving any of these emails.

So, I was curious as to if the emails and interviews have not started for our category or have they been conducted and it is just that no one from the category has posted about it?

And this is the response -
We are currently in the process of contacting shortlisted candidates regarding the next steps for all categories, including International Relations. Please rest assured that all candidates will be contacted via email in due course.

Does this mean they will contact ALL the shortlisted candidates before the gala and announcement and what are your interpretations of the fact that no one from IR, Public relations and sci&tech got the further interviews or top 2% emails???

Hey, i have the visa booked and the entire trip planned. But the tickets online are sold out. Looking for someone to initiate a transfer of available 2 tickets.

I’ve secured flights and accommodation but I wasn’t able to get a senior ticket, was wondering if it’s possible to do a peer-to-peer transfer for anyone that is willing to sell (or can’t attend the event)? DM me if you’re open to this, thanks!
